Chapter 6 BLENDING IN

I cannot deny that I am not exhausted with all these new faces but I began to adapt faster than I had thought I would. The strange face that barged into my room without courtesy was apparently my elder brother. How can a brother be so full of spite? Well that's because he's my step-brother.

With the way I and Annie scanned him, he was a bitter and wicked person to the princess so they didn't get along. He must have been happy that she was lost but now that she came back, he failed at hiding his bitterness of her return. I could deduce immediately that he's someone I need to beware of, with the look on his face, he's an enemy of the lost princess.

"You are really back" he blurt with a scoff that expressed bitterness.

My eyes rolled unintentionally at the absurdity of his first sentence to someone who was lost and I didn't know when "What is it? Are you not happy that your plan didn't work?" flew out of my mouth and he raised his brows to counter my claim.

Did I say something I shouldn't have said? His look and attitude was the one that confused me if it was true. He moved closer to the bed and grabbed the frame making me lean backward with a distasteful look on my face as I stared at him, trying not to get intimidated.

"I know that we don't get along but that is not enough reason for me to kill you, I'm not a crazy murderer" he growled at me but I wasn't convinced, if that was the case then he shouldn't have said what he said with that kind of reaction.

Also he has just convinced a fact that I didn't know, he doesn't get along with the lost princess so I need to be wary of him in order to stay out of his trouble. He might not have the intention to kill me now but who knows? He might have a reason to kill me sooner or later.

"Ah ah? Was that why you couldn't even your dislike for me just this once? It's not like I want it though so can you use the door now that you have confirmed that I am back hale and hearty" I gritted at him and a loud laughter from him followed making me confused but that confusion soon turned to anger when he slammed me with "What do you mean hale and hearty? Your memories didn't come back with you".

I was pained!

I jumped off the bed in fury and charged at him but he was swift enough to dodge my clenched fist. "Get out! Get out of my room!" I screamed as I chased him all around the room.

"You might have lost your memory but you didn't lose your bratty and trashy character" he paused to remark and that sparked my anger the more. "Get out! You son of a gun. If I catch you, I will make sure to rip your mouth apart and feed your carcass to the dogs, you piece of shit" I cursed endlessly as I ran after him and finally, he left my room.

Immediately, my legs halted to catch my breath, he just wasted all my strength when it was only morning. I crawled back to bed to catch up on my breath and ended up having another round of sound sleep that got me refreshed by the time I woke up.

I finished taking a bath and requested for a new sets of underwear which they brought immediately without questioning me but the bra cup was kind of small for me, and it made my chest fuller but still manageable.

My food was served and this time I made sure to sideline the fish since the annoying handsome man was not around to force it down my throat. I resumed my book that I slept off while reading the other night when the annoying handsome man ended up walking in.

I jumped up at the sight of him before he nitpick about anything but he just asked how I was feeling and if I needed anything which I found strange because he didn't about all that yesterday, he was busy forcing the princess' identity on me.

"I am fine as I can be" I responded with an attitude of I don't care and he nodded.

"You will be attending the welcome party in the evening, the maids will dress you up so make sure to stay relaxed till then" he informed me but I didn't get what he meant by that. I quickly kicked the blanket away and ran to his front as he turned to leave, "What do you mean party? Who are they welcoming?" I questioned at a very high speed and tone. He looked down to meet my eyes that were almost popping out of their sockets before he sighed, "You of course" he answered and I gasped.

"Why are they welcoming me? Am I stranger? Did I travel? I was gone for a few days and they are throwing a party because of that?" I blabbered to oppose the party and he just stood there, watching me rant.

He placed his hands in akimbo and waited for me to finished my clamoring before walking closer, "the princess of this pack was lost for close to three days and we finally found her, what do you think is next? Crying? We need to thank the moon goddess that you are back!" he slammed and I folded my lips for some seconds before I assumed the same posture as him.

"Come to think of it, everyone here respects me and give me the due honor but you have been rude since yesterday. Who are you? What is your rank here?" I shouted at him, throwing my chest forward and he just smirked like he had been waiting for me to ask.

"I am Rolf, the only son of this pack's Beta and your mate" he answered coolly with a tone spiced with pride and my mouth dropped in shock.

It's not enough that I will be in an unfamiliar environment that will take me months to adjust to but I will also have to accept this annoying man in front of me as my mate? I mean I haven't even healed from the pain that brought me in this situation.

Love is not even on my list because I am very much still in love with Larry. The guilt of what happened between us was still fresh in my heart and I cannot bear to love anyone anymore because I have to seek his forgiveness first before doing that. I also have to take my revenge on the bastard I thought was my best friend, he was the cause of everything I was going through.

By now, I should have been in Larry's house as his dear and beloved wife but my life just took another turn overnight. I was caught in a trap that tore my life to pieces and now I cannot even mend the shreds here because I cannot bare myself in order to heal.

Forcing myself to live as someone else is already a big pain in my ass but now I will be living as the wife of someone I do not love a bit? What exactly is my offense? Why is the world treating me like this? I was always an obedient girl to my parents, I never cheated anyone or behaved rudely, I never wished anyone bad so why was I experiencing all of this? It's getting out of my control.

I walked to the portrait I had seen earlier and stared at the person in it continuously and I couldn't stop to wonder what might have happened to her. It is actually pitiful that everyone is rejoicing that she has been found but she's actually still lost out there because I am not her. What could have made her run away from home in the first place? The palace is able to provide for anything she might be in need of and she's definitely loved with the little I have seen so far so what could be the reason for her running away?

"Those are the questions you will need to find answer to if you want to successfully live in the palace as her without getting your cover blown" Annie suddenly cut in making me scared for a second. "Why are you getting scared of me?" she queried, "What do you mean scared? You have been silent all day and only spoke up now" I countered and she sighed.

The fish must have taken a toll on her seeing how she wasn't talking much in order to regain her strength. "I am sorry about yesterday" I apologized but she told me to drop it. "You didn't have a choice, don't beat yourself over it" she remarked and a smile crawled to the corner of my mouth.

As always, we only have each other and we will do anything to survive.
