Chapter 9 The Rebound

* Present*

Aayat laid in bed thinking how she tortured herself for hurting Abyad and now she could understand how he felt. However, nothing in the world could change what Abyad did. She wished she was a bit selfish and never broke up with him the first time itself. She saw her Abyad change into someone she barely knew.

* 3 years back*

Aayat's p.o.v

I could barely process what was happening to me when I was jerked awake by Rabia who was scolding me. I was deadly confused as to what did I owe this honor. After a while of listening to her lectures, I realized that Meher was behind this.

I face palmed myself, I just hope she did not go further than telling Rabia about this. Rabia, on the other hand, was threatening to hit me if I refused to eat. I was still arguing with her about the same when Adarsh barged in. He looked guilty, he gave me a bone-crushing hug and whispered sorry.

I tried to push him away, but I did not have enough strength to do so. "I am fine, you are suffocating me," I informed so that he could let go. "I should have been there; I know it must be difficult for you," he said.

"No, you're not at fault, you did not know. Wait!!! How come you are here all of a sudden?" I questioned. But I got my reply when I saw Meher standing in front of the class with a smile plastered on her face.

Before I could say anything to her, I got a call from Abyad asking me to come to the backyard garden. I let out a frustrated groan and walked out to the designed destination. After waiting for around 15 mins, the final showed up. Though I desperately wanted to see him, I knew that he was deeply hurt.

Adarsh's p.o.v

As soon as Aayat went out, Meher was all set to follow her but I stopped her. "Give the girl some space, will you?" I asked as I retracted my hand from her wrist. "I don't need any advice from you" she stated, clearly annoyed by m presence.

"Feisty much? Anyway I know where she went. We can go an see the most award-winning show in a few minutes but first what about we chitchat for a while?" I suggested hoping that she would warm up to me.

"You know my name already, what do you want to know more?" she asked taking Aayat's seat. "I am Adarsh and I am sorry about earlier couldn't resist a cutie like you." She cringed at the word cutie, but she shaped a good comeback, "hold on your horses, will you? I know I am cute I don't need to hear it from you. I sighed, dealing with her was more challenging than I thought but I loved challenges.

"Come on, if we are going to collaborate and get these two together you need to be nice" I informed. She rolled her eyes and stood up to leave. We walked around the campus in silence, trying to find Aayat. Not that I did not know where to find her, but I wanted her to have some alone time with him first.

After spending twenty minutes checking all the places she could, she finally decided to go to the backyard. She was surprised to see Abyad feeding Aayat and she was eating silently. A cute smile displayed on her face upon seeing this.

Aayat's p.o.v

When Abyad left, I tried to process whatever happened. Abyad showed up but only because he cared. His eyes were filled with anger, hurt, hatred and despair yet he was here caring for me. I wish Zinat was by my side now, but I knew it was impossible to have her back. If she was here maybe things would have been easier for me, but I chose this.
