Simon's POV
I took a position in front of the statues of the former Bright Moon Wolf Pack, Luna and Alpha. It was put in front of the mansion, and every time I see it, it makes my blood boil and makes me remember how much I despise humans.
The most painful event for the entire pack was the passing of my parents.
Two years have passed since my parents' deaths, and at the age of 22, I became the Bright Moon Wolf Pack's youngest-ever alpha. I can still clearly recall what happened, and it seems like yesterday.
They were killed by the hunters, and ever since, my hatred of humans has grown, and I have been haunting the hunters. Recently, I managed to kill one of them, and I'll make sure to go after the rest. My heart won't be at peace until then.
When I saw my younger brother, Flint, coming toward me, I sighed and made an effort to look tough. Never could I let him see how frail I was. I am the Alpha. which also implies that I must be courageous on behalf of my people.
"I have been watching you stare at it for almost 30 minutes." referring to our parents' statue. "Are you alright?" He asked me.
"I am good," I breathed in deeply. Flint is unaware of the hunter's murder and the haunt I experienced two days ago. If I had told him I wanted to take revenge for the death of our parents, he would have tried to talk me out of it.
"You don't look good. Did you even get any sleep last night?"
"I am the Alpha. I don't sleep. I work." I said. My eyes were still settled on the statue.
Flint sighed. "I wish Uncle Viggo would not have given you much work to do. I miss the way you always have my time and play with me. I miss you as my personal trainer."
My brother was someone I always had time for before our parents were killed, but now that I have adopted the position of an Alpha, I hardly ever even get to see him. possibly twice or three times per week.
"Mace is a good fighter. I've seen how he trains you, and you're getting better too."
"Mace is a Gamma. He isn't always able to make time for me. He trains the larger wolves instead, and only twice a week does he train me. If no one had time for me, how would you expect me to learn? I wish there was someone here who understood me." He sighed.
I could see what he meant, but I wished Flint had known why I had been so busy. I wanted to get even. I was starving for it, and I won't stop until I've killed all of the hunters who killed my parents.
Mace is my best friend and the only member of the pack that I trust, and Flint is only 13 years old. He was the only person I could trust to watch over my younger brother while I was away for the Haunt. Mace has always supported me and given me advice. Unlike my non-biological brother, Anton, who left the mansion with his sister Aldopha to stay with Uncle Viggo and my Uncle Viggo, who only wants me to find my mate.
Speaking of mates, I haven't found one yet. According to Mace, having a Luna by my side increases my strength. I doubt that. I don't need a Luna to make me powerful. I already have strength.
"How about Saturday? I will make time for you. I promise." I told Flint. His face has become noticeably calm, and seeing that makes me happy. I'm always happy when I see my little brother happy.
"Do not go back on your word." Flint left my side and went back to the house.
I let out a sigh.
...
On the battlefield, there were about a hundred warriors waiting to engage in single-on-one combat. Every morning before five, they assemble as usual and train themselves to become better.
Gamma Mace had his weapon in one hand while facing the crowds with his other hand by his side. "Are we ready?" His voice was heard by all of his warriors as he spoke.
"Yes!" The shouts from the warriors were loud enough for Mace to hear.
"Now choose your position. You know how we always go about things? The people you trained with yesterday won't be the same as today. You won't always be fighting one opponent in a battle, so I need to get you guys ready to be more effective. Am I making sense?" He shouted.
"Yes, Gamma!" After responding, the crowds took their positions and made a different partner choice.
As soon as I mind-linked Mace, he was perplexed as to why I would want to visit the battlefield considering that it had never happened before.
"Listen up, guys. Put your best move forward because the Alpha will arrive shortly."
As he finished speaking, the warriors exchanged glances and murmured to one another.
"But Gamma Mace, the Alpha, has never been to battlefield training. What should we do if he asks us to fight him?" Someone in the group enquired.
Mace chuckled. "That is not possible. The Alpha is only present to speak with each of us." He also hoped so. Simon is a complex person. Therefore, no one is always aware of what is happening in Simon's mind.
When my presence was felt, the field went silent. The crowds moved back to where they had been as I stood in front of them. I was only wearing gray sweatpants, and that caught their attention.
"Alpha, why are you not dressed?" Mace whispered to me.
"It's hot out here." I said. I maintained a fixed gaze on the warriors at all times, never turning to look at Mace.
"I didn't mean that. If you are uncomfortable in your clothing and are here to speak with us, you should have worn a robe."
I sighed and gave Mace a quick look. "I am not here to talk to anyone." I turned my attention back to the Warriors. "I have come to fight with you people. I've heard good things about all of you, so I want the strongest of you to fight me." I grinned as I knelt down to grab a rod. With my leg, I broke it into two and raised them. "There won't be any fatalities today, so relax."
Even though I was still only twenty-two years old, the warriors had always known me to be a vicious person. How could they approach an Alpha and engage in combat? They'd also know me as the most powerful.
"Alpha, I don't believe they're prepared. Just observe how quickly their hearts are beating." Me and Mace turned our attention to Anton as he walked up to us and grinned.
I scowled and lowered my hands from the sky.
Anton is a beta. My father had brought Anton and Adolpha to the Bright Moon wolf pack after saving them from the countryside during a rogue's attack.
"You don't know that, Anton. There are strong ones among them, according to what I've heard," I said.
With his hands in his pockets, Anton came to a stop in front of me and Mace. "Brother, what brings you here? You have never attended a training session on a battlefield."
"Perhaps I am bored?" I grinned and turned my head away from Anton. I was making an effort to calm my wolf, Devil, who was becoming enraged by Anton's presence. "I will be at the mansion. If you need me, you know where to find me." As I turned and began to walk away, I said to Mace.
I knew that if I stayed close to Anton for an extended period of time, Devil would grow irate and want to fight with Anton, and the result wouldn't be good at all.
My wolf is an emotionless beast who is ruthless. He's vicious and keeps up with the phase. "No mercy."
