Chapter 4 Tres

Tres

Vixen stared up at him in frustration. "What did you tell them to do?" she asked and fished for her phone from her back pocket.

"Don't worry about it, Vixen," said Wanda, trying to calm her down. "He just has-" she thought for a moment, "an anger issue. But you don't have to worry about it. Brother can control his anger," the woman added, trying to convince her.

Vixen looked at the woman in disbelief. "Able to control? But he just broke my phone into tiny little pieces!" she exclaimed.

Wanda's face reddened, must be in anger or embarrassment. "I'm really sorry about that. I'll just replace it with a new one. I can assure you that my brother wouldn't harm you." Vixen still doubts about that.

"Then what about his eyes?" Vixen demanded.

"His eyes?" Wanda confused asked. Something crossed in her green eyes but it was gone before Vixen was able to see it.

"Yes. The color of his eyes changed." Vixen knew she sounded ridiculous but decided to say it anyway. She knew what she saw was real because she was still staring at it intently. That's why she was afraid of Knight, not just because of the anger it showed him.

"Vixen... are you sure you're okay?" Wanda asked as if measuring her reaction by the way he stared at her.

Vixen looked back at her. Maybe she was really just mistaken? But that was impossible! She's sure what she saw! She decided to drop the issue.

"I'm fine. It must've only been the trick of the light," she said and began to explain. "Things were just becoming heated when your brother suddenly reacted like that." She glanced at Wanda to see her reaction.

But Wanda's face was void of emotion. Even though it had no expression on her beautiful face Vixen knew it had something to hide from her.

While the two were discussing what had happened, Knight continued to walk away from the mansion. He was a good miles away from the mansion before he stopped running. He had to immediately rush out of the house, and if his sister hadn't arrived on time, things would have gotten worse. He had shifted into his black werewolf form the moment he entered the woods and started to run for miles in order for his anger to die down.

He didn't plan to scare Vixen. He didn't mean that. But just the thought of another man thinking and planning some nasty ideas about his beloved made his blood boil in so much anger to the point of committing violence. So he immediately called his sister using their ability only possessed by werewolves like them.

They have the ability to mind-link with everyone in his pack. This is the ability to communicate through the mind. This is how they communicate with Wanda so it comes at the right time, just like carrying titles, and how he lets the brother know what Vixen's connection to him is. Be how he gets his staff when he needs them.

At first Wanda wasn't sure if she would believe him. His sister was upset that he was planning to hold a very young woman against her will. So he immediately told her the truth. Vixen is his. She is his fated mate, his destined partner, his beloved. Even he couldn't believe it at first. He still remembers the first time their gaze met. He immediately felt their bond, the beloved bond. His wolf had howled in so much joy from the back of his mind.

Vixen is simple. She's beautiful in her own simple way. She doesn't wear any make up and classy dresses, which he very much approved of. Knight knew it is very much cliché to say, but of all the beautiful women he had seen, especially half -wolves like him who were normal in their race to be beautiful and handsome, Vixen was special to him. So he could not accept that another man had tried to take possession of hers. He had ordered his men to look for Lucas Lim and know all his dark secrets. He only meant to punish him, but not to destroy him completely. They have a rule not to physically harm a defenseless human being.

Before he met Vixen, his sister had told him that a certain young lady was selling a huge property that is perfect for them to settle down. They were surprised at how huge the actual place is. It is indeed perfect for his growing pack. So he immediately told to his sister to buy it. They had no problem when it came to money and immediately paid for the property as requested by their seller. Wansa also did some research about the girl and the property first, just to make sure it was safe to buy. That is the reason how they knew why Vixen had suddenly sold all her inherited properties to various buyers. It desperately needs money.

Maybe it's not good to hear that he's taking advantage of its situation right now. He knew Vixen could not afford to return the value of the mansion to them. But he was only doing this to make sure that she won't get away. Beloveds will only come to a werewolf once. He just want to make sure that she is safe all the time. Especially knowing that Vixen will become a huge target, once the enemy packs or the rogues learn who she is to him.

Knight ran a few more distance in the forest until he's completely calmed down. He knew that she saw the changes in him. He only wished that Wanda would be able to calm her so she wouldn't leave. Not that she could, but he didn't want to force her to do anything against her will.

"You should come back now if you have finally calmed down, Brother," said Wanda through their mind-link.

"How is she?" he asked.

"Still a little shaken up, but she's okay now. There is a nearby cabin inside the ranch. You can stay there for the night," she answered.

