"Yes, we have arranged everything. and she is settled in". "Good," he he remarked with a nod "But why didn't you go for the other girl Uhm" he tried to remember her name.
"Aida? Yes that one". " I work with brains, not agility"
"You never say that to the girls". "they don't need to know" The significance of that, Mr. Patrick
proposed, was to have the girls as blindfolded as much they could. That had always worked.
"Do you think, Dormos would suspect anything?"
"He is smart, but not so smart," he said, but Patrick did not fail to notice the look of fear and despair in his eyes. Duong himself knew he was playing with fire and whoever played with fire without caution, could get burned. Duong knew that and never failed to remind the mobsters
anytime one of them tried to challenge him. Now the table had turned, and it wasn't in his favor.
Dormos was too dangerous and if Duong had kept to his part of the deal, this conflict would have been over before it began. Duong in his nature would choose violence instead of peace and that could cost the whole confraternity. judging from the fact that Dormos was that enemy that shouldn't be toiled with.
Patrick watched as Duong filled his cup to the brim and gulped the content. squinting his eyes as a result of the hotness of the drink. He wasn't as tough as he proposed to be, Patrick knew that. All this was an act to make it known to the other members that the confraternity was still in check.
Ever since Vito. the capocrimine of the
confraternity died and Duong was chosen as the new capocrimine, Patrick at that moment knew that the confraternity won't be guided well by Duong as a result of his unending taste of wrath and vengeance
"It's risky, you know," Patrick said, running his finger over the top of his glass that stood on the table. She might go around blabbing about Ghista and you know what that means"
"She won't dare" *You don't know that"
"Aanya is too meek to do that"
"And if she does, the police would pick this up. It would be such an interesting case for them to handle. They are unto you, and I'm certain that you are aware of it"
"The police can't do anything"
"You know, it gets to a point where power isn't enough to save a man"
"What are you implying?"
"If you hadn't angered dormos, this wouldn't have happened in the first place"
"It doesn't have anything to do with me. Dormos always had it in mind to kill me, he was just looking for a trigger"
"And you chose to be it?"
"It wasn't my fault"
"Then whose fault it is" Patrick voiced out
"Don't you dare raise your voice at me, I'm still your boss, and you have to show me the due respect" Patrick said
"I'm sorry," Patrick said, gritting his teeth inwardly to hide the anger that he was feeling inside. He knew well enough that if Duong goes down, then the whole confraternity will follow, including him, and he wasn't ready to go down for anybody.
Aanya looked around, and her eyes caught view of two guys rushing towards her with full speed. She panicked and decided to make a run for it, just like Stacey did. She tried to run, but she wasn't swift enough as one of the guys caught up with her, held her by the wrist, and turned her
around roughly to look at him. Likewise, she gulped as soon as their eyes met.
The piercing on his ears and lips were noticeable, accompanied by the numerous tattoos that were visible in his neckline. In other words, he looked dangerous.
"What are you doing to my door?" he asked coldly, and a shiver ran down her spine. She tried her best to wiggle her way out of his grasp, but it was almost impossible. Judging from how strong and intimidating he looked, she couldn't seem to think of technique to use on him. Her head just chose to be blank when she needed help. She tried to punch him with her other hand, but he had a fast reflex, grabbing the other hand, the moment she raised it to strike. He knew well enough that she was trying to escape, and he wasn't going to let her go until he gets her to talk.
Aanya cursed inwardly at how stupid she was, following Stacey to a random room to break the lock. Now, she was already in trouble on her first day in school. She shouldn't blame herself. She thought Inwardly. How could she have known that Stacey was lying about the room? Well, she could still blame herself for not minding her business and not paying attention to Stacey's proposal, now look where it landed her, what she was trying so had to avoid had already caught up with her. 'Try not to get noticed' was officially
canceled in her head.
" I asked a question," he said in a deadly whisper, and Aanya's heartbeat picked up the pace. Her mouth felt too heavy, she couldn't say a word. He glared at her, and that look had her trembling.
"Uhm she * She told" she stammered.Bnot being able to talk properly. lt was as if his gaze was pinning her down. how was that even possible?
"You are not talking" he shouted in her face and she flinched out of fear Did he really need to shout, she thought Inwardly? He just succeeded in making things worse for her. Beads of sweat
gathered on her forehead in fear.
