Chapter 5 5

Raquel

After David left, I swear to God my heart felt like it was going to break. I jumped when I heard my cell ring and ran to answer it, and when I saw his name on the call display, my heart skipped a beat. I take his call and we talk and when we end the call I miss him and I know he does too.

- What the hell, Raquel, the man went to work - I call my attention. I head towards the kitchen and make myself some tea to see if I can calm myself down. While I put the water on to boil, I decided to go into the room to see how Duda was doing, who, as usual, was sleeping like a rock.

This girl was a mixture of Nella and Diogo, poor girl who had a very possessive father and an uncle who was also almost on the same possessive level as his friend.

Ah, one day I want to have a baby from me and Davi. Was it too early to be dreaming about it? I wanted to be a mother, to feel what Nella said she felt during Duda's pregnancy. I am a woman who does have that desire and who knows, maybe one day, if God blesses me, I want to have a little girl like Duda, although the way Davi behaves, he was quite capable of wanting a son.

I check one more time to see how Duda was doing and go downstairs to check if the water was already boiling. I take the mate tea and I know I said it should be a calming tea, but I can't drink that kind of tea. And when I'm done making it, I sweeten it and start drinking it to see if it helps me calm down, even though it's hard, since it contains caffeine. I hear a ring on my cell phone and pick it up, seeing that it was Nella saying she was coming to pick up Dudley. I barely have time to answer when I hear the doorbell ring.

- I'm going! I yell, heading for the door. I look through the peephole to see if it was really Nella, and when I see her, I pick up.

- Hi, friend, sorry, did we take so long? - Nella asks awkwardly and right behind her comes Diogo, who can't take his hands off his wife, I'm a little jealous of the way he looks at her. I remember that until recently I was feeling Davi's hands on my body. And I missed him immensely.

- Hi, Raquel, I'm really sorry, we're going to do everything we can to not keep bothering you - Diogo says, greeting me with a kiss on the cheek, and he was the only man, apart from Davi, that I let touch me.

- For us! You know I'm more than happy to take care of Duda! I reply, forcing myself to forget for now that David was here. And I open the door wider for them to come in. I watch Nella go upstairs to her room and we follow her. When we got there, Nella stood there and looked at Diogo.

"She's sleeping so well!" She speaks with pity, and I understand her.

"Yes, she really is!" - he says heading towards my bed and picks up Duda, who wakes up and looks at Diogo, recognizing him with a beautiful smile.

Doubt goes back to sleep. And, God, my heart practically explodes at the sight of the cuteness there. And it made me wish I had a Duda or a Davizinho.

- Ah, Diogo, will she wake up again? Nella asks with a little trepidation.

- I think not! But we better go soon, as soon as we get home, we'll put her in the crib - he says, and he looks at me and says: - Thank you, Raquel, for keeping our daughter.

- Oh, stop, Diogo! And you remember, you know you can count on me, always! - I declare sincerely for both.

- We know that Duda is the luckiest in the world to have a wonderful godmother like you! – Antonella declares and, by God, I almost cry, this is becoming routine.

"Let's stop this molasses, Nella! - I mumble awkwardly, and Diogo laughs softly, knowing what the relationship was like.

"Darling, let's go, love!" he asks, and I look at him gratefully. I knew very well that by the time they left I would either end up crying like melted butter or I could lie in my bed reading a beautiful novel and thinking about my own Prince Charming.

- Yes, go away, I have to read a hot book here! I ask, shooing them away. Diogo starts to laugh and Nella looks at me and says:

"Are you so weird? she asks, curious.

- Me, stranger? Of course not! - I do fast.

"I know..." she says suspiciously.

"Oh, for God's sake, woman, go to sleep, sleep is your illness!" - I deflect.

"I... I will, but tomorrow we're going to have a talk!" She says it like she doesn't believe me, and she was right, she just didn't want to tell me what had happened yet.

"You don't have any books to write, do you?" - I provoke.

"Actually, I do!" But today I went to the police station to talk to Davi... - she starts and I stand there waiting for her to continue. 'I told him I was writing a story about a priest and he was shocked! - she says laughing a lot! And laughs even more when the shocked look at her. While Nella shouldn't be surprised, this woman is a badass writer.

"I can imagine your brother's face when he heard that!" - I comment, laughing after the scare I got and I end up smiling too much, and Antonella looks at me and pulls me out room and says:

-Spit it out? she asks, I mean ask no, she practically orders, and I drop her down the hall, heading back to the bedroom. I look at Diogo and say:

- Your fault! - I warn, angry with him.

'Why is it my fault?' he asks, confused, not understanding anything.

"Do you keep training her to ask questions?" I ask him ironically.

"I have nothing to do with this! He defends himself. And I look at Nella, who looks back at me and says:

- Come on, spill it! she asks, crossing her arms and waiting for me to tell.

"Nella, I have nothing to talk to you about!" - I deflect and, God, if she wasn't my best friend, I would send her to that place.

-Yes he has! And you got your eyes shining and, also, smiling! she grumbles.

- Oh, Nella! You are imagining things! - I declare, debating.

- Not even! - Antonella speaks with great conviction and continues: - You are very different from the time we arrived here to leave our daughter.

"You're seeing things that aren't there!" - I talk again.

- I know you, Dona Raquel, and I know you're lying! She declares and looks at me. "And I'll find out what it is!"

"My God, Antonella, stop reading books on interrogation," I say ironically.

- I'll be waiting, you'll tell me anyway! she says, and I look at her with a sigh of relief.

"Honey, we have to go!" - Diogo calls her, who rolls his eyes at me, and I look at Diogo and thank him, moving his lips, he smiles.

"Now go home, take care of your husband and see you tomorrow!" I grumble, wanting her to go away so I can think about what happened today.

"I'm going, but we'll be back tomorrow!" she says, and I know she's really going to come back, this woman was a tough nut to crack. When Nella gets one thing on her mind, only God helps us.

We leave the room and I lead them to the door. When Antonella hugs me, she whispers in my ear:

"I can't wait to find out what you're hiding from me," she warns, I smile and kiss them.

I say goodbye to them and close the door. I go back to the kitchen and grab a soda, since the juice I've made is gone. I pick up my cell phone, which I've left on the table, and start checking it while I drink the rest of my soda.

And I almost choke when I notice that I had a message from Davi and I end up smiling like a teenager in love, yes, I just fell in love with him all over again while I read his message that said:

I miss you so much, my beautiful sorceress!