"What?" he growled, feeling mad. He didn't want to be away from his beloved.

"It's the best thing to do right now. I'm still not sure if Vixen really forgot what she saw. You should have a lot of control. You nearly exposed yourself in front of her," she scolded him.

Knight let out an angry growl again. His huge paw hitting the slightly damp earth with force.

"I have told you not to do anything rash," she reminded him, not affected by his anger.

Wanda cannot be affected by his alpha force, unless Knight would really want to. Both of them have the alpha blood flowing in their veins. But because he is the man and older, his blood is much more powerful than his sister's.

"Please, brother. Go stay in the cabin for tonight. Ariana is already expecting you and has already informed mother that you're coming." Ariana is their youngest sister, who is three hundred and five years old.

"Fine," he grumbled and ran towards the direction of the said cabin. His pack built these small houses. They were going to stay in these cabins for the meantime until the construction of the pack houses is done.

The next day, Vixen woke up in her room. She glanced at the open window of her room where the sunlight was creeping in. She got up from lying down and looked around.

Nothing had changed in her room.

Was that a dream, then? she asked herself.

Maybe Manang Rina pulled back the curtain on her window. She sighed and got up from the bed and stretched.

What a very strange dream.

That was a strange dream. She didn't think her imagination was so active. She went towards the window and gazed outside, breathing in the fresh cool breeze of the morning air, relaxing her and completely blowing away the sleep from her body. She could hear the twittering of the birds from the nearby trees. The sound was so pleasing that it made her smile for the first time in a long while.

Vixen glanced at her room on pure reflex. Her gaze caressed her bedroom. The walls were painted white as well as the ceiling. There was a white furry carpet on top of her tiled floor, where she found her backpack tossed beside her bedside cabinet. Her gaze then moved to the direction of her computer, then to the table beside it.

She saw the pile of open books and notes on top of her study table. She suddenly remembered that she still had to review for the upcoming exam. There was nothing strange in her room, except for something that caused her to straighten up.

She could not see her cell phone that she always put on her study table.

Her heartbeat increases. She hurried to the backpack and opened it. She fumbled inside and even turned it upside down, scattering her stuff on top of her coffee-brown sheets. Still nothing.

She bit her lip. It couldn't be. The dream couldn't be real. She glanced at the close door of her bedroom, suddenly afraid to open it and learn the truth.

There is no way...

She jumped in surprise when a loud knock sounded from her door. She did not answer, fearing that what she thought was just a dream was true. Another knock sounded but she still refuses to open the door. If it was Manang Rina, it won't knock anymore. Except if it was Armando or Vina. But the two would call for her while knocking, so it is clear that there is someone else outside her door.

"Vixen," called a familiar deep baritone voice from the outside.

Vixen almost screamed but she restrained herself. Everything she thought was just a dream was true. And Knight Anderson is outside her bedroom door.

"I know you're awake," he said. "Come down in the dining room so we could talk," he added.

She remained silent but it never spoke again. Did he left already? She could not hear his footsteps. With a man that tall who also has a huge build, wasn't he supposed to have heavy footsteps? What in the world had she gotten herself into?

She remain sitting on top of her bed to calm her raging nerves. She needed to relax. If Vixen remembered correctly, Wanda also stayed with her in the mansion and wouldn't leave her alone. So there will probably be no problem if she comes out and confronts Knight. They really need to talk. She still wants the house, even though what happened last night was pretty unusual. This problem will also end.

She took a deep breath and released it, then walked towards the door to get out. She opened the door only to become rigid at her door frame, staring face to face with Knight himself, wearing a white shirt, and almost bumping into him. That's why she didn't hear any footsteps and he didn't leave.

She looked up at him, inclining her head to meet his green pair of orbs. How she loved those shades now. She bit her lip. Her thoughts were being inappropriate. She was supposed to act indifferently.

Vixen decided to just glare at him, pretending that she's still angry. Surprisingly though she could not find herself remaining angry with the man. Whereas only yesterday she seemed to want to slap it for what it said.

His words tauntingly played in her mind. "It's you that I want."

Her cheeks reddened. Why does she think that? She was supposed to hate this man, not to become attracted to him!

"What are you still doing here? I thought we were going to talk in the dining room?" She asked annoyed. She was annoyed with herself because of the attraction she felt for it.

"That was already five minutes ago. I just returned to call you again," he explained, his face blank.

"I was about to go down. You didn't need to do that," she said and walked around him, careful not to touch any part of him because the last time their skin touched, it sent unwanted goosebumps all over her body.

