Chapter 4 A connection

BOLA'S POV

It's a Wednesday morning, another activity-filled day is waiting for me. I woke up early today, so I had a chance to taste grandma's sumptuous meal.

I still can't stop thinking about David, the new guy at work. I can't believe I was attracted to him the moment I set my eyes on him. His cute face depicts the pleasantness of a beautiful atmosphere.

I love the way his pointed nose perfectly compliments his selcouth and scintillating lips.

And those brown eyes? - I'm always lost gaping at them.

I hate to say I feel anything for him because I'm just meeting him for the first time. I can't wait to see him again, after all, I'll be seeing him every day now since he will be working with us now.

**********

"What do you think about the new guy?" I asked Ella as we at stand behind the bar stand.

"Which new guy?" She said frowning.

"The guy that came here yesterday to apply for the job vacancy," I said.

"Oh, that ugly thing. I don't like him a bit" Ella spat.

"Ella you don't refer to people like that. He's human, right?" I said cautiously

"I don't care. It makes me sick, knowing that I'll be working with him here" Ella said.

"Ella, have you met this guy before?" I asked

"No! Why do you ask?" Ella questions

"Nothing, I'm just trying to figure out why you despise him this much," I said.

"Why are you trying to be a heroine here? Or better still, pretending to be one. I hope it is not what I'm thinking" She said suspiciously.

"I don't know what you're thinking, and I don't care to know. Just be careful the way you exhibit contempt around people" I said.

"Really? At least, I wasn't contemptuous like you who baptized Mr. Henry with a whole glass of tequila." She teased.

"Oh, Ella. That was a mistake." I said

"I see!" She growled.

I shot her a deadly glare and I continued with the bottles I was cleaning.

A few days later....

**********

"Hey, good morning"

I wonder who this person is, I turn around, and it was David.

"This irresistible handsome guy again" I muttered to myself.

"Hi, good morning, how are you doing?" I replied with a smile.

"I'm fine and you?"

"I'm fine too"

"I need to see the manager first." He said

"Oh, okay! I replied sternly.

He rushed to Mr. Collins's office and came back within a few minutes with some clothes in his hands. His work uniform I presume.

"Please where is the restroom, I need to change," he asked.

"The 2nd door by your left" I directed.

"He rushes to the direction.

He must be a diligent person, though he arrived behind schedule, I'm sure Mr. Collins would have warned him against any form of lateness.

"He's here, right?" Ella lashes as she leans on the bar stand, looking at me suspiciously.

"Who?" I asked.

"The new guy of course" she spat.

"Yes, here is here, he went to change in the restroom," I said

"Gosh! I can't believe I'd be working around that thing." Ella said bitterly.

"Ella that's not a nice thing to say" I cautioned.

"Whatever" she blurts out.

David came back from the restroom, already dressed up. The uniform looks so cute on him, damn!

"You look good" I admired swooningly.

"Thank you," he said.

"Mr. Collins said was one of you girls should put me through how you guys work here" he continues.

Ella shot him a deadly glare, hissed, and walks away.

"That won't be a problem," I said, and I showed him around the bar first. After showing him around the place, we walked back to the bar stand where all the drinks are arranged so I could show him how to serve them to customers.

"Here is the bar stand" I began.

"Okay," David said.

"Every drink here has a price tag on it, so you won't have to go through the stress of memorizing the prices. It is a good thing if you can though." I said.

"Wow, great!" he exclaimed.

"So when a customer comes in, what you're expected to do is approach them, hospitably welcome them, and take their order." I continued.

"Okay," he said.

"However, there is some kind of drinks that you don't serve individually. I mean, for instance, some customers may order Hennessey and they'll ask you to add flavors like strawberry, tangerine, or vanilla, while some may demand that you put some ice." I said.

"So how or where do I go about adding those flavors?" He asks

"Good question, that's the fridge behind you, you can get each of those flavors there, and even ice," I said.

"Wow, okay," David said.

"One more thing! After you've served a customer, you need to keep watchful eyes on them, so they won't leave without paying. This is Lagos, people can be callous and tricky sometimes. I said.

"You're right though," he said.

"Yeah. That's all you need to know for now" I concluded.

"Thank you so much. You're a very nice person" he compliments.

"You're welcome, you can stick around, and await the next customer," I said.

"Okay captain! He said jokingly and we both laughed.

**********

David's performance today was top-notch irrespective of the fact that he started today. He followed all the instructions I gave humbly.

I couldn't control myself against stealing glances at him, catching feelings, and blushing whenever he smiles at me.

We had no more time to talk cos work was a little bit hectic. He only bid me goodbye.

His presence sweeps me off my feet and my heart skips a beat whenever he is around me. I hate to think that I'm in love with David already, not when we're just barely meeting each other.

For the love experts - I guess this is what love, at first sight, feels like. Meeting someone for the first time, and then the next time, you meet that person - you're over the moon about them.

I don't want to make a mockery of myself yet, I'll just keep admiring David in secrecy until things happen naturally. I don't want to look desperate and cheap. Oops, desperate or cheap, I'm helplessly in love with him.
