Chapter 5 Introduction or Clash

The door opened revealing Myra's mother as she breezed into the room unaware of the tension going between the bodyguard and her daughter as she smiled and said,

"Good morning, you must be Mr Felix. My husband Blaq informed me of your arrival. And I have seen that you have met my daughter Myra. She is very excited to meet you also." She added as she sat down while Felix raised an eyebrow, not believing what he just heard because Myra was anything but excited.

"Speak for your self-Mother, I do not want him here and you know him. Sugarcoating your words aren't helping one bit and you know it." Myra said loud enough for both of them to hear it as her mother frowned and spoke

"We had talked about it remember. I hoped that you will be over your angry phase by now. Your father went through a lot of pain to get you a bodyguard, do not pursue him away. That will not help you and you know deep down, I am right, so I expect you to treat him well as he would you too. Am I clear the both of you?" She asked with her voice raised as Felix nodded his head while Myra gave a grunt and looked away.

"What is your name, and tell me more about yourself." Myra's mother asked looking at Felix who smiled and said,

"My name is Felix Marshalls. I am 27 years old. I live at Upper Harbor with my mum and it is just the both of us. I didn't finish......college." He whispered the last part looking down. He wanted to omit the last statement but he also knew that the family was still going to run a background check on him to see if he was really a good person so there was no need hiding the truth from them. Maybe if they saw his honesty; they would let him keep his job. He didn't want to lie when it could backfire on him a lot more.

"Mother can you believe this? He is an illiterate. Surely you would not let him be my bodyguard. This is embarrassing, what will the rest say when they find out about this? Mother, he clearly doesn't know a thing or two about saving someone. He didn't even go for the special training; this is plain madness mother. He is not fit for the job." Myra said as Janet hushed her.

"Do not forget I am the one in charge here Myra, and I will be making the final decision. He didn't say that he was illiterate, only that he didn't go to a college. Tell me Felix, did you finish high school?" Janet said as Felix just nodded his head.

"Can you read and write?" She added as he nodded his head and said,

"Yes, I am very good at that too."

"Have you used any weapons? How good are you at self defense. Tell me your strongest points." She said as Myra tried to intervene but the glare that she got from her mother was enough to shut her up.

"I am fairly good in all weapons. I know how to use a knife, or guns. I have already been around grenades too. I am very good at fighting, both street fighting and in martials arts. I got a black belt in taekwondo. I can hold my own against ten men at once. I am fairly good at morse code and I can breathe underwater for thirty minutes. I am also a very fast runner and a good driver." He ratted out as Janet began to look more and more impressed with what she heard. Even Myra was shocked with what she had heard. None of her old bodyguards could do half of what he had mentioned. She guessed having a degree wasn't enough then.

"I am very impressed with what I am hearing. After you saved my husband life, he was telling me only good things about you, how you were humble and kind and caring, and I was sold by his description of you. Seeing you now has strengthened my idea of hiring you. You are perfect for my daughter, congratulations, Mr Marshalls. You are officially my daughter's bodyguard. You are to follow her everywhere and never let her out of your sights. Also, you are to be her personal driver and make sure that nobody knows who you are. Try and blend in with the crowd as well. Your salary will be paid to you every month. I hope you can do what I have asked of you." She concluded as she stood up. Felix was happy about the outcome although he didn't let it show. His mother's treatment was going to be paid for. Myra on the other hand was furious about the whole thing, she couldn't believe that her mother would hire him. although she was quite impressed, she still didn't want him around. He was the first one to put her in her place although he wasn't hired and now that he had the full backing of her parents, he was going to make sure he tamed her and she hated people trying to control her life. she would not be able to do certain things like clubbing anymore. It was unfair. It was even better if they sold her to marriage with one of her step father's friends.

She argued with her mother telling her to reconsider this but Janet was usually rigid when she came to a decision and she knew that it was no use. It was as if she was pouring water on a stone. Janet left them alone as Myra turned to face Felix and glared at him.

Felix looked back at her already thinking that she was indeed spoilt and a brat while Myra thought of him to be rude and arrogant. They wouldn't fit each other. They were complete opposites. And although they said opposites attracts, it was never in this case, they would be the first opposites that didn't attract. Myra had to take matters into her own hands. If Felix wasn't going to be sacked, she just had to make sure that he resigned on his own.
