Chapter 7 If We Eventually Do

I'm in my office enjoying the glass of screaming eagle carbernet I just poured for myself. It's ridiculously expensive but I love the black current taste in my mouth, and although a bottle costs about $500,000 it's what soothes me at very troubling times. And it doesn't bother or affect me to keep buying it. Even though it's very rare to find.

"I've been waiting for the last twenty minutes for you to tell me why you agreed to the wedding. "Ez finally breaks the silence as I was expecting him to, and I let out a breath and gently twirl the wine in my cup while staring at the waves of the sea through my office's glass walls, and enjoying the taste of my wine.

"I agreed because I'm Cameroon Heart, and I do whatever I want. "I reply as I finally turn around to face Ez who is flexed nonchalantly on one of the chairs opposite my desk, and he gives me a look, causing me to chuckle lightly.

"bastard... "I curse at him for knowing me so well, and he scoffs.

"Mr. Gold is my father, Ezra. When I had no one else and the world turned its back on me, he was all I had. He took me in and gave me a home. Gave me a family. Showed me love and raised me like his son...

And despite all that he has done for me, he never for once asked me for anything. Not once, Ezra...

And now... Now he's dying. I can't turn him down. And if for the first time ever, he wants to ask me for something. No matter how hard it is. I have to do it... I want to do it for him... "I reply, and Ezra simply raises a brow at me.

"Even if it means marrying his snooty daughter? Cameron, you know what this is right? You know what this means... For the gang, the noise that would surround it, the drama... The rest of her family... "Ez begins, but I cut him off.

"That snooty daughter means the world to Mr. Gold.

EZ, I know what this will take. Okay? I may not be ready for it, but we'd cross that bridge when we get there... "I reply, and he gives me a weird look.

"What? "I question, and he snickers.

"I still can imagine you being a husband. You... "He replies, and I throw the bulk of sticky notes on my table at him, and he laughs.

"What are you going to do about the girl? "He questions and I sip from my glass again as I take my sit while staring at Ez in the mild darkness of the room. It's evening and one can see the sun setting through the glass walls of my office. The night is crawling upon Texas and I am enjoying the soothing calmness the evening brings.

"Nothing. If she manages to convince her father that she doesn't want to get married to me, good enough for both of us. But if she can't pull that off and we do get married. She'd have to deal with being called Mrs. Heart for the rest of her life. "I reply, and Ez falls silent as I take the last sip from my cup...

Cameroon's POV;

I'm fast asleep in my bed, but my skin begins to crawl in discomfort. My breathing hitches and I feel eyes on me. Causing all forms of sleep to leave my body. I slowly move my hand under the duvet to my gun which is beneath my pillow. Once I grab it, I remain silent with my eyes shut. Seeing with my ears and nose.

I listen as my glass window slowly creaks open, and a soft smell fills my room. A smell that's very unusual and unfamiliar to me and my villa. My room is pitch black. How I love it. I can't sleep with the lights on.

I gently pull my eyes open as I hear the intruder begin to move about in my room, and in the moonlight shining in through my room's glass walls, I see the shadowy figure of a dark frame moving towards my bed slowly.

Fuck it! These folks just had to mess with my sleep.

"One more step and your head would bid farewell to the rest of your body! "I warn as I suddenly sit up. Pointing my gun at the intruder after cocking it, but the shriek I hear causes my brows to crease.

It's a woman!!

I freeze in my spot, and then she speaks. But the moment I hear her voice, I realize who she is.

"Fucking put the gun away, Cameron. I didn't come here to kill you. "She speaks, and I quickly reach for my bedside lamp and flick it on.

"Tess!? What the fuck are you doing here, and how did you get in!? "I question in alarm as I stare at the young lady fully dressed in black from head to toe, and she folds her arms under her breast, packing them up, and she gives me a look.

"You know, for a Mafia lord as high as you claim to be, you have one of the shittiest security systems I've ever seen. "She replies, and I simply stare at her blankly.

Wondering how the fuck she was able to get to my bedroom which is on the top floor of my villa, through the freaking window.

"That doesn't answer the first question. "I reply, and she flicks her tongue as she rolls her eyes and releases her hands from under her breasts where they were.

"You know exactly why I'm here, Cameron. "She states, and I roll my eyes before pulling my duvet off my body and pulling myself out of my bed.

I do know why she's here, but I'm not willing to make anything easy for her currently. I hardly ever get to sleep at night and on one of the few nights when I could eventually get some shut-eye, she ruined it.

"Tessa. I don't have time for mind games. You just ruined my sleep. I insist that you tell me why you did that, and stop beating around the bush. "I speak as I begin to button up my loose shirt, but after looking up, I catch her eyes keen on the bare skin of my chest.

"You're the one playing mind games here, Cameron. You know exactly why I'm here. We can't fucking get married! We don't like each other! We'd kill each other if this blunder should happen! "She explodes, and I fall silent.

I knew she for some reason doesn't like me, but I never thought it was strong enough for her to think she'd have a reason to kill me if we ever got married.

"Tessa, this is your father's wish. I can't turn him down. "I reply as I put my hands behind me. Still holding my gun, and she glares at me. I may have grown up with her, but I don't trust her. In fact, growing up with her and seeing how much hate she has for me, is the more reason why I can never trust her. Especially not with my life.

She's in my room in the middle of the fucking night. The Tessa I know could well be aiming to finish me off tonight, so she doesn't get to marry me.

"Oh, I know what this is... You want me to be the one to break my father's heart, so once again you'd be the favorite one, and he'd pick you over me again... "She then replies with her blue eyes burning at me, and my brows crease.

"Well think again, Cameron. I know you just like me, do not want this marriage. But if you think I'd be the one to break my father's heart by refusing the wedding, you're freaking wrong.

And trust me. If we ever do get married cause of this little shit game you have going on... I'd make your life a living nightmare... "She then barks at me, and I just stare at the fiesty little cat standing in the middle of my room, pointing at me with her right, index finger, and a smirk almost crawls up my face.

I stare at her remarkably tight, and dark outfit and can only wonder how she's able to move in such tight pants.

"Help yourself to the door when you're done... Or window... Whichever you chose. Just make sure to leave whichever as you met it. "I reply as I climb into my bed and wrap myself back up with my duvet, and I feel her staring at me for a few seconds in rage, and then, just like that, I feel her presence leave. But I don't bother to open my eyes to check or see how she chose to leave. And although she's left the room, the tender smell of her perfume still lingers in the air of my room.

To be honest, I'm quite indifferent about this Wedding. On the contrary, I want to see where this would end. Especially Theresa. I want to see how she'd handle this, and how she'd take it if we eventually do get married.
