Chapter 5 AFTER 1.4

Nathan drops at the dumpster, then Edward jumps, and lastly Helen." Come on, the car is right here," she said with a clear voice.

Edward, Helen, and Nathan find the police car in the parking lot, it was the only car left as most of them are wrecked and burning, they enter the vehicle Helen is on the wheel, and Edward is on the passenger seat, and Nathan is on the back.

Helen tries to start the vehicle, and a deranged person slams himself into the car using his head, and another jumps in front. Edward pulls his pistol and shoots the deranged people in the head.

The vehicle finally starts, and the three of them leave. Helen rams the deranged people breaking their bones, driving off the road. They are nearly out of the city, the three of them calm down, yet their face is still shocked.

Helen fixes the rearview mirror as she glances at Nathan with a worried face," Are you okay, Nate?" she asks while darting her eyes at Nathan.

Nathan's eyes are dreaded by fear and breathing heavily," No... I-I do-don't know what the fuck is happening, mom," he said with trembling lips.

Edward looks exhausted and tearing up with sweat on his face." We need to get out of the city, the gas station, there's a gas station outside of the city. I told George that we will meet there." he said as he looks pale and weak.

"What gas station," asks Helen, her forehead creased as she looked at him.

"Clark gas, new market," said Edward with a faint voice.

"Are you alright?" Helen asks as she pats Edward on the shoulder, and her face looks anxious.

Edward smiles, and his eyes lit up," I'm alright, just tired,"

Helen glances at Edward," Rest for a while, honey you suffer more than I did. I'll wake you up when we reach the new market," said Helen as she lay her soft hand at Edward, he smiles as he feels Helen's hands and lay his head on the window.

Helen glances again at the rearview mirror," Hey," she said with a faint voice.

Nathan glances at him anxiously and scared," It's alright to be scared," said Helen with a faint smile.

"Sophia," said Nathan bluntly.

"She is still in the city," Nathan said as he darted his eyes at Helen glimpsing at her in the rearview mirror.

"I know, you understand that we can't go back... Those people aren't normal, they're sick, and I don't know why," she said as her face is clouded with sadness.

Nathan looks at the window as he stares from afar. The smokes flew through the air, and the buildings were on fire he closed his eyes frozen in grief the experience that he had was traumatizing.

Twenty minutes have passed, and the disaster of the city is dwindling as they pass the Wheatfield he opens the window and breathes the fresh air that he felt this morning, the scenery of the sunset is refreshing, calm, and oblivious through the surrounding. Nathan tends to smile, yet as his eyes open his father is awake. He moves strangely tilting his head up, and a dim voice came right out of his mouth," No," Edward said with a whisper.

Nathan notices his father Edward is different his heart is battering as Edward opens his eyes, and the iris is gone hastily Nathan shouts," MOM!" Edward is now a deranged person and lunges at Helen with a growl, his eyes are pale as snow, while red veins start popping in his eyes. Helen's grip on the wheel loses, and they crash into a post.

Edward flew off the car, his face slammed on the ground. Nathan hit his head on the seat that makes him unconscious.

A couple of minutes Nathan wakes up injured and exhausted," Cough* cough* Mo-," Nathan looks around at the thick smoke and sees Helen coughing, but blood is dripping in her sit.

Nathan kicks the glass window of the car and exited," I- I need to get you out of here, tell me how to do it," He said while tears are gushing out of his eyes.

Helen smiles, and her eyes lit up," Look at you, my boy," she said as tears begin falling in her eyes. Her face is calm and proud. Gradually she put her hand at him even its trembling and bloody she strokes her thumb at Nathan's cheeks.

"No no no no! Don't give up yet mom!" said Nathan as he grabbed her mother's arms tightly.

"Nate. I'm sorry... Survive, survive, don't give up, and never lose hope..." Helen said with a faint voice as the last tear falls to the ground her eyes closed.

Nathan cries out, slamming his hand at the car rapidly while he shouts out of anger," No, no, no!" then he notices, like the same man who stood in their house, but it's his father standing there as the sun slowly dies he illuminates Edward face the other half is gashed out like grilled meat his right eye is still clinging by the veins, his left arm is dislocated and the bone of his left knee bulge out. His two eyes are darted in Nathan.

Nathan grabs the small magnum in the car and stands in the middle of the road his hand is tingling, and his head is numb he points the gun at his father, while his hand is trembling.

Edward moves his right foot while his fearless eyes dart at Nathan. He still aims the magnum at Edward but is hesitant, nervous as he breathes," I... "Nathan closes his eyes, and his tears are solely painful, it falls like a hard rain, and the clap of thunder is his heart battering immensely and loudly that breaking his mind.

Edward hastily walks while he drags his left foot, while Nathan is chilled in his deep gloaming of sorrow. The realization of immense despair in his eyes, the gun drop in the ground as Edward lunges at Nathan. The two of them drops on the ground; he tries his best to push his father away from him, as he shouts in fear, he crawls on the ground until he has the courage to stand up.

Nathan punches his father in the face, and his right eye soars in the air and drops to the ground. Nathan kicks him in the chest and run towards the small magnum lying on the middle of the road, and as soon he turned his head around. He pulled the trigger, and thus the body of his father falls to him.
