Chapter 4 iv

Callum's POV The moment I heard the sound of a car, I knew she had arrived. Filled with excitement, I left my study and went to the entrance to meet her. I came out of the entrance to see the frame of my best friend step out. With blue eyes and bright blonde hair, Lillian had reappeared in the flesh. In a rush I walked and embraced her and spun her around, bringing a high pitched squeal to her lips. After turning around I let her go safely on the ground. "Long time no see Lillian." I said, smiling fondly at her.

It was all true; it was so good to finally see my best friend after such a long time. "I could say the same to you Callum." She replied back. Suddenly, I felt an unusual pull in me, an urge in my mind that told me to look somewhere. Following the urge, I turned to the side of the house, only to see nobody in the distance. Was it all just in my head? "Callum?" Lillian's voice called broke me from my trance and I turned my head to meet her green eyes. "Are we going to stand here all day or can we finally go inside?" she asked in a snarky tone, giving an amused smile. I smiled at her and led her inside, ignoring the feeling from earlier. It was probably nothing anyways. So tell me Lillian, how were your travels? Those words seemed to open up the Pandora's Box as she began to talk ecstatically, her words coming in a rush. I tried my hardest to keep up with her, nodding and smiling as she spoke. While the servants took her belongings to place them in the guest bedroom, I led her to my study, where we sat on opposite couches. Shortly after, a servant walked in asking if anyone needed anything. Lillian ordered a cup of tea and the maid left before she rested on the couch. "It feels so good to be back." Lillian sighed as she admired the room from her seat. "Feels like ages since I was here. Everything feels so new." I chuckled at her words "Trust me; you're going to get bored of it pretty soon." "I'd bet you on that." She said, raising her arms and arching her back for a stretch. I could not help but be fixated as she did so. As she arched her back her breasts pitched out, straining against the dress she wore. His eyes couldn't escape it. I couldn't help but admire the milky skin and It was not oblivious to me that Lillian had changed. As I drew her in for a hug I could feel just how much she had. She had become more beautiful. My eyes trailed to the arch of her neck. I wondered how it would feel to trace her neck with my tongue. Or to suck a hickey into it. Would it bruise easily? I realized what I was doing the moment I felt my groin tighten. I quickly whipped my head away from her and focused on the mahogany table in front of me, trying to stop my erection from rising any further. What was wrong with me? This was my best friend for years. She wasn't one of my past flings. "It was so stuffy and constricting in that car- Callum?" "Huh?" In my attempt to quell my reaction I had completely blocked out her words. "Are you sure you're okay?" She asked, her eyes filled with worry. "No. It's nothing. So as you were saying." I implored, She began to speak again, telling me about all her travels and events and I listened to every single bit of it, asking questions and making appropriate reactions to it all. Once she had exhausted the topic she rested on the chair and took a sip of tea the maid brought for her. "So, I've been talking all this while. What about you? How has it been here?" she asked while placing the cup back on the table. I gave a shrug "Nothing much has happened. This place is as boring as I said earlier." "Oh come on." She slapped the couch lightly "surely something interesting must have been going on, maybe a new event or a girlfriend perhaps?" I nodded my head in negative "Nope, nothing I can think of, and you know that I'm not into those kinds of relationship things." No doubt, many women came in and out of my room every day, yet it was all for physical release. She seemed to keep quiet and I looked to see her with a hesitant stare "You haven't found your mate yet?" She asked. I felt my happiness dim at the question. It was and remains a sore spot for me. It had been years since yet I had not yet come across my fated one. She seemed to notice the look on my face and was about to retract the question but I answered before she spoke. "No...I haven't." I say, averting my eyes to focus on the table. None of us spoke and it was silent. I looked at her to see a mysterious expression on her face. She turned to me and I saw that she looked sorry. "I'm so sorry." she said, apologetic. "It's okay." I reassured her, already used to it. "I'm sure you'll find her soon Callum." she tried to comfort me. I simply nodded in agreement to appease her. "Besides," she says in a brighter tone "you never know. She might be much closer than you think." For some reason, my mind goes to the strange feeling I felt earlier in the entrance and nod in agreement "Yeah..." Awkward silence ensues before she suddenly announces. "So, now that I'm here, I believe an outing is in order." "But you just traveled here." I said, raising an eyebrow "Shouldn't you be resting?" "Hell no." She made a pouting face which made me chuckle. "I'm not tired at all and I definitely want to see everything I've missed around here. There's no time to waste Cal." I chuckled and nodded agreeing with her. There was no winning this fight after all. "Sure. Sure. But you should go to your room first. I'll wait for you outside." "I know the way. I haven't forgotten that much." She laughed before stepping out of the room, leaving me alone. I sighed before standing up and walking to my desk, grabbing the car keys. Lillian's POV I used my memory to reach the guest bedroom, where as I expected, all my belongings were. Closing the door, I lay on the bed, closing my eyes and breathing in the fresh air. I opened my eyes to stare at the ceiling. It had been so long since I came back here, constantly busy with travels. Despite being familiar, everything seems to have changed. Just like Callum In the time apart he had become more handsome. I could see the slight stubble f his cheek, and his hair had grown longer. He looked stunning. Oh, how much I loved him. I had these feelings ever since I was a child and he met me, years have passed and he still remains the only one I love. Despite me having flings here and there, I never strayed from loving him. Which was why now, I had to use this chance to win him over. I recall how ecstatic I was when he told me that he hadn't found his mate yet. I felt joy bloom in me despite having to cover it up with an apologetic expression. The absence of his mate shows that I still have a chance of making him fall in love with me. Inwardly, I prayed to the Moon Goddess that his fated mate never comes. Only then will I have the chance to win him over. I sat up the bed and reached for the closest where, as I expected, all my clothes were arranged. I changed my clothes to one more suited for the day, putting on a stretchy knitted top that enhanced my bust and a pair of high-waisted jeans to show off my small waist. I left the room to come back to the entrance, where he was waiting for me by the car. I noticed his eyes roaming t my body and smiled to myself, happy that my efforts weren't going to waste. "So, shall we get going?" I asked, pulling him out of his stare and back to my face. He nodded a bit rigidly. "Yes." He answered. I sauntered down the doorstep as subtly as I could, letting my body move seductively. I could feel his gaze on me. He opened the door of the front passenger seat, ushering me inside. As I sat in the car, I let the victorious smile curl up my lips. Sooner or later, I will win his heart.
