Chapter 7 VII

The party at Red Bomb Club was in full swing that night.

The disco lights shone on the bodies of the club's strippers and everyone seemed to be having a good time until there was a loud braking of glass, interrupting the party.

"What was that?" Someone asked and someone's body flew down the roof with a hand thrust through his chest.

On realizing he was a vampire, people took to their heels, screaming frantically at the top of the lungs.

Blood dripped down his hand as he rose to his feet.

"Come out and face me. I've had enough of this rookies. I heard there's a so-called angel of death knocking around here. I said come out and face me." The man in coat screamed.

Someone clapped from the darkness and his head whirled round to see where it came from.

"Bravo, what a fine show you've out for us tonight, but what business do you have with me?" Lucian asked as he emerged out of darkness.

"Are you an angel of death? You look too puny to be one."Coat-man replied, looking Lucian from head to toe.

"That hurts. You know you're the first guy who's ever said anything like that to me."Lucian said and approached him. "But I know how guys like you think. I'm strong now but oh no, I only have five years to live. There's gotta be a way to prolong my life."A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth and he turned his eyes to the man before him. "Oh, I know. I'll become an angel of death. I'm right, amn't I?"

The man frowned and Lucian narrowed his eyes."Wait a sec, your face is familiar. Aren't you that UFC champion?...Of course, you are. I'm a fan of yours." He said and leaned an arm on Coat-man's shoulder. "I'm feeling generous today. Why don't you join my group?"

The man lowered Lucian's arm and turned to glare at him.

"Are you done? Unfortunately, I don't want to work for someone who's as weak as you."

The smile on Lucian's faded into a frown."You should watch your mouth if you don't want to be throwing up blood after your rebirth."

"I'll give you one last chance. If you hand me over your title, I'll let you live." He said and Lucian pretended to cower. "I'm so scared."

He punches Lucian up the jaw, before he lifted him off his feet."Don't worry, it'll only get scarier."

Lucian's bodyguards watched as Coat-man gave Lucian a beat-down and were surprised at the level of strength a fresh convert like him had.

"Die." Coat-man screamed and made to give Lucian what he felt was a 'concluding punch' when Lucian made a flick at his forehead and he went crashing far away from him.

Lucian ran his tongue over his golden fangs and cracked his neck as two of his men went to check the body which was slowly disappearing.

"That fool was nowhere strong as he looked. How embarrassing."

"Sir, he's dead."One of his guards said and another handed him a towel as he turned to the bar.

"Clean up the mess." He said as he patted himself dry. "Ugh, it's gonna take forever to repair all of this. I shouldn't have gotten so excited."

A guard passed him a drink and he took a sip before he clicked his tongue. "I was expecting more from him since he was a UFC champion but he was rather disappointing."

He took another sip from his drink and a guard ran towards him. He made a quick now, walked over to him and whispered into his ear.

"Ah...So, shall we go meet the pureblood now?"

It was raining seriously and some people were gathered at a drainage. The men among them tried to force the drainage cover open while the owner panicked as she raked her fingers through her hair.

"It won't open. What do we do?" She asked.

"I don't think it's possible to pull it out with strength."

"I would have opened it if I hadn't lost body mass."

"Has anyone got a pair of bolt cutters handy?"

"Hurry up and call 911."

"The gonna die at this rate."

"Look, free cash." Someone called from behind them and everyone lifted their heads to see.

"Where?... There's nothing here..." One of the men looked down to see Zuriña with the drainage opened. "How did that come loose?...Did you pull it off?"

"Um, well..it just came loose when I pulled it."

"Thanks."

Father dropped the newspaper, which bore her picture and how she rescued a on the bed and turned to glare at her.

"Is this a joke to you?How many times do I have to tell you to be careful?"

"I...I...The cat could have died if I didn't help."

"I told you not to draw attention to yourself." He yelled and she flinched.

Sighing, he turned to look away as he massaged his forehead. "It's impossible to guess how much power mixed blood vampires have amassed during the last ten years. They've formed organizations like gangsters and terrorists and are hiding in plain sights, holding influencial positions like in politics, military and even the police. They're operating behind the scenes right now to get what they want, which is a pureblood vampire."

She was dumbfounded. "How you do know all of this?"

"There's no need for you to know that..." He scowled and she glanced over at his desk to see articles and a huge textbook on vampires. So he'd been studying about vampires from ten years back, she thought as she reached out to pick an article.

"What am I to you?"

"Don't get cute with me right now." He replied.

"You have never thought of me as a human, right? I'm nothing but a monster to you, after all."She said as tears welled up in her eyes.

"Riña..." Father Michael called after her as she turned to run out of the house, slamming the door behind her.

It was always like that.

He responded to other people with kindness, however he was always so cold to her.

The communion took place at the church the following morning and there was a long line waiting to get served.

"The body of Christ."

"Amen." The boy received his share and headed for a seat.

"The body of Christ." Father Michael turned to another member.

"Isn't Father Michael quite aloof. In my ten years of attending this church, I've never seen him smile once." A member whispered.

"Someone said they saw his body and it was covered with scars. Maybe he used to be in a dangerous line of work."

"You know, now that you mention it, he's kinda scary looking..." She was saying when Father interrupted.

"Aren't you going to receive the communion?" He asked and they flinched.

"We're sorry." They apologized.

"You know you're being disruptive, right? I'll ask you to leave if you act this way again." He had just said out those words when a cold breeze suddenly descended on the church. Everyone were wondering if it was the weather but Father Michael knew it was worse.

He lifted his eyes in time to see Lucian before him, smiling as he twirled his umbrella across his shoulder.
