Chapter 5 Shay's response

Jerk was back home now, he was so tired he went and took his bath and was taking a look at some of his pictures when he was still a little boy, his wife Kris who was outside seated at the balcony could see what was happening in the living room, she was alone, she called her daughter Kim to come join her and take fresh air, Kim who was in her room plotting on how to go club that evening, she was just waiting for everyone to go to bed so she could go bribe the guard in charge of the gate, Kimberly knew if she took permission from her dad to go out he was never gonna accept, so the best thing to do was to discuss with the guard and once everyone was asleep she'll gently go out, her mum was aware of this but she never said anything bad against it, instead she said Kim was still a young girl who needed to enjoy herself. That said, Kim heard her mother calling for her and she knew her dad was still in the living room, she undressed so that no one might suspect she was about to go out, she wore her pajamas and passed through the sitting room for the balcony, her dad was still seated there, she greeted him and went join her mother at the balcony, the maid later served them a bottle of liquor with some ice, she went back to the kitchen, she was arranging things to be done the next day. Kris was always happy when her daughter was around her, because once she saw Kim, it reminded her of her early age, because Kim had one face with her mum, there was so much resemblance between them. From the corridor, she heard her dad's footsteps climbing the stairs, he was surely going to the room, as Kimberly murmured to herself, she was now waiting for her mum to go sleep so she could be free. Malyse was with her maid, they were watching a movie while preparing for dinner, they were having banana and egg sauce that night, after the movie was done, Malyse told her maid what happened in school between her and Kimberly, her maid warned her seriously against Kimberly, she said, she did not like the relationship going on between Malyse and Kimberly. Malyse was a young girl who avoided problems and was unable to tell Kimberly she did not love how she spoke to her, this is because she was striving to avoid problems between her and her new friend. Shay was in the house with his parents and his younger brother Jason, they were the ones working in the house since their mum was sick and was no longer able to do difficult jobs, her doctor instructed she had enough rest, Shay was in the kitchen having dinner done while his younger brother Jason was behind washing dishes, their mum was in the room waiting for dinner, so she could eat and have her drugs. Their mum was not happy seeing them doing everything in the house, but she had no choice because they could not afford money to employ a house help as they were already having a lot of charges, her two boys asked her not to worry about that, they said it was their job to help their parents and that there was nothing bad in it, she promised not to be bothered again, but each time she saw them working, it began again. As they were in the kitchen, their dad came back, he bought some fruits from the supermarket, it was for his wife who needed them to regain energy, it was part of the prescription given to her by the doctor. He took the fruits directly to the kitchen so they could be peeled and brough to her room for her to eat. Dinner was done, Shay served the food, and went to the room to go call his parents, his dad was still taking his bath, he promised to get to the table after he was done, meanwhile, Shay helped his mum by holding her hands and they gently moved to the parlor, Jason was waiting for them already seated on the table, not long, Shay and his mum were out of the room and were now in the parlor, he arranged a sit for his mum served her and took his seat and they started eating, his dad later joined them, after they finished eating, their dad had a little conversation telling them how some changes were to be made at the company, he was hoping the changes might be encouraging, he was afraid since it was Mrs. Kris who announced the work schedule was to be changed. He knew Mrs. Kris was not a nice woman and he feared her changes might be discouraging, Shay had never loved the family and was wondering why his dad was still working for them, but his dad told him life was not only about that. They prayed and they all went to their beds hoping the next morning be a sunny one as Shay did laundry, he washed his clothes, his dad's clothes, his mum's clothes, and including his kid brother's clothes. Jennifer and her mum were still trying to arrange the bed as there was a minor accident in that corner, William who was already sleeping heard the noise coming from their room, woke up and went to see what was going on, on his arrival, he saw as they were struggling with their bed and he helped arranged it, he asked them why they never called for him ever since to come fix it, they answered him saying, he was already sleeping and they never wanted to disturb him, it was done and they all went to bed. Kimberly's parents were not asleep and she struggled to go out, at the gate, the guard asked her to be fast about it, and she agreed. Kim's dad wasn't aware the guard