Chapter 7 7

Evelyn

Even though it took a while, Ramos and I were finally able to consummate our relationship and become one. I can't remember a time when I didn't fantasize about being in his company. I was aware of the fact that I had never in my wildest dreams envisioned spending our first night together and losing my virginity in such a way, but despite this, I found that I enjoyed it very much, and the process was relatively speedy.

After he rescued me from the alpha, it became my responsibility to rescue him as well as myself. I simply cannot picture a time in my life when I will no longer have him in it.

While we were both walking and delving deeper into the forest, I couldn't help but sneak a few glances over at Ramos. Even more embarrassing is the fact that I forgot to inquire about his future plans. All that I was aware of was the fact that we needed to break away from the pack and continue walking until we found another pack that was nearby.

Consequently, I pulled Ramos over and asked him, "Ramos, may I ask you if you have any plans?" as we continued on our journey.

Ramos nodded and continued, "the only plan I have for now is to reach the green warrior's pack and find a job and a house for us. The only thing left for us to do is to act as though we are already mated and that we have misplaced our identities on the way here."

It wasn't a terrible idea; even if I had to share a teeny-tiny room with him, I wouldn't feel sorry for myself about it.

I managed a feeble smile before responding, "okay, then let's get to work on it."

In addition to that, we proceeded to stroll slowly alongside one another. I won't deny that it was incredibly creepy and dark there. However, after a little over a half an hour, we arrived in the territory belonging to the green warriors' pack. It was already time for the sunrise, which was a very unfortunate turn of events.

At that very moment, I was so feeble and scared to death; I couldn't have imagined that there were so many warriors standing at the borders of the territory.

I clung to Ramos's shirt, gulped nervously, and asked him anxiously, "There are too many warriors. What if even one of them found out that we are trying to hide something from them?"

I came dangerously close to speaking in a tone that sounded as if I'd lost my voice.

Ramos appeared concerned as well, but he made an effort to reassure me that everything was going to be all right. He cupped my cheeks with his large but gentle hands and told me, "Don't worry, no one will ever realize. We will be successful in the end. However, once we reach the gates, I would appreciate it if you could excuse us and go to the restroom. Okay?"

I frowned and asked in a bewildered tone, "but why? What if they decided to prevent me from continuing?"

He gave me a sly grin and asked me in an arrogant tone, "look at you? Who would have the audacity to try to stop such a stunningly beautiful girl?"

I leaned in close and gave him a passionate peck on the mouth, and I couldn't help but feel that his reassuring words were giving me a boost of self-assurance. When I was with him, I always had a sense of security, but at this time, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was getting weaker and that I could lose him at any moment.

We took a few deep breaths, inspected our appearance, including our clothing and our hair, and then walked up to the entrance gates. Ramos came up to the warriors and said, "Good morning, we are here looking for a job." The warriors acknowledged Ramos's greeting and stood there.

After performing a quick check on each of us, they questioned us by inquiring about our identities.

Ramos shrugged his shoulders and said, "Unfortunately, we lost them while walking all this distance; my car broke down, and we walked for miles until we reached here. Even Evelyn is experiencing extreme fatigue as a result of the long distance she has traveled while wearing her heels. Could you please give her some privacy while she uses the restroom first?" he approached them in a courteous manner and asked.

Then, however, one of the leaders intervened and asked me, "before letting you go to the bathroom, let me first ask you who you are," after which I was stopped.

It was Ramos who introduced himself, saying, "I am Ramos Kingstone, and she is Evelyn Kingston."

But when the leader checked me more thoroughly, I hastily said, "we are siblings. I am his younger sister."

For some reason, I felt compelled to tell them we are a siblings so they wouldn't keep asking us for stuff.

Ramos looked at me, and I could tell by the look on his face that he was taken aback; I was sure that he had no idea that I was going to say something like that. On the other hand, I just don't feel comfortable saying that we are mated yet. What if they asked us questions about our house, our neighbors, our mating ceremony, or our relatives? I was aware of everything there was to know about him, but I was not familiar with all of his relatives.

When I looked down at the ground, the leader finally said to me, "okay, you can go to the bathroom now." I was relieved. "Please allow me to ask your brother before you are allowed to join the pack."

I gave a hushed nod and almost dragged my feet until I reached the public restroom, but I was so focused on getting there that I didn't notice that I had accidentally entered the men's room. An elegant man whirled around and stared at me as if he had never seen a she-wolf before, but as he came closer, I could tell he was an alpha. His body odor was potent and distinct, but his gaze was something else entirely; it was as if he could read my mind just by the intensity of the look he gave me.

I immediately looked down at the ground and apologized, saying, "I'm sorry, I didn't realize that this was the men's restroom."

After that, I dragged my feet as quickly as possible out of the room, and I walked back to Ramos. Before I could reach them, Ramos reassured me that everything was in order by giving me a head nod. After that, he expressed his gratitude to the leader, took my hand in his, and stated, "let's go; I arranged everything."

I couldn't help but shake with cold. Despite this, I was completely clueless about the reason. But I just couldn't get out of my mind that dominant appearance!

Ramos thought I needed a jacket because my hands were cold and I was slightly shivering; he asked me, "are you okay? Take my jacket."

I gave a frustrated sigh and pleaded with him to leave, shaking my head as I did so. "Can we take a taxi?"

After taking a look in his wallet, he confirmed, "yes, I do have money."

