Chapter 3 What's wrong

Ae Ri's POV

Immediately I got home after school, I went straight to my room and locked myself up.

Since when did I start reading people's mind? Although, it makes me know what is going through the mind of people around me and it saved me from poison today but still, a normal human being can't just suddenly start reading minds. It just doesn't makes sense to me.

I sat on the floor just behind the door as I broke down in tears.

"Mom, dad! I wish you were here. I miss you and I feel really lonely. No one in this world cares about me, can you please come back" I said to myself as more tears ran down my cheeks then I noticed something

As my tears dropped, they turned into pearls. I gasped in shock as I stared at the pearls on the floor. What the hell is happening to me?

It's not enough that I can read minds, my tears now turn to pearls? I think I'm cursed!

I stared at my room as fear engulfed me. Is someone playing a prank on me? What if a ghost is in this same room with me?

I shuddered at the thought and more tears streamed out of my eyes. I hugged myself tightly until I heard a sound in my room.

I searched everywhere but I didn't see who or what made the sound so I opened the door and ran out of the gates.

I ran to nowhere in particular. The guards tried running after me but they couldn't catch up with my pace.

It was not until after about three minutes that I realized my tears were turning to pearls on the road. I quickly wiped my face and find a quiet and hidden place to sit.

I didn't notice someone was behind me until I heard a voice.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" the voice asked

It was the voice of a male and somehow sounded familiar. I slowly turned back to look at the person and discovered it was the new student in my class.

What's his name again? I think it's Ye Jun or Ye Jin. His eyes widened in shock when he discovered I was the one.

"W... What are you doing here?" he stuttered getting scared

"Are you going to suck my blood?" he asked again and that was when I became utterly confused

"What are you talking about?" I asked wiping my face clean

"I know you're a vampire so quit the act" he finally said boldly after mustering enough courage

"A vampire? Do vampires exist?"

"I also thought they didn't exist but you proved me wrong?"

"How did I prove you wrong? Did my nails get longer or my teeth grew longer? Did you see me drink blood?" I asked angrily

"I... I... How do you explain what happened today then? You were able to read my minds and only vampires do that?" he said and I became scared

Only vampires read minds? Does that mean I'm a vampire? No!!!

"Why are you shaking your head?" he asked snapping me out of my thoughts

"I'm not a vampire. If you don't have anything to say, can you please leave me alone?"

"Fine then, you're not a vampire. What are you then?"

"Will you just shut up already?" I screamed at him with a tear rolling down my cheek

"Just leave, please" I whispered with my eyes closed

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you sad" he apologised

I slowly opened my eyes and cleaned my tears. I shouldn't be crying before him, he will see me as a weak girl.

"It's okay, I'm leaving now" I said standing up

"So soon?" he asked standing too

"Yeah. I just remember I have some things to do at home, maybe some other time. Bye!" I concluded and left before he could say a word

I walked slowly until I got home. The maids and guards stared at me strangely but I cared less.

I ignored them and went to my room locking myself up again. Where am I supposed to eat now? I don't know if they'll try to poison me again.

I hugged myself and slept in my bed. Although I was really scared, I don't have a choice. I can't possibly ask a maid to come and sleep with me.

I woke up very early the next morning, took my bath and dressed for school. The maids arrived minutes later to see me fully dressed and they were shocked.

"I wonder where those pearls came from" one of the maids said in her mind

They must have seen some pearls on the floor, it probably fell when I was running yesterday.

I pushed the thoughts behind me and went to my car. The driver drove me to school and I went to class.

The first person I met was Ye Jun. How come he's in school already? It's still very early.

My stomach rumbled and I remembered I haven't eaten breakfast and I skipped dinner yesterday too.

I walked quietly to my seat and dropped my bag. I took out some money and wanted going to the cafeteria when Ye Jun spoke up.

"Are you going to act like you didn't see me?" he asked coming close to me and I gulped nervously

I don't know why but ever since I discovered strange things about me, I've been scared of almost everything.

"Good morning" he said when I wasn't responding

"Morning" I said when I was a bit calm

"Why did you ignore me?" he asked again

"I didn't ignore you. I'm hungry so I want to get something to eat" I lied staring at my feet

"Why do I have a feeling you're lying? Anyway, let's go together" he offered and I snapped my head to him

"Thanks, but I'll prefer going alone" I blurted

"We're friends right? Friends walk together and do things together" he said making me scoff

"Friends? Who told you we're friends?"

"Aren't we friends? We spoke to each other yesterday"

"That doesn't mean we're friends, we only spoke to each other. Excuse me" I said and walked away

After getting what I needed, I headed back to class. Ye Jun was still seated there but I ignored him and ate my snacks.

Ye Jun's POV

I watched Ae Ri as she munched on the snacks slowly. I've always thought of her as an arrogant girl but yesterday made me think otherwise.

She was crying as she sat in that place not knowing I was there and immediately I said a word, she quickly wiped her tears.

Seeing her looking so vulnerable made me want to hold her and assure her things will be fine but I held myself back. Who knows what she will do?

I kept staring at her as she ate the snacks. How come I'm just noticing how beautiful she is?

"Can you just get rid of those thoughts please? My ears are full" she said and I became embarrassed

I totally forgot she could read minds. Why can't she stop listening to my thoughts? I'm sure there must be a way to stop it.

"Yeah, I guess so. I just wish I knew how to stop it, there's no joy in listening to people's thoughts. It's just so annoying" she said now looking at me

"So you mean you can't control it?" I asked and she nodded her head gently

"Wow! Are you human or a supernatural being?" I asked and I could notice the discomfort on her face when I asked the question

"What's wrong?" I asked her

She stared at me like she was contemplating if and should tell me or not before taking her eyes down and then she kept quiet.

"It's fine if you don't want to talk about it" I said calmly and left the class
