Chapter 5: The Original

Regan left the bar, he has been travelling as a lonesome vampire from place to place looking for something he. When he arrived Elmond he was drawn to the bar straight away. He wasn't your ordinary vampire, there were very few of the originals left, Stannis was one of those few. Regan had been travelling most of the Asian regions for the last two decades wandering when he had had enough of their ways. No human was free, they were bred to keep the population going to supply the vampires with their blood. They worked the farms and factories to help with the food supply, one thing the vampires had learnt was if the humans were fed better their blood tasted better.

A few humans had tried to escape the prison and look for a better life elsewhere, but no where was any better, only to fall into the hands of the rogue vampires who lived on the outskirts of the cities. They were the really nasty ones, if they got their hands on an escapee the blood was drained to the very last drop and the body like vultures.

Regan had travelled over on one of the luxury yachts which was served by the humans, they had a good life with only a select few who were the 'donors', even those were treated with respect. When Regan had arrived in North America he had heard whispers from vampires that there was something in the air, something was happening but no one knew what.

He was appalled by some of the towns and cities he had travelled through and the way the vampires treated the humans, he passed through those places without stopping, everything drew him to where he is now.

Regan headed off to the vampire city to see if he could find this mysterious vampire who Anna had fallen in love with. Regan believed in the old ways where centuries ago vampires and humans lived alongside each other, humans were their allies against the underground rogues who had deformed and turned into something else. The vampires got rid of them with the help of the humans but once the war was over vampires decided they didn't need the humans as equals anymore. A slaughter happened and it was only afterwards they realised how important the humans were to them and the few higher elders took back control.

Stannis's community was one of the better run ones. He only goes out on rampage feeds to keep the fear in the humans, to make them realise who is in control, or that is what he likes to believe as they will never become equals again in his eyes. Regan had to laugh to himself when he thought of the cute bar lady Anna, she had no idea she was the cause of the shift in the air, but Regan knew there was something else brewing, something more evil than before.

Entering the city he wandered about, a few stares from the odd vampire but as he was one of the grand elders a bow of the head came from them as they realised. Stannis had been busy and created a vast city in the covens, Regan was impressed with what he had done.

He came across a large open space and watched the men who were being trained by a young vampire. Henry sensed someone was watching him, sometimes he did have the elders watch but this man was different. Instructing his men to carry on, in a blink of an eye Henry was next to the man.

"Can I help you?"

A very faint waft of vanilla came from him and Regan knew who he was.

"I believe you can." Regan smiled at him showing him his teeth.

Henry realised that the vampire was of a higher rank than himself and bowed his head.

"Excuse me for my ignorance sir."

Regan lay a hand on his shoulder and gave it a squeeze. He leaned in close to his ear so only he could hear and whispered.

"She is beautiful."

Henry's eyes turned red, his hand came around Regan's neck, he didn't care that he was an elder, only thoughts that he had touched Anna and hurt her surged through him. Regan grabbed Henry's hand and pulled it away from his neck.

"I didn't touch her." He hissed.

Henry's chest was heaving, his fingers clenching into a fist, his nails cutting the palm of his hands.

"I know you love her, I can see it in your eyes."

"You don't."

Henry didn't know a thing about who this stranger was, he didn't like that he knew who Anna was and that he loved her.

"Your secret is safe with me my friend." Regan tried to ease the situation between them, as anyone who noticed that a simple warrior vampire was threatening an elder would be strung up and made an example of. "I'm not here to make enemies with you, I'm here to help you."

Henry took a step back, he checked that his men were still working on their moves before bringing his attention back to Regan.

"What do you want of me?"

"To make love to your woman, to give her a child."

Henry was sure, if he had a heart, it would have shot out of his chest at those words.

"I can't, she is human."

"You love her?"

" With everything I have."

Henry looked at the stranger wondering what he was planning.

"Then make love to her as your woman, she will carry your child if you believe it." Regan wanted him to believe it himself.

"But it is not possible."

"Everything is possible."

Henry could feel himself getting emotional. "I love her so much."

Regan knew that he was the one, they were the ones.

"When you see her tonight, fuck her like a vampire and plant your seed into her."

Regan walked off as he could sense the men wondering what was going on. Henry let out a rush of air from his mouth. He loved Anna, he knew that, but to give her a child that was never heard of in vampire history that he knew of.
