Chapter 5 Mate

Simon's POV

I returned to the haunt to hunt down humans so I could drag the hunters from their hiding place.

I transformed into my wolf and detected the odor of fear in the distance. I quietly emerged from the foliage and noticed a tall, slender girl making her way towards a tree. She didn't feel or notice my presence.

My wolf was huge and black. Even if she decides to flee when she sees me, I could catch up with her quickly.

Was she stupid? Why would she walk through the woods at this time of night? Right in front of me, a warning sign with the word "danger" was visible. How was it possible for her to ignore the sign? I grinned. Well, more food for me.

I resumed my walking and when she finally turned to look at me, I could see how fearful she was, but I didn't care. I've killed humans before, so I wouldn't have any trouble killing her.

She was fearfully staring at me with her full face, but she was gorgeous. Her long, black hair, which was a little loose before, fell to her shoulders, and her eyes grew wide. I shouldn't lie, but she was the sexiest human I had ever seen or was about to eat. She was beautiful, looked expensive, and had those distinguishing features.

Ugh! rich humans. If she disappears, they won't even notice. Humans are like that. They have no concern for anyone but themselves.

I should take her out of her misery. She looked unhappy.

She turned around as I kept getting closer to her and started running with her long legs. Like I said, I was quicker.

When I finally caught up with her, she was struck by the side of my stomach and fell to the other side of the tree. She was groaning in pain. My eyes could see how much pain she was in, and I could also see the movement of her mouth. She was saying something.

She started to cry, but that won't stop me from feeding on her. I loved it when humans begged for their lives.

I was angry at how much she was struggling. The humans I've eaten in the past didn't seem to be as obstinate as this girl. Her stomach was penetrated by my canines, and then I started to feed on her.

"Let me go!" She screamed, but I was unable to release her. All I wanted to do was kill her. Devil, my wolf, is vicious and merciless. It was just as enraged as I was, so I couldn't tell it what to do.

Because I felt like I was getting my revenge, I kept feeding on her.

I abruptly heard loud music coming from a certain direction. My eyes followed the path and landed on a cell phone. Her phone was ringing. The noise the phone was making infuriated me. After removing my teeth from her flesh, I cut the call off with my talon.

I noticed how much pain she was in when I turned to face her again. This is the first time I've ever experienced something like this. I'm not sure why, but a part of me felt frail.

My heart is cold. I am a vicious wolf. Wicked wolves have no sympathy for other people. Not to talk less of a human.

What is going on with me? I had no idea.

The side of my eyes, which were now closer to her, allowed me to see how terrified she was, as if I were going to keep eating her. However, the reality was different. I was supposed to keep eating her, but instead I started to sniff her.

Although she had no scent except her perfume, I could still smell fear around her. She caught my eyes, and when I looked into her clean, brown eyes, I was immediately absorbed.

What was going on with me? It's a query I'll keep posing to myself.

My facial expression as well as Devil's abruptly changed. We didn't know why we felt that way about this particular person. We had never before shown mercy to humans. We always end their lives.

In pain, the girl screamed. Her wound, which was bleeding, was losing blood incredibly quickly.

I sniffed her for a while, then left her side and sat motionless on the ground.

I also started to experience unpleasant pain, but I wasn't sure what was wrong with me. I had never experienced such pain before. My chest felt as though something were pulling at it. It was painful.

After briefly looking away from her body, I turned my gaze back to her. Then and only then did I realize why I was suffering as well. She is my mate, and I could feel her pain as well.

After many unsuccessful attempts, she finally managed to stand up straight, as I watched. It appeared as though she had an unexpected burst of strength descend upon her.

As soon as she got to her feet, she moved swiftly away from my sight. With her hand holding her bleeding stomach, she ran as quickly as her legs would carry her out of the woods.

My focus shifted to her bag, books that were lying around, and phone. She was a student. a student who enjoys learning. That was why she was going home late.

I experienced another pain in my chest after sensing that she had completely left my presence and that I was unable to pursue her or kill her. Something kept pulling me back. For some reason, I couldn't seem to leave where I sat. I guess the pain I was feeling was referred to as a "mate bond."