I was in such a rush that I quickly raised my hand in order to stop a taxi. Thank the gods that this pack was so large, and that they had a modest airport close to the borders of their territory. Because of this, there were a great number of stores and taxis; once the taxi stopped, I said, "please, let's go,". I told to the driver without having any idea where we were going. I wanted nothing more than to get far away from that location.

The conversation between Ramos and I did not take place. Only looking at me in a peculiar manner was all he did.

On the other hand, the driver inquired, "so to the nearest hotel?"

Ramos responded while maintaining eye contact with me and said, "yes, please. However, you should make it into an Inn. Something that is not overly burdensome to ones wallet."

Therefore, the driver gave a simple nod and then continued driving.

After fifteen minutes of moving, we arrived at the inn, which meant that we were sufficiently removed from our pack and the border, as well as from the strange alpha that I happened to run into by accident in the restroom.

As soon as we set foot inside the inn, I let out a long, contented sigh. After Ramos had made the reservation for us, we went ahead and went to our room. As soon as I entered the room, I let out a sigh of relief and thanked God that we were out of harm's way.

But I failed to take into account the possibility that Ramos might be upset because of what I had said at the entrance to the pack.

"Did you just say that we are related as brothers and sisters?" "Why didn't you tell them that we are mates?" he almost grooaned in exasperation. He seemed to be experiencing a great deal of dissatisfaction.

I heaved a sigh and stuttered out, "I am sorry, I don't know why but when the leader gazed at me for a long time, I got scared. I came to the conclusion that it would be best for us to be siblings for a little while."

Ramos was still not persuaded, and as a result, he was very angry with me. In spite of this, I attempted to elaborate on my point in the hopes that he would comprehend my concerns. "Listen," I said, "we are away together, and all of our pack knew that you killed the alpha because you love me," I hoped that he would comprehend my worries. " In light of this, everyone anticipates that two lovers will flee together. But things have changed, and we are no longer mates here. Our relationship is that of siblings. So if anyone asked about us, they would say that no other members of our pack had arrived here. Got it?"

Ramos furrowed his brow and said, "okay, you convinced me, but you did have a point."

I gave him a gentle kiss on the lips, and then I looked around at the filthy room and said, "it's too tiny and dirty. Do you feel comfortable saying that this location is free from danger?"

Ramos let out a long sigh and looked around the room before saying, "well, I guess we'll have to stay here until I find a job. I am unable to allow our funds to be frittered away on hotel rooms."

I understood his point of view, but to tell the truth, I couldn't bring myself to spend the night in that room. It only demonstrated how bleak our future could possibly be. What a way to start off the first day with the new back! Then, what would happen if we were unable to locate suitable employment? Our money, sooner or later, won't last forever; it's just a matter of when.

As soon as Ramos saw how disheartened I was, he said, "I told you to stay there."

I scowled at him and asked, in a low voice, "How dare you say something like that after everything that we have been through together? We are mates and friends. I am not going to leave you."

After that, I went to the door, locked it with the keys, and stood there alluringly while saying, "Well, at least we can continue doing what we started a couple of hours ago."

I wished to kill some time while also putting our worries to rest, at least for the duration of our first night with the new pack.

Although we heard a lot about how enormous and incredible that pack was, we never went there to check it out for ourselves.

Ramos drew me to his lap and murmured in my ear, "yes, we should continue now." "However, before that..." After a brief pause, he turned to me and said, "I think we should look for something to eat. Permit me to go down and pick up something to eat for the both of us. I'm aware that you're looking for something to eat."

I nodded and replied, "okay, sure. Allow me to accompany you if that is okay with you."

He leaned in and kissed my forehead before telling me, "No, you stay here. Take a shower, and get ready for me." I couldn't help but feel self-conscious as he winked at me. I loved him more than anyone could ever hope to comprehend loving another person. On the other hand, I was completely oblivious to the fact that our love could never last.

Ramos shut the door behind him and I was left alone in the room; I was unaware that he had stashed all of the cash under the mattress. Because there was no personal shower in the room, I was required to use the shower that was located in a hallway between two other rooms. After I had finished, I was surprised to hear Ramos calling my name and telling me, "sweetheart, I am here."

I had nothing on but a towel wrapped around my body when I sprinted over to him. My entire body was covered in little droplets of water. Seductively, Ramos licked the inside of the corner of his mouth and said, "I think I should eat you first."

I had a red face, "I believe that the first thing we should do is eat. In addition, I'd used the shared bathroom/shower between the two rooms because there isn't a private shower. It's my opinion that by tomorrow we ought to have located a room that's both cozy and affordable." I didn't feel particularly at ease in that environment, which is one of the reasons why I made the suggestion.

But then Ramos's eyes widened, and he asked me, "do you mean that you left the room and didn't lock the door?"

I blinked and said, "no, I couldn't lock the door." I was confused.

Then all of a sudden Ramos reached under the bed and yelled, ""Oh my God! someone stole our money."

I was shaking as I stammered out, "What? What do you mean?"

Ramos's hands were hidden from view as he clenched his fists and clenched his teeth in anger "I forgot to bring my wallet with me, so I left all of my money here instead. For the sole purpose of purchasing the meals, I brought along only a few dollars."

And that was the moment when I came dangerously close to passing out. I could only make out the darkest parts of what was in front of me. I could see death approaching, and I could see a miserable life ahead of me.
