Chapter 5 Kuatro

Kuatro

"I was planning to tell her once she finally gets comfortable with us, with me to be exact."

"Maybe that will happen if you stop being a jerk," her sister advised.

Knight looked at his sister badly. "I wasn't being a jerk," he denied.

Wanda laughed. "You should have heard her whispering last night about you. She was cursing you a lot," she informed him.

Knight grimaced. "So maybe I didn't sleep last night either.

Wanda laughed even harder. "Brother, I know you didn't sleep last night," she said teasingly.

Knight groaned internally. Of course she was bound to know about what he had done. He didn't even sleep because he watched over Vixen inside her room last night. He just sat on the chair beside her bed and admired his sleeping young beloved all night. He just left when he heard Wanda in the kitchen in the morning, and he went through the window so that she could not hear him.

"Fine, I was watching over her last night," he admitted.

Wanda looked at him with understanding. "I know how painful it must be for you to stay away from her, Brother. But we have no choice until we have told her everything.

Knight did not respond to that. He was still struggling with himself not to jump on Vixen whenever he sees her. His wolf is already being impatient. They want to mark their beloved. Marking their beloved is one of the werewolf's traditions to show the other males that a female werewolf is already someone's beloved. Therefore, no one would dare touch that female. But that doesn't mean that all werewolves follow that policy, that even with the mark that they still have reprehensible men and women. And just the thought of marking his beloved made his wolf even more furious at him for still not doing it.

They finally reached their pack and Knight was immediately greeted by his pack members. He is the Alpha, the most leader. They have a lot of respect for him because of his good management and being able to provide for the every need of the members, especially and he considers them family. However, his pack members are still afraid of him. Maybe that was because of the way he gives punishment. He does not overlook any mistakes because you can ruin everyone.

Wanda also left to start what she ordered here.

Liam, his second in command, approached him to report about his tasks. It seemed that he had already ordered the needed appliances for the pack house and told their members who still haven't arrived to prepare for moving in.

"How about Carlo?" Asked Knight while walking with Liam towards the pack house. With the speed, strength, and number of people-wolf members of Knight's pack, they only had to finish the construction of a building. Even another house built by their members around the rancho will also soon be finished.

Carlo was the one he ordered to search for Lucas Lim along with two of his other men. Lucas Lim was the new owner of the company that Vixen would have inherited, but had to sell.

Liam stopped walking and faced him. It looks serious and doesn't look good.

"Carlo called me earlier to report. He said, they have already found the Lucas Lim you are looking for," he said.

"What did he find about him?" He asked.

Liam looked at him hesitantly. He told Knight the things that they had unfold, causing Knight to become angry with whatever he had discovered. Knight did not exactly expect the old man to be much worse. After Liam told him everything, he had growled out loud, causing some of his pack members to flinch, looking afraid. Even Liam was slightly step backward and bowed.

"You know what to do." He commanded emphatically.

"Yes, Alpha." Liam nodded and bowed to him before leaving.

Think about it. He didn't expect to know about that Lucas Lim. He let out another angry growl. He was feeling very livid that someone like him would dare try to mark Vixen as his next victim.

The surrounding members watched him in amazement. They stopped what they were doing, fearing that he would lose control of himself.

It had happened before. He had lost control when they were attacked by a pack of rogues and killed lots of their pack members, three hundred years ago. Here also his father died and his uncle who was his father was what he heard in his mind.

"There are rogues in the West borders, Kuya. And they are attacking!" Wanda told him confusedly. He froze, his heart racing against his chest.

West borders. That's where the mansion is.

He hurriedly ran back to Vixen followed by some of his men who had left their work to help him face the rogues. He shouldn't have left her on her own, especially now that his enemies kept increasing in number and getting near them. Especially now that there is another added, and a very dangerous one at that. He will never be able to live if something bad would ever happen to Vixen, he thought as he jumped and shifted mid-air to his werewolf form.

Vixen pulled on her long hair, grimacing. She had been staring at her reviewers for an hour but she was still not able to concentrate. Every time she looked at the book it was Knight's face that evoked in front of her.

"Urgh!"

She groaned loudly and slumped on top of the open book. She don't think she can pass the exam.

She sighed. Now that she is alone in the room, she thinks about the events again. From her father's unexpected debt that she had to pay in just two days, to her accidental sale of the mansion, to the unknown way she would explain to Manang Rina the stupidity she had done, as well as her frightening experience. on her return to the mansion, on her confrontation with Knight last night, and now she has yet to focus on reviewing.

