Chapter 9 How Vile Could He Be

Tessa's POV;

It's a cold morning, and I had to leave my bed, to go downstairs to attend to one of my father's brothers who "surprisingly" came to visit.

My dad was moved to the hospital earlier this morning, and he commanded that I stay home to get some sleep and can only go to see him in the afternoon.

And after hours of pacing about in my room, I was finally able to get some shut-eye, and this uncle of mine chose to ruin that with his unwanted presence.

"Tessa! How are you!? Look how big you've grown! "Uncle Lucas exclaims on seeing me as I walk into the garden to meet him. And the fake affection and caring smile his putting on almost makes me throw up in my mouth.

"Good morning, Uncle Lucas. "I greet with a straight face as I shove my hands deeper into the pockets of my hoodie for warmth, and his sick, fake smile doesn't leave his face. I know why he's here. For the past ten years, he has never come here to pay a visit. But suddenly, after my father gets seriously ill and hospitalized, he chooses to visit.

"I'm fine, Tessa. But how are you? "He questions, and I almost roll my eyes.

"I'm fine... "I reply, and he's quick to speak again.

"No no no, Tessa. I mean, how are you, really? "He questions and I look up at him with rage building in the depths of my stomach.

"Let's walk. "He then says, and I reluctantly agree. Walking out of the shade, into the soft morning sun with him.

"I heard my brothers been hospitalized. "He says as we start walking, and inhale deeply. Trying my best to expand my patience which is rapidly thinning out.

"Yes, he has. "I reply sharply. Keeping my gaze up ahead at the vast field of greens, trees, and flowers, and he speaks again.

"I heard he has cancer. "He speaks again, and I draw another train of air into my lungs.

"Yes, he does. "I reply again, and silence follows for a few seconds.

"I also heard that... "He begins again, but I cut him off.

"My father has leukemia. He has days left to live and is currently at the hospital. Is there anything else you want to know? "I question. Stopping in my tracks and turning to my uncle, and he turns to look at me.

His blue eyes mirroring mine. I remember when I was much younger and loved this man. I loved being around him and all the stories he always brought with him to tell me by the fireplace.

But that was until I grew older and got to know the kind of snake he is. He dupped my father countless times and has never shown any true remorse for any of his actions because he knows my father is too kind to his family. After all, they're all my father's younger brothers.

He's my father's direct younger brother and shares a strong resemblance with him, but even at that, all I feel is disgust and irritation every time I look at him.

A viel man who would pick money over his family any day.

"I... I didn't come here to interrogate you, Tessa. I only came here because I'm worried about you. Your father is about to die soon. You're unmarried and still oh so young. Who's going to look after your father's fortune when he's gone? Did he write a will or something? "He finally speaks, and I freeze in awe for a second.

Awe at this man's audacity and nerves.

"You came back here after ten years, and just found out that your brother has blood cancer, and has just days left to live. You didn't even bother to ask for the name of the hospital he's at, but you're asking if he wrote a will? "I speak in pure awe, and his face falls.

"No... No, Tessa. It's not like that, I'm just worried about you..."He begins but I cut him off.

"Get out of my father's house... "I speak as I step away from him, and shock takes up his face.

"Tessa, I... "He begins, but I cut him short again.

"Get out now, on your own, or I will have the guard throw you out, Lucas... "I command further, and he gives me a horrified look.

"What's gotten into you, Tessa!? "He questions and I lose it.

"Will you leave, or should I use the guards!? "I scream at him, and his face falls.

He stares blankly at me, and my irritation passes its maximum level of endurance.

"For the love of God, leave before I make myself forget that you're family! "I scream further, and I watch his face get squeezed up in rage.

"You have no manners young lady, and I promise to correct that for you once your father dies... "He says, and my heart clenches. How could he say that about his brother!? No care sympathy, or love!! How did a man as good as my father, get stuck with such disgusting creatures as family!?

"Matteo!! Release the dogs! "I scream in rage at his words and my uncle's face goes pale.

"Yes, boss... "Matteo replies and instantly the sound of barking dogs rent the air. I look ahead and see all six, tailless Pitbulls running toward my uncle and I watch in silence as the man begins to run for his dear life. Trying to get to the car park and into his car before the dogs get to him.

Without waiting to see what happens, or if he escapes or not, I turn around and head into the villa, with his words squeezing my heart furiously.

"You have no manners young lady, and I promise to correct that for you once your father dies... "

He actually wants his eldest brother to die!? Is that how vile he is??

My father's brothers are the sole reason I get thankful sometimes that I have no siblings...
