Chapter 4
WEDDING DAY
The online taxi was traveling at a moderate speed. Maudy sat in the back seat with tears in her eyes. Twice, the taxi driver glanced concernedly at Maudy. Finally, he turned on some music to disguise the woman's sobs.
The song that had just been played was about a happy life with a loved one, but the girl's feelings only got more hurt and her crying intensified. In fact, any kind of music or song he heard now would turn into a song of sadness once it reached the tentacles of his brain.
Actually, for a long time, he had dreamed of marriage. Looking back, yes, she had been a normal woman dreaming of marriage.
The dream is very simple. She wants to be a perfect woman by marrying a man she loves and loves by inviting friends and having a sweet son and daughter. Then, like in a fairy tale, they will live happily ever after.
That dream has run aground. Maudy has already signed the contract although with additional terms that have been agreed upon by both parties. He couldn't go back anymore because Marcel had already paid the remaining money for his sister's surgery and hospitalization. He couldn't even imagine Marcel's mom and dad having been so good to him this past week.
How could he possibly marry someone who clearly had a grudge against him? Maudy should have married someone who loved her. Ha ha ha! The problem is that people like that don't exist. Such a man had long since disappeared from Maudy's life. All she remembers is the treacherous man who cheated on her best friend in college.
"Those who cheat on the sea just go there!" Maudy cursed while stomping her feet.
Ah, Maudy shut her mouth. Maybe the driver will think she is a woman who is heartbroken because she was cheated on.
"Sorry. We've arrived, Ma'am!" gently reprimand the taxi driver.
"Oh, sorry. Here's the money. Thank you," Maudy said apologetically.
"Don't forget to give five stars, yes, Ma'am. Moreover, the atmosphere was very comfortable for nostalgia," said the taxi driver shamelessly.
"Hehehe." Maudy scratched her head non-itchy.
"Yeah, never mind! Just give it five stars. It's because he doesn't bother me and makes a good shameless driver," Maudy chimed in. He chuckled at his own words. He took a deep breath to make it feel more spacious.
"From now on I won't cry anymore. The mourning period for my freedom is over. I will live my life hard. I will be the best actress with over twenty billion," Maudy whispered to herself. After all, even if she had to get divorced in two years, she wouldn't be called a bad girl anymore. At that time, he will live happily and well with his sister.
A woman in a white and green uniform led Maudy to the top floor. There were luxurious dresses that she had never seen in real life. There was an advantage for Maud that she was free to try and choose these extravagant dresses as Marcel would pay for everything. By strengthening his determination, he will enjoy this pleasure well.
"It's so beautiful, Ma'am. Too bad the groom wasn't there to see," said the boutique manager.
"To be a surprise, Ma'am!" said Maudy with a throbbing heart in pain. However, she did not shed tears because she was now a strong woman.
***
As per Marcel and Maudy's request, the wedding is not open to the public and the media. From Maudy's side, no one was present. Maudy is more comfortable if the people around her don't know that. Isn't two years not long? Why is he showing a relationship that is about to end?
If Marcel's request is an intimate relationship in front of his relatives, then Maudy's request is the opposite. Maudy wants to be more comfortable in her own way. In front of Maudy's friends, they have to act like strangers.
"The bride entered the venue," said the host.
Maudy prepares to enter the wedding altar alone. He wanted to cry because he felt alone in this strange place. 'I'm an actress who paid twenty billion more for my sister's treatment.' Over and over he whispered those words to himself.
However, Marcel's father came up to him and reached out to him. "I've heard that your parents are gone. However, now I am the father of my son and the father of my son-in-law. I will take you. We are also your parents now. So, call me papa too," said Yutama sincerely.
Maudy smiled and thanked him. He had heard that the middle-aged man was Marcel's stepfather. According to him, the man was really a good person.
Maudy held out her hand. He took Yutama's hand, Marcel's father, with his hands covered in white gloves.
"Thanks, Papa," he whispered.
When almost arriving at the altar, Yutama let go of Maudy's hand. "Right now, papa must return to being Marcel's father. However, I wish you happiness my son-in-law and daughter," said Yutama as he stepped back slowly.
"Thank you, Papa!" said Maudy once more. She cried uncontrollably. In his imagination, the person who spoke earlier was the papa he missed.
Marcel looked at Maud then held out his hand. The hand was greeted by Maud, who was still managing his feelings. Very difficult! She was afraid that her makeup would fade in an instant.
"Careful. Don't let your make-up fade. Is it that bad to marry me?" asked Marcel.
"No," replied Maudy, looking at Marcel who seemed to be asking without mocking.
The wedding ceremony took place in a sacred manner. People sat quietly watching the events of the bride and groom's sacred vows.
"I, Maudy Angelia, will accept and love Marcel Beret as my husband, in joy and in sorrow, in health and in sickness, for the rest of my life." Maud's voice trembled as he spoke the wedding vows. There was a feeling of guilt hurting him from within.
"I, Marcel Beret, will accept and love Maudy Angelia as my wife, in joy and in sorrow, in health and in sickness, for the rest of my life." Marcel also completed the sacred marriage vows well.
Maudy decided to just live this marriage. In front of God, he did not dare to act. May I think in my heart that this marriage is legal? Moody thought. That's what happened. Whatever happened in the future, deep down in his heart, this marriage blessing was valid for two years. She was Marcel's wife and Marcel was her husband even though she didn't plan on giving him her feelings.
They exchanged rings and Marcel kissed Maudy's forehead tenderly.
Marcel stared at Maud's face silently. Today her face is so beautiful, but why cry? Is it that scary to marry me? thought Marcel.
"Don't cry. This is a happy moment. We should look happy. I don't want other people to suspect us," Marcel said, handing Maudy a handkerchief.
"Hahaha. You're wrong! This is how the bride's happiness looks on her wedding day. She cries to show her happiness," said Maudy as she gently rubbed the corners of her eyes.
"Oh. That means you've done the right thing," said Marcel, turning his gaze in another direction. Don't let the beautiful bride next to him melt his heart so he forgets his purpose.
'Wait! Beautiful bride? Is she really beautiful?' Marcel glanced at Maud secretly.
"Not really." Marcel denied his thoughts, but his heart was happy enough today that he took Maudy's hand in his arm and showed it to all his colleagues with a gleam on his face.
"I'm so hungry," Maudy said.
"Oh, okay. Go get some food over there," Marcel said.
"Should I show the bride around on her own while the groom is busy with his friends?" Maudy whispered with a big smile.
"Oh, forget my stupid answer. I'll accompany you anywhere," Marcel replied with a big smile too.
"Wow, the newlyweds are very intimate," said Marcel's friends.
"Thank you. Excuse me. I think my wife is hungry," Marcel said with a wink at them.
"Witch! Tweet!"
The temptation of some of Marcel's friends made Maudy's face turn red. This was all because of Marcel's ambiguous words. He spoke the word hungry with an unusual emphasis.
