Chapter 5 All the more reason for me to leave.

"There are still stains on the kitchen sink!!!" he yells sending a hard blow to her cheek, "I tried everything dad, but it wouldn't come out," she says praying he would believe her but even though he did he continued to slap her before filling up the sink dipping her head in the water and bringing it up back "please no she cries please know I'll try harder" She cries hoping the torture would stop

"Skai, wake up,"

A worried Tylor yells, shaking her. She slowly opens her eyes, tears streaming down them, "I'm scared, my dad" she stutters, still frightened of her dream.

"I'm here Skai," Tylor says, climbing into her bed, pulling her into him as he wraps his arm protectively around her. She sniffs in his masculine scent, relaxing in it. "you're safe sweet baby"

He says, feeling this great need to protect this fragile human. He knows this is wrong. She shouldn't be living here, much less finding comfort in his arms.

"You promise? " She asks looking into his eyes for assurance, "I promise," he says, kissing her forehead. She later drifts off to sleep, and for the first time in a long time, she sleeps comfortably.

The King watches her sleep, running his hands through her soft flaming curls

I woke up feeling refreshed. I slowly pulled myself out of Tylor's arms. I took in his facial features, wondering where he got his good looks from. One person cannot be so attractive.

I touch his face, closing my eyes as I run my hands through his facial hair. I then trail my fingers to his lips before opening my eyes to see his lips. I start playing with them. I jumped when I saw the King staring at me with something in his eyes that was difficult to read.

"I was just uh just," I say, further embarrassing myself. He smiles and rubs my flushing cheeks, "don't worry about it", he says.

"I'm glad you're up. I had things to do, but I didn't want to leave you alone in case you had another nightmare."

"stay," I say as he gets out of bed. I pull him down and wrap my arms around him.

I just want to feel safe for a while longer. "What do you have to do?" I inquire. "I uh, you know, everyday things. "

"Why are you stuttering? Are you lying?? "

He stayed silent

"Kimberly was right," I say, covering my mouth in shock

"right about what?"

He asked, turning me so he could look at my face

"it's true that you shouldn't be near me,"

"Yes," he admits

"but it's deeper than that. "

"What do you mean?"

"Humans and vampires shouldn't mix in this way, Skai; you shouldn't be living with me, and I shouldn't be in bed with you right now; I should have drained every drop of blood from you by now".

"Then what am I doing here, why haven't you yet Tylor?" I ask, trying to make some sense out of this.

" like I said, it's deeper than that ,"

I sigh " you keep saying that ,"

" Fine, the reason you're still here is simple. As I said from the first day we met, I know a lot about abusive father,"

He's right, it's deeper than that. There's something he's not telling me

I go to get out of his arms but he pulls me back down

"It all makes sense why everyone here looks at me like that. I'm very grateful for everything that you've done for me, but I have to leave. I can't be here anymore.

"You're not going anywhere, sweet baby. Have any of them tried harming you?"

"I mean your blonde vampire girlfriend threatens me,"

"One, she's not my girlfriend, just a slut. I bang from time to time. Two, she won't do you anything and three, she's not a vampire, she's a werewolf

"What, a werewolf? All the more reason for me to leave. "

"I'll protect you Skai I've been. Do I not make you feel welcome here? Do I not give you everything you ask? You are free to leave. I will not prevent you from doing so.

He says, a pained expression on his face.

"I won't leave. I just don't want to be trouble to anyone. "

He pulls me closer, his hands playing in my red hair.

I love his scent. "You do", he asks surprised

"Stop reading my mind. Why must you always do that?" I ask, annoyed.

"Because I can."

His phone then starts to ring. " let me answer this "

"you fucking asshole!, Did I not warn you?"

He yells to whoever he's on the phone with, that person must be scared he wasn't yelling at me and even I'm scared.

"I'm sorry, but I was serious last time. Just prepare for what is to come. "

He says, his voice low and scary. I tried to crawl out of his arms, but he tightened them.

" we'll see about that Allister. " he ends the call and turns to me

"You don't have to be scared of me Skai. I've never tried hurting you and I never will," he says, removing his arms from around me. I look at him to see a pained expression on his face. I felt bad instantly.

"I'm sorry," I say, kissing his cheeks

"It's okay. I didn't expect anything different.

The king left Skai's room and headed for the dungeon. He didn't care who fared him as a matter of fact he loved when people did.

But for some reason, the fact that Skai feared him pained him.

He could tell the fragile human has been through so much he just wants to protect her and make her feel safe.

He took out his dagger and approached an old werewolf that had been causing trouble.

He needed to torture someone, he needed to replace the sound of Skai's scared heartbeat with the sound of these criminal's screams

And most importantly, he needed to figure out why he was feeling those weird connections towards her
