Chapter 4 IMPOSSIBLE

Crawford didn't intend to turn in a foreign environment, but he couldn't contain the thrill. His wolf kept pushing itself out, and he had to do it or his wolf would physically torment him. He wasn't usually like this, even with the supermoon.

Crawford had good control over his wolf, but this time it was determined to get out. He ran as soon as he shifted and caught a scent, foreign yet so familiar.

The alpha snarled in his form. He followed the scent and found a woman. The moment they locked gazes, he knew that the woman was his mate. The woman just stared at him with confusion in her eyes.

He called for her. Crawford was expecting her to respond, but he couldn't form a link with her. He was confused. He tried to approach closer, but the woman was suddenly in pain.

Sapphire collapsed on the ground even before Crawford could shift back. He immediately did so and approached the woman.

"What is happening to you? " he asked after picking her up and letting her lean against a tree. He was panicking. He had no idea what was happening to the woman.

Sapphire blinked a couple of times. Her eyes changed to her wolf's, then she totally lost her consciousness. This time, the man managed to catch her.

--

"Wolfless? It's impossible. I saw her eyes change before she lost consciousness. " She heard an unfamiliar voice as she opened her eyes.

Sarah rushed to her after seeing that her daughter had opened her eyes. Sapphire still felt dizzy, but she pushed herself to get up. She looked at her mother, clearly asking for an explanation.

"You lost your consciousness. Fortunately, the alpha of Northwood found you and brought you back. " Her eyes widened, the filling in of information cleared her head, and so did her memories of what happened.

She looked at the man and gave a nod, "Thank you, alpha. " She spoke and gave a small smile.

The man looked confused, but he eventually reciprocated the smile and went out. Sarah gestured for her to lie down again, but Sapphire insisted that she was already okay.

"I just got dizzy earlier. Maybe because of the heat, I'm fine already. " Sapphire didn't want to worry her mother. Werewolves have a higher immune system, and they can't get sick except for occasional headaches, which was the effect of the moon. It's rare, but it happens.

Sapphire's body almost became a normal human after the incident. The first time she had a bad fever, everyone in the house panicked and didn't know what to do because no one had experienced it before.

"Are you sure? Don't you need to go to the hospital or do you want anything to eat? " Sapphire gave a small smile. She truly appreciated her mother's effort to adjust for her.

She got up and even turned to show her mother that she was okay, "See, I'm okay. You don't have to worry about me. Instead, you should worry about Raven. He's probably glaring at him by now. "

Her mother also glared at her, "I'm serious, Sapphire. "

"So am I. " She lied. She's still feeling light-headed, but she has to show everyone that she is doing fine. That is how she copes.

--

Sapphire was finally permitted to get out after an hour of "mandatory rest". Most of the pack members have already come back from their run. She could feel people's stares on her again. Probably because losing consciousness is such an odd thing for them.

The stares were the least of her priorities right now. Her eyes automatically tried to find Crawford. She wanted to properly thank the alpha for helping her. It didn't really take long to find the man, but she couldn't get near him. Not when her heartbeat escalated once again.

With a loud sigh, she walked back to one side and tried to figure out what was happening to her. It was not as bad as earlier, but the minimal ache lingers. She tried calming herself, and it was a bit effective, except that Crawford was approaching her again after talking to their alpha.

"I think we should talk. " He initiated the conversation without beating around the bush.

Sapphire was still wondering why the alpha of the Northwood pack was approaching her, but she promptly answered as to not sound rude. He was the one who saved him, after all.

"Thank you for helping me earlier. But I don't want to bother an alpha anymore. Besides, what do you need with someone like me? " She tried to smile despite another headache.

Crawford doesn't know why everyone kept saying that Sapphire was wolfless and even his mate kept on talking down to herself. He could feel his wolf complaining and so was he. It was impossible that the woman was wolfless because he could perfectly feel the bond.

It takes every ounce of his control not to pounce and claim his mate. The full moon being near its peak only fueled his desire for something that he knew he didn't deserve.

He held the woman's hand and gestured for them to get out of the place. It felt like there was electricity that circulated between the both of them the moment their skins touched. Crawford saw the surprise in her eyes, but her lack of resistance confirmed that she was okay with it.

Curious eyes bore into them; they were the center of attention at the moment. Many, mostly women, are looking at them with envy and contempt in their eyes. All of which faded as if they were the only people in the place.

They walked out of the pack house and walked far enough for the pack not to hear them with their enhanced senses. Sapphire doesn't even know why the man was bringing her away from the pack house, but she couldn't really stop the man when he pulled her away.

"What do we need to talk about that doesn't have to be heard by the rest of the pack? " She asked as soon as they stopped. Her eyes weren't focused on his face but on Crawford's hand, which was still holding hers tightly.
