Chapter 4 Prove Mr Jackass wrong

Alexis POV

I placed all the files on the table sighing heavily.

He had asked me to check my mail for instructions.

I sat on the chair and switched on the laptop,i carefully arranged the files while waiting for the laptop to finish booting.

"Hi" i heard a voice behind me

I turned around

"Hi" i managed to smile

"I'm Rose, nice to meet you" the lady said smiling, showing her perfect set of teeth.

"Alexis" i smiled stretching my hands for an handshake, Rose took it smiling.

"If you need anything, you can ask me , okay?" Rose smiled

"Yes , thank you" I said with a thin smile before turning back to my table.

I clicked on the gmail

I just have to find that mail and prove Mr Jackass wrong

"Hey , it's lunch time" Rose announced turning to me.

I was so caught up in getting the work done, i didn't hear the ,whatever,for lunch

"Uhm" i asked turning to face Rose

"It's lunch break, don't you wanna have lunch" Rose asked getting on her feet.

"Oh, never mind, I just had breakfast some hours ago" i said,

Which obviously wasn't true because soon after, my stomach grumbled hungrily,

I groaned, why did my stomach have to betray me of all times.

"So?" Rose raised her brows

"I don't know, i still have a lot to do" I hesitated

"You've gotta be kidding me, you're half done with this files, and you weren't told to submit today, huh?, ....I know it's your first day and you'll be a little shy and anxious but don't be , because I'm here to help you, okay?" Rose smiled

"Thank you" i smiled,

' at least, someone here was nice'

"So let's go?"

"Give me some seconds" I said, i quickly tidied my table and closed the laptop.

"Okay, I'm ready" i smiled

"I would have loved to show you around, but we have less time, lunch break is almost over" Rose said with an apologetic look on her face

"Hey, i had a great time already, besides you don't have to show me at once" i smiled hitting her shoulders playfully

"If you need anything don't hesitate to ask me, okay?" Rose said giving me a wide smile. She looked super cute when she did that.

"Of course....you have really been a great help" I said forcing a smile.

Rose nodded and we walked to our compartment.

I sighed and opened one of the files on my table, if I could get to finish these files before Thursday, I would be super happy. I was about to start working on the files when i heard a bell ring. At first i ignored it and continued what I was doing, but then I noticed other people in my block were leaving quickly . I turned wondering what was going on. Was this another break or something?.

"It's an important meeting.... From the boss" Rose replied my questioning looks.

'Jackass? Why now?'

"And hurry, you don't want to be on his bad side" she winked and grabbed a light book and pen .

I closed the file on my table and stood up, I took out my jotter and pen and followed Rose away.

"Hurry" Rose said to me as we approached the elevator

"Oh gosh... I need to go the washroom, I'll be back real quick" i said suddenly feeling tired.

"Okay....when you're out , take the elevator to the seventh floor, the first hall" Rose replied and walked into the elevator.

I nodded and hurried to the washroom.

I dropped my book and pen on the slab and washed my face hurriedly .

I touched my forehead, it was damn hot, what's wrong with me, I didn't feel this way before leaving home this morning, or could it be i'm anxious, but why.

"You can do this , Alexis, you can" i said staring at myself in the mirror

I grabbed the book and pen and dashed out of the washroom

"Ouch" i winced bumping into someone

The files in the person's hands fell of including , the files were scattered all over the floor

"Gosh" i gasped and bent to pick it, trying to arrange them back.

I looked up to see who I bumped into. 'Why did it have to be him of all people', I muttered inwardly

"I'm really sorry sir" i pleaded packing the scattered files together

"Of course you are, can't you ever watch where you are going" he asked in his usual cold voice

I didn't say anything, instead i packed the files together and stood up to hand it to him.

"Pardon me sir" i said without looking at him

" Pardon you?,. " i saw him furrow his brows

"Sir, it was a mistake , I didn't mean too" i tried to explain, but I guess he wasn't going to listen to me.

"You know..if you have a problem with your eyes, you should go see a doctor, because you don't always seem to know where you're walking to" he said , That's it, i can't take it any longer

"I think you're the one who has a problem " i yelled back at him.

He stared at me with wide eyes

"I already told you i was sorry, right?, what more do you need from me" i added at the top of my voice.

"Look, i don't care what you gonna do, I'm here for the first time and you already give me so much stress already, like seriously, I hate to admit, but this job sucks, you suck, your company sucks" i huffed, tears welling up in my eyes, i held my book and pen tightly and made to leave but he held my arm firmly and pulled me closer to himself.

"How dare you talk to me that way" he demanded anger clearly written on his face......
