Chapter 3 I Have Crossed The Rubicon

Enzo stood up from his seat and nabbed Zeta's shoulders; he pinched her face and asked, "why didn't you tell me you had a boyfriend?! Was that what I sent you to do in Singapore?" He roared.

Zeta was wobbling in fear. No, she hasn't seen her father this angry before. It was all her fault. She should have let the cat out of the bag since. However, she never knew it was going to be like this. Zeta so much dotes on her father that she is conscientious enough not to anger nor disappoint him. But looking at the situation of things now, she can't easily atone for her mistakes.

Rosa stood up and rushed to Enzo; she gently grabbed his hand and tried to reason things to him, "Enzo darling, you will hurt her. She's your daughter remember. Please caution yourself so you won't regret the afterwards."

Enzo sighed and looked at Rosa; if not for this woman, he would strangle Zeta with his hands, but like Rosa said, if he did that, he would regret the aftermath; thus, he had to caution himself and control his anger. Swiftly he let go of Zeta's shirt and sat back down on his seat.

He directed his murderous gaze back at his daughter, whereas Rosa went and stood behind him so that he wouldn't make an impulsive move toward his daughter. Rosa ever so slowly caressed his back. Enzo balled his hands into a fist, ogled at Zeta, and said, "I have already signed a contract with the Ferrari family, and you will marry the heir of the Ferrari family.

I have crossed the Rubicon, and my decision is final!" With a chilling voice, he uttered these words. However, Zeta, who had doted on Bryan Tan for over six years, couldn't accept such a contract. The decision should be hers to make, not her father's. Is he trying to be in control of her life? It's not supposed to be like that. She's a sophisticated lady and a graduate of business management to top it off. So how could her dad want to be chief controlling her life?

Zeta twisted her head to indicate that she didn't concur with her father's decision. With the tears plummeting her eyes, she looked at him and said, "I'm sorry, dad, but I have to disagree with your decision. I can't marry anyone else except Bryan Tan. He's the man I love. You can't sell me off for material gain."

Enzo's lips curled up into a disdainful smile. He threw a daggering look at Zeta and spat, "as I said, I have crossed the Rubicon. This decision can't be revoked." After spatting these words, Enzo stood up swiftly and clambered the stairs to his room.

While he was stepping out, Zeta shouted, "I know my priority dad; I'm a graduate and sophisticated. I can make decisions for myself. You can't sell me off to Ferrari's heir or whatever he his. Bryan is my lover!" Tears streamed down Zeta's face contorting her once delicate and beautiful face and eyes.

Enzo slammed his door the moment he stepped inside. He ruffled his hair, pinched his nose, and hit his hand hard on the dresser in the room.

"How dare Zeta accept someone's engagement without Informing me first. Who does she think she is? Someone I sent to Singapore to study literally went there and engaged the son of a nobody, and she has the temerity to call him the love of her life in front of me!" Enzo muttered, and a sinister laugh escaped his lips.

"She must marry Ferrari's heir. Must! Else my plan will be ruined". Enzo ruffled his hair angrily.

Back in the dining room, Zeta was shedding tears uncontrollably, and Rosa tried to comfort her all to no avail. Rosa patted Zeta's shoulders and said," Zeta pull yourself together. Crying would not help issues; it will only add wood to the already burning flame".

Zeta hiccupped and said, "but why? Why can't I marry the man I love? Is it only me that's born by a business magnate like dad? I'm not interested in this contract. I can never be! Bryan and I love each other, and I can't sever ties with him Just because of dad."

"Shush, Zeta, you are not the only one born by a big tycoon like Enzo. But candidly speaking, this is how business tycoons survive in the business world. If one doesn't take leap like this, then he would be kicked out of the business world. It's not easy for him too. He's struggling to make earns meet. He's doing it for you, my dear Zeta. Try and understand your father.

I also understand your plight; I can tell you really love that Bryan guy, but as you can see, he's not even an Italian, to begin with, nor does his family belong to the business world."

"If I may ask, what does he do for a living?"

Zeta looked at Rosa pitifully and answered," he's a big-time travel blogger. Bryan travels to different countries because of the nature of his job."

Rosa arched her brow and said in a muffled tone, "travel blogger? That's not something I fancy, and neither will your father consider him worthy of being your husband. Moreover, what does his family do?"