She continued walking towards the dining room as it quietly followed him. Wanda met them downstairs, wearing jeans and a tight fitting black shirt, showing her perfect curves. The woman smiled once she saw Vixen.

"I thought you have locked yourself inside," she said in a teasing tone.

Vixen remain silent, feeling awkward. That's exactly what she intended to do if only this man hadn't come to her. She just thought of something to say about how to keep the mansion for her.

They all went to the dining room. Vixen saw the dining table full of different foods, from fried eggs to hotdogs and bacons, toasted bread and fried rice, fruits on a large bowl, and even some pickled vegetables, enough to feed five people. There was a lot of food while there were only three of them. She looked at the two. She actually did not expect them to eat breakfast with her. She hopes that they will leave after they talk about the mansion or that she will be evicted.

Vixen seemed to have heard her thoughts.

"Let's eat first, Vixen. We will talk about the house later," she said kindly, her tone laced with understanding.

"Okay, then," agreed Vixen, feeling embarrassed. It wouldn't hurt to wait a little.

As they began to dig in, Knight and Wanda talked, while Vixen's thoughts went to what had transpired last night. Even though Wanda had convinced her that what she saw was not true, she knew in herself that it was still a secret from her. She just agreed that he might just look back like she said, but she was willing to find out what really happened.

She also called Manang Rina using the landline at the mansion. She just pretended to have her cell phone low and made sure that she was in good condition.

She looked up from her plate of food and watched the siblings. Then she turned her gaze to the trays that had been full of food that were now almost empty. Her gaze moved to their half-empty plates. Did they just eat those foods in just a short time? She looked at the siblings who were still in conversation, not noticing the observation she had made or just deliberately ignored.

"Tell Liam to buy the appliances for the pack house. It is being painted now and will be finished in a few days. Then send the word to the rest of our members to prepare for moving in," he told his sister quietly, looking oblivious that Vixen is now listening to their strange conversation.

Pack house? Members?

"Okay," said Wanda. "Maybe you should also check your third in comma-" She stopped when she finally noticed that Vixen is listening, causing Vixen to frown.

Why the sudden reluctance? Was Wanda supposed to say third in command?

Wanda recovered in no time and smiled at her as if she didn't just stop mid-sentence. "Are you done eating?" Wanda asked.

Vixen stopped herself from raising an eyebrow. "Yes," she answered and glanced once again on the now empty trays.

Wanda followed Vixen's gaze and saw the confused look in her eyes. "We have a very... healthy appetite," she tried to explain awkwardly.

Vixen wondered how a woman like her with a very good figure enough to make every woman envious could eat so much and also in very little time.

"I didn't say anything," said Vixen, shrugging. She decided to observe the strange behavior of the siblings first and not comment.

They went to the living room after all the food had gone. Wanda had brought the documents again but Vixen refused to even look at them. To this day she still annoys herself because of the stupidity she did.

"As my brother had told you last night, we will let you have this house again," Wanda started.

Vixen stared. "You did not expect me to agree with his condition, right?" she said coldly.

Wanda blushed, completely embarrassed. Looks like even it didn't like what the brother said either.

"Of course, Vixen, but I'm sure my brother didn't mean it that way," Wanda explained.

"Didn't mean it that way? What else did he mean when he said It's you that I want, then?"

Wanda glared at the brother who remained just staring at Vixeb. Vixen, on the other hand, is starting to get uncomfortable with the way she looks at him. Her cold green eyes that lacked any emotion felt like they were penetrating every pore of her skin, reading every move she does, every action and expression she makes. Now ehe also suspects that it might read in her mind how she really feels.

"As I was saying..." Wanda interrupted the two of them, a meaningful smile playing on her lips. Vixen's face flushed. "We will let you have the mansion."

"But in what condition?" asked Vixen, suspiciously.

"Just like you said. You said you are going to return the money we paid you," Wanda replied.

"Oh," Vixen mumbled.

Now the problem ehe has is where to get the money. She looked at Knighy. Based on its expression it seems to be suppressing a smile. Vixen even saw Wanda glaring at her brother in disapproval, as if he just said something that didn't please her. But the man said nothing, just kept looking at her.

Wanda sighed after a moment's pause and looked back at Vixen again. "We still have one condition, Vixen."

Vixen was brought back to reality. She was just thinking what else she should sell and where to borrow the money for the mansion.

"What it is?"

"You can pay us in installments, I know this mansion is worth too much and that you are still supporting yourself in college," Wanda explained very slowly, measuring her reaction.

