Chapter 3 I DON'T WANT TO FEEL PAIN

THIRD PERSON POV.

" Is something wrong with my question," Jessica asked. " No, I was thinking about something," he replied.

" I feel like they mistake me for someone else," he lied. " Because I couldn't find a reason why they wanted me dead," he went on.

" Oh, that's sad, so you would have died for someone else," she said, sounding a bit annoyed.

" So then, what is your occupation?" She asked. " I'm a businessman," he replied.

" Enough about me, why were you about to jump down," he asked. Her expression changed immediately he had asked.

" Just some issues," she mumbled. " What kind?" He asked.

" Well, I caught my fiance with my best friend," she reluctantly answered. This cause him to laugh a bit, as it wasn't something he had expected.

" What funny?" She asked as he saw her serious eyes. " Wow, you are fucking serious, you actually wanted to kill yourself for a guy," he said in an amusing tone.

" People normally kill themselves because of debt, that's an understandable cause, but for a guy, did you think about your family, your love ones" he yelled, causing her to scoff.

" Laugh all you want, and yes I actually did kill myself because of a guy. And he wasn't just any guy, he was the man I thought I could call family since I didn't have one, him and her were people I thought I was leaving for, because they were the only one I thought I had apart from my brother who for the past ten years have been in coma, and currently I don't even have a love one, I don't have anyone to even miss me when am gone," she let out.

Tears flowing from her eyes, she picked up her phone, going outside. This left Damon speechless as he immediately regretted his choice of words.

He played with his fork, debating whether to follow her or not, before finally dropping it and going after her.

Following her footsteps, he was able to locate her in the playground. She sat on the swing, her head facing down only looking up when he was closed to her.

" Look, I said the wrong set of words and I didn't mean to," he says. His mouth becomes heavy as he struggles to apologise.

She smiled at his expression, enjoying his struggle. " I'm sorry," he sharply said. .

" Is this the first time you apologise to someone," she asked as he nodded, seated in the next swing.

" Don't you communicate with people," she questioned. " Well, people are usually scared of my appearance," he admitted.

"Well you don't look scary," she muttered." Let's say you don't know me fully," he says.

" So are we cool," he asked, not getting an answer. " You know, I had an impression that they are alive because of the house," he justify.

" Are you trying to defend yourself?" She asked as she stared at him. She inhaled loudly, looking at the building.

" This house is the only thing I have from my parents," she replied. " It wasn't easy getting it," she went on.

" I created a false story of it being hunted, to scare buyers, till I could get money to buy it from the market," she finishes.

" And people actually believe it?" He asked. " Well, my brother would sneak out of the orphanage and come here, he would scare the family that lives there, so when two families left saying it was haunted, who would want to stay," she answered, this made Damon laugh.

" I can't believe I was selfish, I actually forgot about him, I promised to be by his side when he was awake, yet I failed that promise," she mumbled.

" I would have said thank you, but I'm actually treating you for free, so you don't need it," she said.

" Well, I wouldn't have been in this condition without you," he pointed out. " Don't push it, mister," she warned as he laughed, as they both laughed.

" So tell me, don't you have any loved one worried about you, maybe like your wife," she asked.

" No, are you trying to ask me if I'm single," he says. " Are you single then?" she questioned.

" Yes," he answered as she gasped. " No, I don't believe it, a handsome guy like you, still single,I don't believe" she said.

" Wow, you just compliment me, do you want something from me," he said, reusing her words.

" Come, let go inside, I want to change your stitch," she says, heading towards the house ahead of him.

" Well, I'm telling you the truth, I'm single," he clarified, running to catch up.

" Then are you the player type," she asked, shutting the door. She was already at the fifth step when she realized he was still at the door.

" You are a player," she said. " Let's say life's situation made me so," he replied, resuming his steps.

" How?" She questioned with raised eyebrows.

" Let's say, women dated me only because of the money and status I offered, as I accept to satisfy my sexual need," he replied, walking past a shock Jessica.