She yelled in frustration and hit the table with her fists in irritation.

Her bedroom door suddenly slammed against the wall when it was forcedly opened, causing the heavy oak door to bang loudly. She cried out in shock when Knight entered. He gazed wildly inside the bedroom as if looking for something, causing her to feel nervous. When Knight saw her he quickly approached her. He looked very troubled.

Vixen step backed at its sudden approach but Knight held her on both shoulders.

"Listen, Vixen," he said quickly. "I want you to do everything I say."

Astonished she stared at him. "Why, what's happening?

She then finally heard the noises coming outside the mansion, her eyes widening in fear.

What the hell is going on?

"I'll tell you later," he said and pulled her towards the walk-in closet and quickly but gently pushed her inside. "Promise me that you won't come out until I came back to tell you to do so."

She looked at him in confusion, but also feeling very worried. She nodded in agreement. The noise coming from outside is getting louder and louder.

What's causing those noises? They sounded like animals growling and snarling and fighting against each other.

Knight immediately left and locked the walk-in closet after she nodded there. She didn't know what was going on but she was scared. Her knees were shaking and her heart was beating very fast. She sat on the floor and listened. The noise outside was not very audible now that she was confined inside the closet.

She did not know how many hours had passed but she still remained waiting. What was she thinking. Who will make a mess here? This place is very far from people. They live quietly here so that they can run the rancho in abundance. New People's Army? But even if they were, she never heard a gunshot.

She unconsciously chewed on her fingernails. The only noise she could hear was like a stray animal. There were lots of growling and snarling. Sounds like a dog that is bigger and more ferocious. A bear? But that would be impossible. A wolf? Is there any chance that there are wolves in this country? And if anything, why was Knight so worried and even imprisoned here inside? They probably won't have a hard time catching that just in case.

A shuffling noise outside her closet made her jump in fear. There was someone in her bedroom. She then heard the lock of the door being opened and revealed a half-naked Knight who is only wearing a pair of black pants. Vixen stared at Knight's chaotic appearance. He is covered with dirt, sweat, and... is it blood on his torso?

Knight approached her immediately. It still looks dark and seems to be holding back anger. She looked at his worried and troubled eyes. Like she had expected, they had turned black again. But she had seen him several times and she was not surprised. However, she was still scared when she saw that.

She looked down and saw his bare chest. He was indeed also covered in blood. Anxiously, she got up from her seat and the man immediately helped her because her knees were still shaking. She approached him and checked his body, ignoring his rock-hard muscles. She was looking for an injury. There is lots of dried blood covering his body as if he had been injured very badly.

"Are you okay?" They both asked at the same time.

Vixen stopped short and looked up at his face. Knight seemed surprised at her question, clearly not expecting it.

"I'm okay, but what about you? Do you have a wound?" She asked worriedly and re-examined Knight's body. Aside from the dirt and blood, she found no injury, which made her relieved. There was not a single scar.

"I'm fine. There is nothing to worry about me." he answered, completely taken aback by her actions.

Vixeb realized what she's doing and that she was still holding his arm. She immediately pulled away, suddenly feeling awkward.

"What happened?" She asked again and came out of the closet.

Staying there with him alone caused her body to warm up, even with the situation right now. They can't stay together in one place for long. She went towards the window to see what or who had caused the trouble outside and to know why Knight is covered with dirt and too much blood. But the man held her by the arm before she could even get close to the window.

"Don't," he said.

Vixen frowned at him in confusion.

"It's too... chaotic for you to see. I don't think you're ready."

That caused her to feel even more worried. But she wanted to know what had happened. I don't think he had any intention of telling her either.

"I'm not a kid anymore. I can handle whatever it is," she said and tugged at her arm that he was still holding.

Knight did not release her. "Please."

That caught her off guard. The way he said that word made her chest hurt. Obviously it really didn't want him to see whatever was going on outside. His eyes, for the first time, were soft and pleading as they gazed down at her. He looked again at the dried blood on his body. She wanted to know what really happened, and why it seemed so brutal to be covered in blood.

Did he get involved in a huge fight? And if that was the case, did he... kill someone?

Vixen looked behind Knight when she heard someone rushing towards her room. Her eyes widened when she saw Wanda whose appearance also looked the same as Knight. Another two men followed after her. They were all breathing fast and looking very worried. Like Knight they were also sweaty and were also not wearing any top, except for Wanda who was only wearing a big white T-shirt. Her long hair is messy.

Vixen wondered even more what was going on.

