Chapter 5 No Longer In Shape

Claud's eyes darkened. He wasn't looking amiable.

Then he noticed the woman's face was red. Clear enough, she was drunk.

Isabella continued as if she didn't see his gloomy expression. "And, has anyone ever told you that your body figure is extremely terrible now? Did you even have enough to eat when you were abroad? Aren't you the heir of the GL Group? How come you lived such a miserable life?"

She obviously meant that he was no longer in his perfect body figure.

Nevertheless, it was just a lie.

Claud had always been in a good body shape. When they were still together, she was obsessed with his abdominal muscles all the time.

Now, when Isabella secretly rubbed her fingers, recalling how it felt with her hands against his firm muscles... she realized they seemed so much better than before.

This was the difference between a young boy and a mature man.

Claud's assistant was exasperated upon hearing that.

No one dared to say something like this to Claud! Was this woman seeking her doom so desperately?

When his assistant was about to deal with this bold woman, Claud uttered again, "Years have passed. Yet, Miss McCoy, you haven't grown up at all."

The assistant stole a peek at Claud and wondered if whatever happened before his eyes was an illusion. Claud seemed to be a total stranger to him at this moment.

How could he be so tolerant of a woman? This wasn't like him at all!

Not giving in, Isabella retorted, "Mr. Lambert, you're nowhere better."

Claud was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Now, with the title as the heir of GL Group, he was even more glamorous and promising.

Although Isabella was the daughter of the McCoy family, her mother preferred boys to girls. Averie became more disappointed in her daughter and treated her colder than before when she found out that Isabella was pregnant. Thus, it somehow summed up that she had no real power in the family.

Even so, Isabella didn't want to admit defeat in the quarrel with Claud.

The two parted in discord eventually. Isabella couldn't find Norris. She tried to call him, but no one answered.

At this moment, she was feeling drunk, and the alcohol was causing her head to throb in pain. Leaning against the corner, she waited for Norris to call her back.

The night was chilly. Isabella rubbed her icy-cold arms and decided to wait in the car.

As soon as she stepped out of the hotel, she saw that man again. The one whose back was similar to Norris'. He was talking to a woman. Isabella shook her dizzy head, wanting to have a clearer view of the front.

It was Frieda. She had changed into a new, sky blue dress. It looked very similar to the one Isabella was wearing. Flashing a sweet and innocent smile on her face, Frieda held the man's arm, and they got into a car together.

Isabella wanted to chase after, but it was too late. The car dashed away quickly and disappeared from her sight.

She rang Norris up again. However, his phone was switched off. Left with no choice, Isabella staggered to the parking lot alone. While looking for her car, she wanted to call for a designated driver.

She had been anxious throughout the party just now because of her vigilance. Now that she was relaxed, she was feeling different sorts of discomforts all of a sudden.

Her stomach was churning, and she was nauseated.

"Car... My car... Where are you, you little devil? A-ha! Found ya!" A drunk Isabella murmured and giggled goofily.

However, she could no longer suppress the urge to throw up. She puked before reaching her car. Most of it was spat onto the wheel of the car beside her. The seemingly new tire was instantly in a nasty mess.

A man got out of the car shortly after and walked up to her. He trembled upon looking at the disgusting sight in front of him. "Hey! What the heck are you doing?"

"I'm sorry." Isabella apologized, too weak to even raise her head.

The driver didn't intend to let the matter slide as simple as that. "Do you even know whose car this is? Do you know how much it costs? I don't think you can even afford the maintenance fees!"

Well... She didn't know the answers to his questions indeed.

She was the daughter of McCoy family. However, at this moment, she was being ridiculed by a mere driver, saying she couldn't even afford the car maintenance cost.

Fury boiled in her chest. She lifted her head and retorted, "How do you know I don't have enough money to pay? How much is it? Tell me, I'll pay for it!"

"Open your eyes and see clearly. It's the latest Maserati MC20. The market price is now two hundred and fifty thousand dollars!"

"I don't care how much it's worth. Just give me an amount!" She looked at him and leaned against the car to stand upright.

Right then, steady footsteps approached, followed by an aloof yet familiar voice. "What happened?"

The driver was intimidated when he saw the man. "Well, Mr. Lambert, this woman vomited at the car. I'll deal with it right away!"

Claud stared at her coldly. It was Isabella again!

As he moved his eyes to the mess underneath her feet, his face turned livid gradually.

Taking a deep breath, Isabella apologized, "Sorry, I didn't mean it."

"Isabella McCoy," Claud called her name.

After being apart for five years, this was the first time she heard him say her name.

Isabella forced back the tears in her eyes. She didn't want to have any more connection with him.

Taking out a stack of cash from her handbag, she slapped it against the driver's chest. "Is this enough? Don't try to fool me. You just need to wash the wheels. Even if your car is worth two hundred and fifty million dollars, this sum is enough for you to wash the wheels clean."

The thirty thousand dollars she had recently withdrawn was supposed to be for something else, but now she needed to use it to solve the current problem first.

Looking at the woman's retreating figure and Claud's grim expression, the driver murmured, "Mr. Lambert, should I ask someone to teach her a lesson?"

Claud pulled back his gaze from Isabella and instructed indifferently, "Get me another car."

"Yes, sir!"

Then what about the drunkard? Were they going to let her go just like that? The driver dare not voice out his thoughts. He decided to bring another car over for Claud first, just as he was told.

On the other side, Isabella found her car and got in finally. Moving the seat backward, she reclined on it. She didn't bother to contact a designated driver anymore. She rolled down a quarter of the window and then shut her eyes.

When she parted her lids again, it was because of the chill that bit into her skin.

Glancing at the surroundings, it was only then she remembered what had happened to her. The huge parking lot was left with just a few cars. No one else was around. She looked at her phone. It was forty minutes past three in the morning, and there was no missed call. She smiled bitterly. Putting the phone aside, she started the car and drove away.

A few hours later, Isabella was at work when she finally received Norris' apology message. She took a glance at the text. It read, "I'm sorry, Isabella. Yesterday, there was a last-minute dinner engagement. I was drunk and unconscious after that, which was why I didn't pick you up, nor did I hear your phone call. I'm sorry."

Isabella chucked her phone aside and didn't make any reply.

It was a serious matter! How could a single message dissipate her anger? She wasn't that easy-going and soft-hearted.

Isabella was about to apply a facial mask and then head for sleep when she received a call from Norris. It was nine o'clock in the evening.

She took her time to pick up the phone. "Isabella, come downstairs now," Norris said anxiously as soon as the line went through.

"For what?" Isabella was still angry.

Norris smiled and replied, "I come to apologize to you. I'm waiting for you downstairs."

Apologize to me in person? This is more like it! Her mood lightened. "I'm still having my facial mask on though."

"It's okay. I'll wait for you."

"Okay!" Throwing the mask away, she quickly splashed the water on her face and ran down the stairs.

As expected, Norris was there. When he saw her coming, he opened the trunk of his car. Taking out a large bouquet of flowers, he then walked in her direction.

It was only a short distance, but there were a lot of things going on in her mind.
