Chapter 5 The Fall

Abyad's p.o.v

I woke up with a smile on my face thinking about the date we had. I prayed Tahajjud to thank Allah for bringing her in my life. She was a ray of happiness, sweet and shy. I loved that about her.

She took away my breath by her behaviour, I was amazed by how innocent and fragile she was. She made me want to cocoon her away from the rest of the world.

I studied a bit until it was time for Fajr then called her in hope that she would be awake as well, but she was not up. I took note to talk to her about it when we get closer, I did not want to scare her away. After prayer, I helped my parents in the shop then retrieved to my room to study for my A-levels. At around 10, I received a text from Adarsh asking me about my date, I smiled just thinking about it.

I told him that I liked her and not to bother me too much. Adarsh was a good friend but I did not appreciate his way of thinking sometimes. I was going to put my phone away when I received Aayat's text.

Walaikumsalam, how can I morning not be good with such a cute wish?

I instantly smiled and texted back.

Glad you liked it, how was your beauty sleep?

After a few minutes, she replied.

It was so good, that I missed Fajr. I think it's high time I put an alarm

I could feel the sarcasm behind the so good line, but I ignored it.

I can be your alarm if you want.

I hesitated a bit but sent it anyway. She did not reply immediately, I supposed she left to begin her day. I went back to resume my studies. After a few hours, she agreed to my suggestion which made me smile.

Like this, one month passed and we grew closer, I would wake her up every day and stayed with her on the phone until she would eventually get out of the bed. This became our daily routine. However, she seemed distant lastly, as if something was eating her up. I was planning of proposing to her to be with me until one day I can marry her, but she hit me to it with a heartbreaking line.

She broke it off with me saying that we would never be able to be together. I wish I could believe her; I did not know what to say so I just replied OK. I wish I could tell whether she was lying or not, I wished I could prove her wrong but there was nothing I could do. I had to stop myself from crying, I had to distract myself.

Zinat's p.o.v

It broke me to see her like this but I was relieved that she did not push me away as she did years back. I am glad that she learned from her mistake. I just hope that she would be stronger and fight back this time instead of letting these idiots crush her.

* 4 Years Ago*

I was in the hospital bed when my mom informed me that Aayat left me a letter, which was a bad sign since I knew she must have let the darkness take over her. I sighed and read the letter:

Hi Zinat,

By the time you are reading this, I would be gone already. Please don't come after me, this is for the best. We cannot stay friends... she will hurt you again and I cannot afford that, you are way too precious for me to let my friendship with you come in the way of your safety. Please take care of yourself.

I knew she would do something as stupid as that, but who can blame her, she cared about me. If that was her wish I would keep my distance until she finally could stand up for herself. I would make sure that she would fight back, and bring justice for herself. I just hope that she did not break it off with Abyad as well, that guy was a gem for her.

Aayat's p.o.v

I was broken beyond repair, but I knew what I had to do now, it was time to fight back, I had to protect Zinat and all my loved ones and Raina had to pay for what she did. This was her endgame; she should prepare herself for the worst because she had awakened the devil in me. I would not stay silent anymore, she wanted a fight she would have it but when the right time comes. I would not let my sacrifice go in vain.