"I don't think she even understands what you said" the other less intimidating guy and the gentleman in front of her turned to look at him
Aanya found that as an opportunity to strike. He wasn't paying attention. She swung her legs back as far as she could stretch, then she kicked him hard on his knee, making sure the impact was enough to dislocate the limb.
"Dammit!" He said through gritted teeth as he groaned in pain and immediately left her hand. This was the opportunity she was looking for. She ran as she could, not wanting to turn around. She felt that if she turned around, he would succeed in pinning her with his cold gaze.
Furthermore, she wondered how he was able to do that. Now, Stacey had gone, she just made a
fool out of herself, and she couldn't still find her room. How dumb could she have been? She reached in her pockets and took out the map once more as she groaned in exasperation. How badly she wanted to lay her head on a pillow and
rest.
"You made it" Aanya heard from behind.BShe knew that voice, and it could only belong to one person. How could she forget the voice of the person who got her into trouble?
"You?" She shot and turned to look at Stacey who leaned on the wall, a few meters away from where Aanya stood.
"Relax," Stacey said, rolling her eyes at Aanya." It wasn't much of a big deal"
"Much of a big deal? I almost got killed"
"Woah" Stacey's eyes widened in
amusement."Alex is dangerous, but i don't think he would kill you"
" You haven't been told the rules, so, how Would you know"?
"What rules?" Stacey squinted her eyes confused
"It clearly stated, you aren't allowed to enter into someone else's room"
"Who the fuck made that silly rule?" Stacey said amidst a snicker.
"I can't tell," Aanya said, realizing that she had said too much, unknowingly.
"I don't know where you got that, but there is no such thing like that rule, here in Jexs college. You can go over to anybody's room you like, you can fuck as much as you want in there and no one's
gonna care. Well, that's if you do your business quietly though" she said and Aanya cocked her eyebrows confused.
"You know what? Let's just take you to your room" she beckoned on Aanya and signaled her to hand the map over, which Aanya did.
*Woah, same room with Madison? RIP your academics she stated with a smirk on her face as she stared at the map and Aanya wondered inwardly what she meant by that statement.
"Let's go," she said and started walking while Aanya trailed her from behind. If she had been in Ghista. Aanya thought inwardly, she would have had a gruesome battle with Stacey for almost landing her in trouble. Breaking into someone else's room, was insane!
"Why?" Aanya said, and Stacey turned around to look at her with a confused look on her face.
"Why did you make me break into Someone else's room?"
" It's okay Aanya, we already sorted this out," Stacey said and continued walking.BShe turned around in exhaustion when she discovered that Aanya wasn't tagging along.
"It's not okay, and I don't appreciate being fooled around" Aanya stated, and she meant it.
"Jeez you are so impossible" Stacey muttered.
"Fine I'll tell you, but not now, though. Let's get you to your room. We almost there" she said, brushing the topic off again, and it was beginning to piss Aanya off.
They walked for a while, and Stacey finally stopped in front of a room door. She turned swiftly towards Aanya.
"And this is your room she pointed to the brown wooden door that stood not too far away from them. Aanya didn't fail to notice the loud music that was being played behind the closed doors of the room and she wondered how these people were able to do whatever they liked. She wasn't even allowed to listen to any form of music back in Ghista. except the hymns they normally sang daily. Stacey walked to the door and was about to open it when Aanya stopped her.
"You can't go into my room" Aanya cautioned and Stacey rolled her eyes at her, opening the door. totally ignoring Aanya's warning
"And you are weird as fuck" Stacey remarked, stepping in and Aanya followed from behind.
The music that was played in the room, was loud and ear-piercing. She shut her ears with both of her hands, and Stacey just appeared to be unaffected. The room had a red light, instead of the normal white color that she was used to, and it made it difficult for her to see. It was not so big, neither was it small. lt was just okay, but not as big as the one in Ghista.
She should really stop comparing here to Ghista. She thought inwardly.NStacey flicked a switch and the room was lighted properly. lt appeared that Stacey was familiar with the room and Aanya wondered how.
Aanya was still trying to ascertain who in their right sense would play a piece of music that loud when a door opened. Aanya immediately noticed that it was the toilet door. A girl walked in with a toothbrush in her hand. Aanya's mouth dropped when her eyes caught hold of the girl. She was
different, way different, ranging from her strange punk hairstyle, which was tinted, gold, and the shaved part was tattooed all over. Now, Aanya was sure that everyone in Jexs college was crazy!