"I haven't met with his parents, just his siblings," Zeta said truthfully. Rosa twisted her head disapprovingly and said candidly, "it can't work sincerely speaking Zeta. You don't even know what his parents do for a living. So all these six years you guys have dated, you haven't for once set eyes on his parents?"

Zeta shook her head and said, "Bryan always says his father is a busy man, and for the mother, she's in London; thus, she hardly comes home to Singapore."

Rosa sighed and shook her head. "This is weird. No matter how busy his dad is, at least he's in the country. If that Bryan truly wants you to see him, he will make out time for it, but he doesn't. Listen, baby girl; I wouldn't want you to end up with a man of low class. A man that can't fend for you. I want you to aim higher. Never settle for less. Look around you; you can attest to the kind of family you came from. The Moretti family. One of Italy's most wealthy families. Don't you know, people will be looking to see the kind of husband you will marry. And if you end up with a lowly man like that Bryan, it will defame the reputation of the Moretti's family."

"I don't want that to happen, therefore, sit up and grab this opportunity before you and augment your family's reputation." Rosa candidly spat.

Zeta glared at Rosa as tears welled in her eyes; this confirms that even her aunt Rosa would never side with her. Her words prove she's going to take her father's side and ensure she marries the so-called heir of the Ferrari family.

Pain, despair, and anger encircled Zeta's heart. She never thought this would end up like this.

Now, what's she going to tell Bryan Tan. How is he going to feel? Of course, he will think Zeta cheated on him. He will assume this was her plan because he pleaded with her to come over to Italy and introduce himself to Enzo, Zeta's father and make his intention known but Zeta said it's not yet time... Bryan will not easily let this slide. Besides, this is his six years of being faithful and loyal to one girl despite what his friends told him. Despite the number of women swimming around to grab his attention. Zeta was flustered and helpless.

After saying these words, Rosa gracefully stood up, ruffled Zeta's hair, and clambered the stairs to their room.

Alone in the dinning, Zeta burst into tears. The servants tried to console her but she refused to stop. When Rosa arrived in the room, she saw Enzo curled up on the bed and sprawled his hands with his face angled at the ceiling. You could tell from his position that he was helpless and dazed.

Zeta groggily stood up from the dining and trudged to her room upstairs. The moment she arrived in her room, she went and slumped onto her bed. Still, tears wear plummeting down her eyes.

Chunks of memories she shared with Bryan started racing through her mind. It was just like yesterday; she met Bryan. His demure eyes are what Zeta loved the most. Whenever she stares at those eyes of his, warmth flow through her body. Bryan is very fun to be with. He's the only one that makes Zeta happy, and now that her father is forcing her to end up with some unknown guy, will she be happy with him?

Zeta is not the skeptical type; she believes in giving the benefit of the doubt but looking at the situation now, she can't help but be skeptical.

At that exact time, Bryan Tan came to his favorite bar with his buddies Lindsay and Tyler. The trio had smiles on their faces as they stepped into the bar. Their looks usually draw people's attention, and if care is not taken, the person is left in a trance.

The trio sat at a space in the corner of the bar, and Lindsay called the waiter, "get drinks for us." He looked at his friends and said, "Bill's on me, guys." Lindsay was happy for some reason, and that surprised his friends. It was unlike Lindsay to order drinks for them, to talk more of paying the bill. Lindsay glanced at the surprised faces and laughed, "I know you probably wondering why I suddenly want to pay for bills, right? Okay, my Visa has been approved!" He cheerfully said.

Bryan and Tyler stole glances at each other, and their jaw dropped. "Your visa?" Tyler subconsciously asked while bulging his sparkling eyes at Lindsay.

Lindsay chuckled and nodded his head. Lindsay has been applying for Visa for over three years to move to Italy, but his application has been denied until today." I just got a call from the travel agent this afternoon and was asked to come to the embassy. I went there, and to my surprise, they approved my Visa, guys!"

Bryan stared at his friend and cheerfully congratulated him. Traveling around to different places was never a problem for him. Aside from being a travel blogger working with a travel agency, his father is a famous tycoon. Thence you can call Bryan a noble. But his friends are just living on average. Bryan was happy for Lindsay; at least moving to Italy meant starting a new life.
