Chapter 5 I NEED A PARTNER NOT A ROBOT

Seeing that May was no longer paying any attention to him, Prince Ash sighed and walked out of the room with the two people behind him.

"Do you think there is any hope of using her?" Desmond asked skeptically.

"She is a special person that's for sure" Reign muttered with a smirk.

"Why? What do you see in her? " Prince Ash asked noticing the peculiar glint in her eyes.

"She's cold and guarded" Reign replied.

"So someone like you then" Desmond raised his brows disdainfully.

"Not like me" Reigns replied ignoring the hostility in Desmond's tone.

"She is cold to herself too, I am self concerned. She didn't even care that you saved her life, I don't think I matters to her either way" Reigns pointed out what she had noticed.

May only seemed excited at the prospect of learning her name. After learning what her name was she hadn't even asked if she had a family or anything els about herself. It was as if all she cared about was her name. When she thought Prince Ash was the one who shot her, she didn't it against him. There was neither hostility nor displeasure in her eyes even when she knew that she had lost an entire year of her life lying on the hospital bed. Worse still, she didn't show any signs of being in a hurry to leave, she had made herself comfortable.

"Doesn't that also mean that she has no ambitions or desires?" Prince Ash raised his brows stopping and turning to Reign with a frown.

"Unfortunately it does. We'd have to motivate her somehow" Reigns shrugged. She was deemed cold by others but she knew herself better. She was just a person who would rather chase after her own interests than help someone else selflessly. Although May seemed uninterested in everything, she believed that they just hadn't found anything interesting for her.

"Reign, you should stay with her. Just make sure she doesn't die and let her do whatever she wants. I need a partner not a puppet or robot. Princ Ash ordered and continued on leaving the stunned and regretful Reign behind. If she had known that spouting her understanding of May would turn her into a guard she wouldn't have said anything.

When she returned to the room, she saw May drawing a sketch. Curiously she walked closer to the bed. May looked up at her and retuned her attention to the book before her without paying much attention to Reigns, she wasn't at all disturbed by the idea of someone watching her.

A few minutes later, she finished and stared at the sketch she had just drawn. It was the woman she saw when she passed out earlier.

"It only takes one" she muttered.

"One bullet" she added after a while feeling sad and mournful but unable to tell the reason she felt that way.

She is beautiful" Reigns sincere comment came from beside her and she nodded subconsciously to it.

"She is probably dead" She added in a pained tone.

"I could find out her identity for you" Reign offered.

"No. I'd rather wait to have my memories back" May refused shaking her head. She didn't want to feel conflicted with her past self after recalling her memories so she was consciously avoiding learning anything about it.

Reigns shrugged without a care and noticed the two residents who had returned to their card game. She joined them while May resumed her sketch.

Two days later, Meera and Reigns walked around the hospital earnings glances from the doctors and nurses who saw them. It wasn't because of their looks or anything but their odd dressing style. Meera had a long lace jacket on a cream colored t-shirt and jean trousers. And May was still wearing a grey sweat wear. It was provided by the hospital but May didn't know that it was not the standard patient clothing not that she would care even if she found out about it.

They soon left the patients ward an arrived at the hospital cafeteria where May stopped and turned to Reigns.

"One to ten. How wealthy are you?" She asked.

"I use a debit card provided by the Kranio" Reigns lied. She had her own personal card but since Prince Ash asked her to care for May and May had no money, she assumed it wouldn't be a problem to use the Kranio debit card every Rank 4 member was provided with.

"How wealthy are they?" May asked with a crease in her brows. She still didn't know what the Kranio was.

"You can spend as much as you like without any worries" Reigns shrugged. After all they were only in a hospital cafeteria, what could May possible buy here that would be too much for Prince Ash?

May reached out her hand causing Reigns to stare at her incredulously but she didn't waver and eventually, Reigns gave her the card.

Ordering a good meal, May ate to her fill. Fortunately the food provided by the cafeteria was not as bad as the one provided to patients.

Reigns watched May eat wondering what the girl had in mind. Doctor Mera had allowed her to leave the room to go meet with a therapist on a different floor of the hospital building but May who had shown no prior interest in leaving now we now all of a sudden taking advantage of the opportunity to fill herself.

"Let's go out. We can go see the therapist later" May said to Reigns. She knew the reason Doctor Mera allowed her to leave was that Reigns was with her.

Out of consideration of Doctor Mera's preference, Reigns wanted to refuse but then she remembered the words of Prince Ash and she could only sigh and nod.

Later, May had Reigns take her to a Mall where she got sweatpants, a mobile phone and an earphone before they finally returned to the hospital. Without going to her room, May followed Doctor Mera's instructions to the therapist's office.
