Chapter 9 Expose Her True Color

Before Sheila could figure out what was going on, Winnie ordered the maids to push her down to the floor.

As the maids pinned Sheila down, Winnie squatted and slapped Sheila across the face. "Have you already forgotten your promise? If my friend didn't call me from the set, I wouldn't have known that you secretly tried to seduce Gerald.

Not only did you take off your glasses, you also wore such slutty makeup. Didn't I say I'd destroy your face if you disobeyed me?"

Another hard slap stung Sheila's face, but there was nothing she could say to explain herself.

Because no matter what she said, Winnie wouldn't believe her.

Sheila gritted her teeth and clenched her fists silently. Her heart sank as she thought about Ivan's condition.

Such being the case, how about...

"Yes. I wanted to seduce him. Then, I was going to tell him that I was the one who slept with him that night, not you. I was also going to tell him that you're nothing but a gold-digging thief." Sheila struggled to get on her feet and smiled at Winnie, as though she was ready to die.

"Do you have a death wish?" Winnie grabbed Sheila by the collar, wanting to tear her into shreds right then and there.

Regardless of her aching body, Sheila looked back at Winnie unflinchingly. "As long as you make sure Ivan gets operated on smoothly, I promise you that I'll never show my face in front of Gerald again."

"How dare you threaten me?!" All of a sudden, Winnie burst into crazed laughter. She let go of Sheila and looked at her calmly. "What makes you think Gerald will believe you and not me?"

Winnie was still smiling like a madwoman. Her voice was bone-chillingly cold. "As long as your face is destroyed, everything will go back to normal."

To Sheila's horror, Winnie took a small knife from a maid and she started to approach her. Sheila, trembling with fear, retreated a few steps.

Winnie was out of her mind!

Just as Winnie closed in on her, Sheila squeezed her eyes shut and held up her hands defensively.

"Stop!"

Enoch ran to protect Sheila. His cold gaze swept across the people present, until his eyes landed on Winnie. "Sheila's your sister. What the hell are you doing?"

"Dad, she tried to seduce Gerald just because she looks like me. Can't I teach her a lesson?" Winnie whined.

Enoch turned to Sheila and asked in a low voice, "Is this true?"

Sheila shook her head with tears rolling down her cheeks. "I just met him coincidentally..."

When he saw the grievance in Sheila's eyes, Enoch's heart softened. He wiped away her tears and said gently, "I know. It's not your fault."

After a pause, Enoch asked with concern, "How's Ivan?"

"He's in bad condition. The doctor said he needs to receive the next phase of treatment. Dad, can I..." Sheila hesitated, wondering if she could borrow some money from her adoptive father.

"I'll help you look for a bone marrow donor," Enoch comforted her immediately when he picked up on her hesitated tone.

"Dad!" Winnie complained, wanting to stop him.

Enoch's expression darkened. He glared at Winnie and warned, "Shut up. We'll talk about this later. I don't care how angry you are; you can't do this to your sister."

"She's adopted for crying out loud! Do you really regard her as your daughter?"

Winnie spat unhappily. Without waiting for a response, she turned around and left angrily.

The second she became Gerald's wife, she'd erase Sheila from the face of the earth.

Enoch watched Winnie leave. He seemed to want to say something, but then stopped on a second thought. He sighed with a complicated expression, turned around, and gestured at Sheila to leave, too.

Thanks to Enoch's promise, Sheila felt as though a weight was lifted off her shoulders. She thanked her adoptive father and then retreated to her room.

In that moment, Sheila made up her mind to stay away from Gerald.

However, just a few days later, something firmly connected the two of them together again.
