Chapter 5 Kneel Down And Swear

All throughout the meal, Gerald looked indifferent and didn't eat much.

After discussing the date of the engagement with Enoch, he didn't want to stay any longer. He stood up, intending to leave.

"Mr. Lamont, let me see you off."

Enoch followed Gerald out meekly.

Herbert had been wanting to leave since the beginning, so he didn't hesitate and quickly followed his brother.

Just as Gerald made it to the door, Sheila had returned from the bathroom. The two ran into each other once again, and his cold eyes landed on her.

After a short pause, he looked away.

"Hey, are you okay? I'm so sorry for what happened just now. Be sure not to wet the burnt area for a few days." Herbert approached Sheila with concern. He felt guilty for what happened.

"Don't worry. I'm fine." Behind Herbert, Sheila could see that all the members of the Newell family were staring at her. It was Winnie's gaze in particular that made her feel pressured.

Knowing that Winnie was angry, Sheila just wanted the Lamont brothers to leave as soon as possible.

Seeing that Gerald had looked at Sheila, Winnie was seething with rage. Gerald was clearly indifferent when it came to her, but he had bothered to look at Sheila.

Sheila must have seduced him behind her back! She needed to teach that dumb bitch a lesson!

After Enoch saw Gerald and Herbert off, there were only Sheila, Winnie, and their mother left in the private room.

"You fucking bitch!" Winnie slapped Sheila hard across the face.

"Ah!" Sheila cried out in pain, cupping her swelling cheek.

Seeing the handprint on Sheila's face, Miranda stepped forward to stop Winnie. "This is not the place, Winnie. Teach her a lesson at home."

Winnie snorted and took a tissue to wipe her hand as though she had touched something dirty. Glaring at Sheila, she sneered, "You're lucky!"

In the Lamont family's house, recalling Winnie's disgusting behavior, Herbert pursed his lips unhappily. "Gerald, are you seriously going to marry that witch?"

Gerald frowned slightly, recalling how he had instinctively repelled Winnie when they met earlier. He kept silent and didn't answer his brother's question.

On the way back home, Sheila felt as though she was sitting on eggshells.

Nervous and anxious, she clutched her trousers tightly.

After getting off the car, Enoch and Miranda went straight to their bedroom, leaving Winnie and Sheila in the living room.

Winnie winked at the maid meaningfully and then walked over to Sheila. With a sneer, she yanked her by the hair and hissed, "Wear this wherever you go, especially in front of Gerald. If I find out that you seduced him, I'll see to it that your so-called brother dies."

Winnie's disgust was clear as day. If it weren't for the fact that she still needed to use Sheila, she would have destroyed her pretty face by now.

Just as Sheila opened her mouth to answer, the maid suddenly poured cold dishwater on her face, leaving her face greasy from leftover food.

Before she could clean her face, she felt her hair being yanked hard.

Sheila gasped in pain and was forced to raise her head.

"Kneel down and swear to me. Otherwise... Well, you know the consequences," Winnie said threateningly.

"I..." Sheila held back her tears. She clenched her fists so tightly that her nails dug into her palms.

If it weren't for Winnie's money, she couldn't afford Ivan York's medical expenses with the money she earned as a stand-in.

She treated Ivan as her own younger brother. For the sake of him, Sheila had no other choice but to swallow the pain and humiliation.

Sheila squeezed her eyes shut and fell to her knees, landing with a thud.

Her face turned pale from the pain, but she bit her lips willfully.

Kneeling on the cold floor, Sheila lowered her head, her voice choked with sobs.

"I swear, I will... I'll never seduce Gerald!"