permitted Kim to go out at late hours without his consent, if he had ever come to learn about it, there were gonna be serious consequences. Kimberly went out for clubbing and around 3 am, she was back, the guard gently opened the gate for her, when she climbed upstairs, her parents were still sleeping and immediately went to her room took her shower, and went back to bed, pretending to sleep ever since. It was past 7 am when her dad woke up to do sport around the house, her mum was still sleeping and she was just from covering her eyes since the effects of alcohol were still disturbing her, her mum was now up and getting ready for work, she had just 5 hours of work that day as she was invited for a luxury birthday party, she was down, her maid already made breakfast but she said she wasn't gonna be taking it because she needed to be early at Benedict was up, getting things ready, she knew Mrs. Kris was going to be early that day, so she needed to go clean her office before her arrival, Jennifer seeing as her mum got up so early, promised herself she was going to do everything to ameliorate her life and that of her mother, she promised to change their lifestyle, it wasn't easy seeing her mother wake up early to go work for people who were not even respecting them. Not long, her uncle William was also up and getting ready for work, he never wanted to be late, Benedict was now going out and said goodbye to her daughter and her junior brother. It was past 8 and it was at that time that Kimberly woke up, she quickly took her bath though she was feeling sleepy, she had no choice other than to go to school, because her dad was in the house that day, and she could not remain in the house, so she wore her clothes and waited for her driver to drop her at school, on arrival, everyone was already in class, including Malyse and Shay. As she entered the class, she directly went to her seat, she greeted Malyse and they had a little conversation before the teacher came in. After sports, Kim's dad went taking his shower and he was in his room reading a business magazine, it was so instructive that he forget about his stomach it was only after 12 of the day, he discovered he had not yet eaten and called on the maid to make something for him, she maid potatoes and groundnut sauce, served it in his room since he ordered to be served in his room. Back in school, the teacher entered the class and they all stood to welcome him, he asked them to sit down and when that was done, he introduced his subject and as he was interacting with the rest of the class he discovered Kimberly was tired, and he asked why she was so tired, and she said, that morning she did sports and it weakens her. Shay and Jennifer knew Kim was not the kind of girl who did sports, they knew she was telling lies, "she surely went out for clubbing" they murmured to themselves. Malyse equally knew Kim wasn't telling the truth, through her social media status she noticed she was out for clubbing. Benedict was at her job site and began cleaning the environment, immediately she finished cleaning Mrs. Kris office, her van entered the building, Benedict was happy she had already finished with her office before she could arrive, she went ahead cleaning the other offices she was the only one cleaning for that day since as her colleague was not in town. William arrived work earlier and was working, it was already break he was walking around looking for a cheap restaurant, he finally found one at the end of the junction he took a seat, gave his command and was waiting to be served, his boss daughter then entered the restaurant after a while she was surprised seeing him there and she asked if the other workers were the ones who brought him there and he said no, that he was walking and just found it, Sandryne took a sit just beside him, she gave her command to the lady in charge of the restaurant and was waiting to be served. They were discussing, Sandryne was explaining to him what he should start doing for his boss to increase his salary, he thanked her for all that she has been doing for him since two days ago and she asked him not to bother about it. The old workers were jealous seeing Sandryne and William together, they were afraid Sandryne was gonna descriminate between them and him, the new worker and that was something William was trying to avoid, he never wanted to be seen as a bad person he tried taking his distance from Sandryne but she was closer than ever. When they finished eating, they got to the factory, the boss was already around, he was back from his journey, from far he could see his daughter was already on good terms with Williams as he said to his assistant who was seated right beside one of the old workers, as they entered, William greeted the boss, and from his behavior, the boss did not regret employing him, he sounded smart and fast in everything he did, this was what he told his assistant, he was ready to go home, he told the workers he was just passing to check if his daughter was doing a great job, and from the looking of things, she was doing her job well, he smiled and wished them a good day then left, his assistant was still struggling to know more about their new worker, he worked across the building to see if everything was carefully placed.
