Unfaithful, greedy businessman deserved it. Unsurprised. I've met businesspeople, politicians, etc. 1% of A city doesn't impress me. In my view, they're all well paid scam artists willing to sell their souls. I'm the Universe's answer to all that decadence-I'm karma made flesh.
I'm headed towards the hotel's main exit when I see a gathering. I'd assume something significant is occurring based on all the cameras and news vehicles. I heard S city 's ambassador was staying here, so maybe it's her.
I take a big breath and leave by one of the side doors, trying to be as discreet as possible.
One female reporter says, "Yeah, he's a letdown." "I assumed mayor Benson would be different, but..." When I leave the throng, I can't hear her, but I don't need to. mayor Benson is a disappointing new commander-in-chief.
You'll be disappointed if you believe anybody in W City.
mayor Martin Benson seems to be catching up. Did you notice how I double-entendre'd another sex scandal?
Critics of the mayor were quick to argue that he was cheapening the position, and Speaker of the House Vincent Walker was the loudest.
The Speaker told me, "Themayor has a job the A city 's people chose him for, and I urge he spend more time doing it and less time studying the ins and outs of all the gorgeous W City women."
My heart feels tense, and I stuff a balled fist into my suit trousers pocket.
Where is A city 's interest in the everyday?
I see Doris. Do not be fooled by her little stature. Her tenacity is bulldog-like.
Shaking my head, I respond, "My personal life isn't relevant." I've gone to tremendous lengths to keep my personal life quiet .
Doris nods, "Yes, but there were rumors."
Doris says, "You've guarded your personal life so fiercely that it's made others inquisitive." The public is fascinated about you since you're young, gorgeous, affluent, unmarried, and the youngest mayor of A city .
"Well, I view it," Doris adds, "as the press digging till they obtain something,So, I believe we should give them something."
"Like?" I try not to seem doubtful.
"A wife," says Doris. Well, a fiancee.
"We could have a news conference," I say, rising and pacing.
"Yes," says Doris. "Perfect, then you can say you're engaged."
This approach seems ridiculous, but it may work.
"Okay, now that we have everything sorted out, who will play the phony fiancée? ."
"I'll manage it. I know precisely the gal."
I worry what I've gotten myself into as she grins and leaves.
Arcadia's pov
I've been trying to figure out why the mayor's chief of staff invited me to a meeting. At first, I thought about turning her down right away, but I can't turn down Doris Simpson without seeing what she wants.
Oh, Doris Simpson. I was her classmate. We've lost contact, so I'm wondering why she's come to me now.
I only look up when my coffee bar dor iis knocked.
"Yeah?" I yell.
"Thank you for taking the time," Doris says as she looks around and nods approval.
I ask Doris as I settle down
Doris and I had shared pals from our school days. But we never spoke.
I warn myself as I attempt to interpret Doris' face.
Before Doris can respond, I remark, "If the mayor wants to blackmail his opponents, I'm out."
"Oh? I see," she says, a grin on her lips. "But you're lucky. My proposal isn't blackmail. We want you to be Benson's fiancee. A false fiancée, fine, but it needs to be credible.
" If you accept this position, you'll be his fiancée so he can rebuild his image."
Brain controls me here. The reptilian part of me that just thinks about sex is screaming yes. It wants to smother Martin Benson in my body. His cock in my face. His cheeks and squeeze.
The silent part of me wants to condition becoming his phony fiancée on his taking my virginity. Then feces on me. I swallow it.
"We'll pay you generously." Maybe she thinks she can reach me via my money account if she can't emotionally.
"No," I sigh. As you can see, I'm doing well,.
"50 million," she says, and I'm stunned.
"I told you, I'm doing well," I say, attempting to seem nonchalant while my heart races. With that much money, I could quit wooing elderly guys for a career. As great as it is, I don't want to do it my whole life.
"1 billion," I say,
Doris pause,s and I can see she wasn't ready to settle for that much. Alas.
"Okay,"
As she stares at me, she shakes it. When I look at her, all I see are piles of cheques.
Arcadia
The mayor's house
"Tynet Dawson, the vice mayor.
"Yes," I nod and grin at the apprehensive faces surrounding me. The vice mayor, chief of staff, and other members of the mayor's inner circle are briefing me on the narrative I'm meant to sell to the press.
"I met Martin at a charity event t. We were mutual friends. Martin's large heart pushed our relationship into something more. I didn't want to be in the limelight, so he protected me. Martin and I had been dating on and off for a long, but only after the last controversy did we realize we needed one other. "