"You alright? Aren't you hurt?" Wanda asked anxiously as she immediately approached her.

Vixen pulled away from them and took a couple of steps back. She is so confused. She didn't even know what was going on so she also didn't know why she wouldn't be okay. And who will hurt her?

"Will you please tell me what on earth is going on?" she demanded.

After he asked you the two men hurried away following Wanda after looking at Knight. Vixen was surprised when Wanda suddenly approached her brother with a trace of anger on her face. Only now did Vixen see that it was furious.

"Do you think she wouldn't learn the truth even if your men managed to get rid of the evidence?" she asked him furiously.

Knight growled at Wanda, causing Vixen to gasp in surprise and fear. Did he really just growl? Like a dog? She recoiled in shock.

Knight advanced on his sister, but the latter bravely stood her ground and glared back at him. Vixen is afraid that might be what Knight will do to Wanda. His eyes, as usual, turned black again, black as the inky night. His eyes, his strange actions, and him growling, those are not normal for an ordinary person.

"Don't you dare..." he said lowly through gritted teeth, accompanied by low continuous growls.

"I will tell her if you wouldn't, Brother. She needs to know. It's her right!" she yelled at him.

Vixen is already feeling mixed emotions so she decided to just find out what happened in her own way. She immediately moved towards the open window again, running on the process. She was almost there when Knight suddenly appeared in front of her, blocking her view. She angrily looked up at him but her gaze wavered the moment she saw the look on his face.

He's angry appearance was so dark, his eyes were so black that it conveyed intense horror to his body. He was still growling. And he felt as if his body had grown bigger, taller. She flinched away from being too near. He looked as if he's very much struggling against himself not to let some sort of beast from inside him to get in control. Vixen doesn't know where the idea came from. But in his actions she begins to suspect. If he is really just an ordinary human or not.

"V-Vixen..." She heard Wanda called her in a low voice. Her voice was shaking. "Come to me, please," she added softly.

Vixen did not move. She's afraid that maybe when she moves something bad will happen. Knight continued to let out a weak growl like a wild beast. He was also still glaring at her intently, as if he was preparing to lunge at her.

"Vixen," Wanda called again who was now beside her. She gently grabbed both of her arms. "Let's go." She said and slowly pulled her away from Knight who was still following her gaze.

Trembling, Vixen stepped back her feet. She knew, especially now that Wanda was acting like this, that she was also afraid of her sister. She wasn't even sure if he is just a human anymore.

"Let's go to my room." Wanda said to her.

Knight kept on watching them, still standing rigidly, and his fists tightly clenched on his sides. When they were almost at the door, he let out a loud snarl, causing Vixen to stiffen, almost letting out a scream. But what she didn't expect was when Knight jumped out of the window. She screamed, knowing that her room is on the fourth floor of the mansion. She stared at the open window with wide eyes, the curtains being blown harshly by the wind.

Did he really just jump out of her window? Did he just commit suicide?

"He's fine, Vixen," said Wanda, trying to calm her down.

"He just jumped from my window! How did that turn out to be okay?" She exclaimed, struggling from Wanda's surprisingly strong hold.

She turned her attention to it. Wanda didn't hold her very tightly but surprisingly she couldn't get away. And now that he was staring at it closely, she noticed that even its eyes were black.

"He's fine, Vixen." she said simply but did not explain further. Gian gently pushed her out of the room.

He's fine?

That much height was enough to kill a person and break several bones. She didn't know what else to think and let Wanda guide her out of her room and went to his room. It was one of the guest rooms, and now it is here. She suddenly wondered where Knight's room was. A shiver ran down her spine as she remembered his features earlier.

She looked around the room they entered. It was one of four guest rooms inside the mansion. She noticed that the decoration inside had changed. Formerly pure white furnishings have been replaced by other more colorful furnishings. From curtains that were previously yellow became purple, cream-colored carpets, pink bed sheets, and more. There are also photos hanging on the wall.

A family portrait was displayed on top of Wanda's drawers across the bed, showing six beautiful people. Vixen looked at it and observed the picture. She immediately recognized Knight from the photo; he looked the same as today. Maybe this portrait was taken recently. He also recognized Wanda immediately, but not the other four with them. Perhaps the man and woman standing behind them are parents.

"That's Ariana our little sister and Lyndon my other brother. And those are our parents." She heard Wanda say to her when she noticed what she was looking at.

Vixen nodded and sat down on the black sofa on the right near the bed. She watched Wanda take a dress from her closet. They have two more siblings. But why don't they include them?