"But?" Vixen asked. She knew Wanda had more to say.

"Not finished building your house on the rancho. That means we will have to live here with you until you finish the full payment," answered Wanda.

Vixen considered what the woman said. That's fair enough, isn't it? she thought to herself.

"I will just make a contract that will prove that you can live here in the mansion while you pay your payment, but you will only receive the rights to own it again once you have completed the payment." Wanda added.

Vixen stared at Wanda and studied her face. "So basically, I can only live here but I cannot say that I own the house, not until I have paid the amount fully?" She explained.

Wanda nodded.

"Let me add something," Kniguy interrupted for the first time.

Both of them looked at him, Vixen apphrensive, but Wanda only rolled her eyes.

"You can't let other people live here besides you." The man added.

"All right." Vixen agreed refusing to look at him longer than necessary.

She owed them anyway. She has no right to complain because they are already giving it to her. She just can't get her rights to the mansion right away.

"That's settled, then," said Wanda who rose from the couch and started to pick up the documents.

"Where are you going?" Vixen asked the woman.

Wanda looked at her and smiled. "I have to leave. I still have a lot to take care of," Wanda replied.

Vixen suddenly became nervous, still refusing to look at Knight who was still watching her. It mean, will this woman leave them both here?

"Uhm..." she mumbled, trying desperately to think of something to say. "Are you going home immidiately?" she finally asked.

Wanda shrugged. "I'm not sure. Brother asks me to do as much.

Vixen couldn't help but look at Knight who was already standing and looking at her. She felt the strange sensation again when their eyes met. She doesn't know why she feels this way about this person.

"Your older brother ordered you?" Vixen asked.

What did this man order and it seems like so many? Then why does she have to instruct the brother when maybe he can do those things. Wanda only smiled, a mysterious meaning can be seen in her eyes. She went towards the door, and Vixen was surprised when she saw Knight following his sister.

Will it go away as well? disappointed she asked herself. But shouldn't she be happy? But why does someone seem to pinch her as if she doesn't want it to leave?

Knight saw her reaction.

He smirked, amused. "I thought you wanted to be alone. Maybe you prefer me to stay?" he asked teasingly.

Vixen's feelings vanished in an instant and scowled at him, feeling irritated. "You wish," she said and quickly climbed up the stairs to her room.

She heard him let out a low chuckle before Wanda scolded him quietly. Annoyed Vixen slammed the door shut and lay down on the bed. She needed distraction so she couldn't remember the man's handsome face.

She looked at the books lying on her study table. Exams are coming up. She had to review. Now that her problem is not too bad she can focus. She went to sit down at the study table and picked up the first book from the pile. She will only inform Manang Rina later.

"You're enjoying yourself too much, brother," commented Wanda in disapproval.

They had already left the mansion and their sensitive ears could hear the banging of Vixen's door to his room. Now they are walking towards the open gate. The sun was shining brightly, but they ignored the heat because they were used to it. When they got out of the gate they passed their cars.

Wanda looked to see if Vixen could see them from its window. When she made sure that the window and the curtain in her room were closed, they began to run fast - the speed of the wind.

They are very used to running in the woods for it is in their nature. After all, they no longer have to drive a car. They're just doing it now as props so Vixen won't be surprised, and other people will see them. Another is that Knight really doesn't want to leave and leave Vixen. But it still has too much to fix. More and more of their members. There are also threats from other groups of wolves similar to theirs. And just the other day they saw some wolves watching the town near the rancho. He did not leave Vixen alone. He ordered at least five guards to look after her and make sure that he will be informed if something bad will happen.

"I'm just glad," he answered.

"Glad that she'll stay?" Wanda asked, not satisfied with his answer. Wanda knew there was another reason.

"Yes. But I'm also glad that she feels the same way towards me."

Wanda nodded. She could also see the effect of her brother to the young woman. They knew that she is also attracted to him. But that is how the beloved bond works, once the two people meant for each other finally crossed paths. They will immediately feel the attraction to each other. Because they are destined to be together for eternity.

"But how will you tell her about everything?" she asked, wondering.

Knight also wondered the same thing. He also doesn't know how to let Vixen know what they are and what it is for him. It may be scared and decide to leave and stay away from him. He knew how the bond works between beloveds, but he is not sure about the werewolf-human case. He didn't know if it is just as powerful as the two werewolves' bond.

"You do realize that we have to tell her sooner, right? She is bound to notice a lot of things. She has already seen the color of your eyes change." His sister reminded him.