" So let's say that maybe we are the same person after all," he went on.

" No we are not, I didn't have someone who used me," she defended.

" So you are saying that your fiance didn't use you to attain his personal need," he questioned.

Jessica pauses a bit in her words, as she realized that all through their years they have been together, she was the only one earning. This expression on her face confirmed his words as he smiled.

" Like you have not done stupid things for love," she defended, as he shook his head.

" I haven't," he brags. " Well, one day, you would meet a girl, who would make you recklessly, a girl who would push you against all your principles and boundaries," she says in a lovely tone.

" I don't see that happening," he claims as she smiles. " Take off your shirt," she commands, as he follows.

" I don't think you would know when that will happen," she mumbled as she started undressing his words, humming as she attended to his wounds.

" Well, within this week, your injuries will improve with a few scars," she said after she was done, only to find him sleeping.

Her humming had made him fall asleep easily. She giggles as she places him well on the bed, covering him.

She brought out a blanket and laid down on the couch opposite the bed, covering herself as she laid asleep.

The next morning, Damon had woken up to hear sounds coming from downstairs. Taking the scalpel from the table, he heads down, planning on using it as a defensive tool.

However, it has backfired as he only startled Jessica. " Fuck, i didn't know it was you," he defended dropping the scalpel.

" Oh my gosh," she muttered, still having goosebumps of what just happened.

" It's understandable, you nearly got killed, so you might want to be defensive, however this place is safe, I promise," she assured, picking up the scalpel.

" And I think I should be careful where I leave this," she says, staring at it.

" Aren't you supposed to go to work?" He asked. " I did, there weren't any patients, so I came back," she replied.

" I also took one week off," she added. "Why?" He asked for a puzzle.

"Well, I saw my ex and my former best friend and I don't think I'm ready to face any of them," she replied.

" Want to watch the resident with me?" She inquired. " What is it about?" He questioned.

" Well, it is doctor related, don't think you would be interested," she replied, her tone dropping.

"What can we both watch together?" She questioned. " I will pick," he said.

He wasn't a movie type, however he felt watching a doctor show would be boring, so he scanned through his option, stopping at a movie with a bloody back.

" this would do," he said, putting it on, and sitting down. " that horror," she muttered.

" Why are you scared," he questioned. " No, I'm a fan," she lied. " It wouldn't be there if I don't watch these types," she defended, grabbing the popcorn and sitting next to him.

" I thought you said you watch this," he teases, halfway through the movie as Jessica had turned him into a human shield.

" I'm not, I just like your scent," she lied, as he laughed at her words. " It's true, I'm not scared," she defended, as his facial expression still show doubt.

" Fine, I'm going upstairs," she announces, standing up and leaving.

Seconds later, she timidly came back, her step getting his attention. " Fine, I'm scared, " she admitted as he chuckled,. pausing the film.

" Well, that was fun," he muttered. " How was the movie fun," she asked.

" Not the movie dummy, you," he replied. " Wow, so you enjoy torturing people," she says.

" To get what I want, yes," he admitted, standing up off the TV. She rolled her eyes at his statement, as she headed to the couch to pick up her phone.

" Now I understand why you don't have any friends," she muttered, heading to the kitchen.

He follows her, hearing her upset tone. " You are not seriously angry are you," he questioned.

" Yes, you made me watch a scary movie, I only watch that when I have someone to cuddle with, but now I'm single, and I have to try falling asleep with those memories in my head," she replied, drinking her glass of water.

" Well, you said you could handle it," he defended. " Here you go, blaming it on me," she said.

" Fine, if you're so scared, I could cuddle you for the night," he offered, her reaction causing the glass in her hand to fall, scattering as it hit the ground.

" Don't do that" she mumbled. " Don't do what?," He asked. " Making offers like that," she replied.

" Why?" He questioned. " Because, I fall very easily, and I don't want that, I don't want pain," she answered.

" What if I told you what I wanted," he questioned. " What would you do," he asked.
