Chapter 4 Familiar Yet Distant

Sabrina woke up, feeling a bit tired and the headache that rocked her head was doing nothing to help her situation.

She groaned as she slowly sat up from the bed, opening her eyes to see her surroundings clearly.

"What the ..." She gasped, realizing that she was not in her room, she was not in her house.

She looked to her side and saw Mr. Myles sleeping peacefully on the bed with her.

Sabrina's eyes widened, realizing what had happened. She raised up the blanket and squeezed her eyes shut when she saw that she was naked underneath the sheets.

He had taken advantage of her... She looked towards him with rising hatred in her eyes.

How could he have taken advantage of her when she was vulnerable? Her eyes filled up with anger that turned into tears.

She slowly and quietly got out of bed, she was planning on leaving without letting him know and she also was never going back to the job.

She could not work for someone who took advantage of her because of how vulnerable and emotional she had been the night before.

She slipped out of bed and picked her clothes that littered the floor.

She wore the rumpled clothes as quietly as she could and was about to leave the room when she heard him call her name.

"Sabrina"

She stopped, her hand on the knob, thinking if she should open the door and walk away or listen to his nonsense.

"Sabrina" he called again, this time his voice more urgent as he hurried towards her.

Sabrina turned towards him with angry eyes.

"How could you take advantage of me, Mr. Myles?!" She yelled at him, she was expecting him to maybe yell back at her or tell her she wanted it but he said none of those.

"I... I am sorry that I lost it last night. I am really sorry" he apologized and Sabrina scoffed.

"Sorry? Does sorry erase the fact that you had sex with me? What does your apology change?"

"I... I am really sorry but the truth is that I love you, Sabrina"

A love confession from her boss was definitely surprising to her even though she had been told by her colleagues a few times that Mr. Myles definitely did like her.

"You... You are not serious, right?" She asked him, her loud voice going low all of a sudden.

He reached out to hold her hands but she dodged her hands away from his grip.

He sighed.

"I am serious. I really do love you, and I think you should have noticed that long before that I treat you a little bit better than the others. It is because I like you and yesterday.... I swear I did not mean to do it, I wanted to hold back but I... I could not because of how much I am drawn towards you already. I love you so much Sab"

Sabrina was quite speechless.

The death of her father, her having to go back to Australia for his burial, Mr. Myles sleeping with her and now confessing his love to her.

"And... I am really sorry to say this but there was no resistance from you last night and I... I thought you wanted it as much as I did" Myles added.

"I... I have to go right now." Sabrina turned back towards the door.

"You are leaving me?" Myles questioned.

"I have to go for my father's burial"

"Oh, that's right" Myles mumbled and quickly took hold of her hand.

"Sabrina, what about what I just said? Do you... Do you love me too?" He asked, looking into her eyes, searching for an answer to his feelings from her.

"Let's... Let's talk about this later. I am really not in the mood for stuffs like this, Mr. Myles"

"Oh, right." Myles let go of her hands and watched her walk out of his room.

He sighed heavily and ran his hand through his hair.

"Come back soon, Sab"

*

The day of the burial.

Damon was in the backseat of his black car with tinted windows.

He was already at the burial ceremony but he was not going inside.

"Are you not going to go in, Alpha Damon?" Henry asked.

"Won't be going in. I'd just stay back here"

"Why did we come here if we are not going to be going in, then?" Henry groaned.

"Keep it quiet, Henry" Damon ordered and silence fell on the car.

Damon watched out of the window as the others walked past, friends, families and relatives who had come for the burial ceremony.

"Who knew that old man had so many friends?" He remarked.

"Can I ask a question?" Henry asked.

"You are already asking one"

"Guess that's right. Why are we really here?" Henry asked.

"For the burial"

"Are you sure it is just the burial? No other reasons?" Henry asked.

"You ask way too much questions, Henry"

Damon looked out of the window yet again.

"Are you looking out of something?"

"Enough questions Henry. I am being attacked by your questions more than wolves have ever been attacked by hunters"

Henry chuckled.

"So what are you looking out for?"

"The next leader of their miserly group." Damon mumbled a response.

He was expecting the next leader to stand out quite a bit from the others. He was expecting a heavily built man with stern looks and elegant body carriage to show up but he had been waiting for so long and there was no one who stood out from amongst the others.

"The leader is usually the child of the last leader"

"Who is the old man's child?"

"The boy you killed fourteen years ago" Henry replied.

"He has no other child?"

"There are words that he has a daughter but I am not sure yet"

"Go and find out how true it is and if it is true. Gather information on her. If I am able to play my cards right, I might really be able to wipe out all hunters" he smirked.

"What are you planning on doing, Alpha?"

"You'll get to know later on" Damon mumbled.

"So mysterious" Henry remarked.

"I'll get to it then" he added and hopped out of the car.

Damon was about to look away from the window when he saw a lady running towards the burial ground.

She was running and so he couldn't see her face clearly. He couldn't see her face clearly until the wind blew off her black hat and she had to stop to retrieve the hat.

Damon caught sight of her face and even though his brain noted that she had an ordinary look, there was something about that woman that made his insides stir, something about her that seemed familiar yet distant.

"Who is she?"