She glanced at Wanda's exposed legs that are also covered with dirt. She could not understand why they were soiled like that, and where their clothes had gone. Why is it only a men's T-shirt?

She was sure she wasn't wearing anything else under that shirt either. She remembered Knight and the two men who followed Wanda, wearing no top and only pants that seemed to be suddenly worn. She also noticed that they were barefoot, even Wanda.

"Stay here. I'll just take a shower." Wanda told her.

Vixen nodded in response and waited patiently, too tired to do anything. Her muscles are still tense. To this day, she is still startled when she hears even a faint crack. But she still couldn't stop herself from peeking out the window to find out what was going on outside.

She was taken aback when she saw a lot of strong-looking people lining up outside the mansion, both men and women, all with strong build and well-muscled. There must be more than seventy to eighty persons outside. It looked like they are waiting for someone. And like Knight and Wanda they were only wearing pants and a shirt. They are also covered in dirt as if they had rolled on the ground, and blood. All of them looked like they had come out of a huge fight, and some of them are even injured with nasty cuts and bruises.

But who and what are these people doing here? Was this some kind of initiation? A fraternity? A cult?

Vixen suddenly backed away when she saw Knight approaching. He was walking out of the woods near the ranch. Why was he coming out of there?

Vixen heard the shower stopped in the bathroom. It looks like Wanda has finished taking a bath. She checked the time on the alarm clock on top of Wanda's bedside table. The woman was done showering in fifteen minutes. She came out of the bathroom wearing a gray shirt and sweatpants. She had also tied her long brown hair into a messy bun.

Vixen did not leave her seat at the window. She didn't care if Knight had warned Wanda not to let her see what was going on outside.

"I don't think this is a good idea, Vixen." Wanda told her who stopped when she saw her peeking out the window.

"I've already seen them," she said, referring to the people below. "Why do you even want to keep this from me?"

"I also don't agree with what Brother wants. But this is what he thinks is right. And just like he said, you're not ready yet."

"I've noticed a lot of strange things since I met the two of you. I just decided not to comment especially and I even looked insane the first time I asked you about that," she litany. "I'm not dumb, Wanda." She added.

Wanda stared worriedly at her. "I don't know if I'm the one who should tell you." she finally admitted.

Vixen turned to face her. She felt guilty for forcing Wanda like this.

"Then, just tell me what happened outside," she asked.

Wanda considered her for a few more minutes, as if calculating how she would react.

"There was an attack."

"I know that," said Vixen, frowning.

"Did you know there was an attack?" Wanda asked in shock.

"What else could have happened? All I want to know is who and why."

Wanda suddenly became serious. "Even if I tell you, you won't believe."

"Why am I being attacked, then?"

"No one came to attack you, Vixen. It's us that they came for." she explained to her.

Vixen was especially confused by what Wanda said. Wanda's answer was completely blank, incomplete, fragmented, incomplete information. How could she understand what was really going on?

"Why would someone attack you? And who are those people outside anyway?" Vixen asked confused.

"We have enemies, and those are our people outside."

Vixen scowled. She didn't receive the answer she wanted. But she never shaved again. She already knew there was something strange about the siblings and those people outside. Whatever their group was about, she would know that too. Most likely that's why they bought the rancho, and why they like to live in a quiet place and away from people.

She glanced out of the window again and met a pair of green eyes. Even though it was getting dark outside, she could still easily recognize Knight and see her looking back at him as well. Its serious face was still dark. He obviously didn't like that she was curious about something she had nothing to do with. At the thought she realized something. She should not have entered it. She would have chosen carefully what the ranch was selling. But this was the only client she found who agreed to pay immediately. She could tell that Vixen is getting worried at her silence. It was as if it could read his mind.

Vixen walked away from the window, breaking her eye contact with Knight. She had only been with them for about two days. She didn't even know them very well, but here's what was happening right away. She went towards the door and thankfully, Wanda didn't move to try and stop her. Vixeb has finally decided not to stay in the mansion anymore. Although he did not know the exact circumstances, she knew it was dangerous if she stayed here any longer, that she was not safe. Even if she is not the target of what Wanda says is their enemy, she can still be affected.

"Where are you going, Vixen? You can't go out yet," Wanda recalled.

"I'm just going to my parents' bedroom." She answered.

She ignored Wanda's protest and hurried out of her room. She's planning to pack her things. But before that she wanted to visit her parents' old room first. Deep sadness reigned in her chest.
