"Oh my gosh!" "Kyle. Is this really you, kyle?" "Guys, it's kyle Winston." "Is she your girlfriend? Oh my!"
"When are you holding a concert?"
His fans kept murmuring while some of his fans were taking pictures of him. He found it hard to make way in the crowd. It was getting much and he wasn't with any bodyguards.
"Damn it!" He cursed repeatedly.
"Kyle..."
He bowed his face after he successfully wore the facemask. He pushed his way through the crowd before it got worse. He hurried to the car while people were still after him. He hopped in. Winded up the car Windows and drove at full speed.
He couldn't believe he had touched a monster. He told himself that humans couldn't be like that.
He drove the car in the studio's car park. He alighted from the car and threw the key at a guard that he met on his way in the studio.
"Welcome sir." He nodded without answering.
"Thank goodness you're here. What's all this?" Raymond asked, walking toward Timothy.
"Hey. Kyle, you're a bit late." Timothy mumbled.
"Tim, I almost freaked out. You wouldn't believe what I saw. Gosh! I was terrified, the thing freaked me out! '' Kyle gabbled.
He angled a chair and straddled on it. Timothy handed him a a bottle of water and he guzzled down.
"Calm down, Kyle. what's the matter?"
"I guess his fans freak him out. You have to view the trending news." Raymond said and chuckled.
"She's... She's not human. I can't believe I touch a monster." He shuttered.
"Who are you talking about?"
"I almost hit a lady while I was driving."
"You drive?!" Timothy gasped.
"Calm down and allow me to finish. When I rushed out to help as I massaged her ankle..."
"You touch a lady?" Timothy widened, bewildering.
Kyle frowned his lips when he kept interrupting him. "Shut up and listen. Her eyes turned to different colors and they glimmered. Then her hair also glimmered. Oh my, Tim. She gave someone a fright."
"You drive? Kyle, what happened to your drivers? What are you going to say about this?" Davis snapped. He walked up to them and showed him the trending news on the internet.
"You caused everything."
"You really want to know... They're fired." Davis said finally.
"No. No, no. Davis, ain't what you're thinking." Kyle knew he meant he said and there was nothing he could do to change his mind.
"You are still going to tell me about this?" He pointed a finger at his phone.
Timothy looked at kyle. "Maybe you were hallucinating. How can someone's eyes change? That only happens in movies." Timothy chuckled.
"You don' t get it. I'm damn serious about what I saw. That lady isn't a human being." He stated.
"What's up?" Harry mocked as he sat on the next chair.
He narrowed his eyes. "Bad day."
"Kyle, I'm going to punish you later. Follow me now." Davis uttered as he walked ahead. Then up, Kyle rose, following him as we entered another room.
There were other females in the room. They were known as queens. Their fans addressed them with the title because they were talented and deserved the crowns. For short, they were known as Q-band.
"Kyle, we haven't found the best voice in any of the records the contestant submitted. So I've decided to go for Darlene. She's the best, kyle." Davis said while Darlene grinned nonstop.
"Let's wait till next month. This is about a new member, not just anyone from their band. Diamond stars have many talented young teenagers and I'll love to perform the concert with the lucky one. It's time to make their dreams come true. The concert isn't now anyway.
Diamond stars were a home for everyone, not just anyone. Kyle was trying to change the system and he'd to do everything to abolish the old system.
Despite knowing Darlene was the only lady with the most beautiful voice ever, Kyle believed that there was someone out there whose voice was also worth listening to. There were many young adults whose voices must be heard by people.
KENNEDY GOOGLED HOW to repair a damage tape. "The audio on deteriorated magnetic tape can sometimes be recovered, albeit temporarily, by what's called 'baking,' which involves moderate heating in a dry oven... 'Baking' drives moisture out of the tape and can often restore its playability, it's reported, but usually for only a few weeks..." She read out. She hit her fist on the desk. She didn't seem to understand anything she came across on Google. "Seriously this shit is very hard."
She kept trying to use different methods both the one from YouTube. She kept doing it till she was able to repair the tape. She played the magnetic tape and waited patiently for the sound.
It was after two minute she heard Odette's voice, singing beautifully. What a rich melodious voice! She thought. Sometimes she wished she was Odette. She was good at everything she did. Kennedy quickly turned on the sound record, she recorded the song then saved it on her phone. She listened to the voice again before summiting on the website.
"Mission accomplished. " She jumped up happily. "Now I have to return this tape." She murmured. She shook her head and touched her cheek. She couldn't feel the hard slap across her face. She put the tape inside her packback and walked out of the laboratory.
Kennedy headed back. She met Nathan sitting in her chair. There was a devilish look of mischief in his eyes. She ambled up to him.
"What are you doing, Nath?
"Waiting for you."
"Me? Just get the hell off my seat now!" She snapped before she could stop herself.
"What if I don't?" He smirked.
Kennedy angrily picked a bottle on the table and poured the water in it on his clothes.
"Oh my gosh! He exclaimed.
"Oh my! Nathan." She covered her month as if it wasn't intentional. Students started murmuring and she chose to ignore it as somewhere calling her some sort of bad name.
"You psycho!." He yelled.
"Whatever" She shrugged nonchalantly. She stalked out of the classroom after she had accomplished another mission.
WHEN SHE GOT back to her room, she locked the door. She removed the facemask, and she allowed it to fall on the tiling floor. How come her power doesn't work on him? She couldn't stop thinking about it. She had tried to make him forget everything but the spell she mumbled when her eyes turned didn't work on him.
Has her magic become weak? She looked over the clock on the wall, it fell and shattered on the floor. She extended her right hand toward a box and it started shaking.
"Then what's wrong with me? why can't my magic work on him?" She paced around her room leisurely.
The way he stared at her seemed like he remembered everything that he saw and that bothered her. She was becoming restless. What if he tells people what he saw? She thought.
She massaged her forehead. "Calm down, Odette. Next time I meet him I won't spare him." She concluded.
ANOTHER NOTIFICATION POPPED on his laptop screen. Timothy viewed it. It was from the voice contest website. His phone rang, he turned the laptop over to pick up the call.
"Harry, you should check the website now. I just received a notification." He divulged. Since it was his father, he decided not to pick, he had to call him back. He sat beside Harry as he worked on the laptop.
He clicked on the notification. They didn't hear any sound when he play the song the contestant had uploaded. After two minutes, Timothy was about to stand when he heard the most melodious singing voice ever.
"Wow!" Harry exclaimed. He looked at Timothy, both of them had the same surprised countenance.
"The voice..."
Scott dashed in. He wore a surprised look like others. He pointed at the laptop and narrowed his eyes. "Hey, who sang the song please? Scott inquired. They clicked on the contestant's details, and it showed the person's ID.
"Kennedy Richard. An aspirant of Diamond stars. " Timothy divulged.
"We gotta look for her." He paused.
"Now." There was something different about the voice they heard. It was calm, innocent... In fact the voice was everything they wanted. They headed out, three of them.
"Hey guys. Going somewhere?" Kyle asked.
"Yeah..." Timothy replied instead.
"Holy shit! Kyle, check this out." Scott played the record.
"I love the song, and the voice is beautiful but the person edited the voice, such a voice doesn't exist. The editing is too much." Kyle said nonchalantly.
"Are you damn serious now?" Timothy frowned.
"Whatever. Tim, I'm out." Scott mumbled with a prick of disappointment in his voice.
"Seriously?" He lifted a brow.
"Let Davis do it. You shouldn't go there on your own or Davis will kill you if he finds out."
"You're not changing my mind, Kyle." Timothy protested.
"Maybe the voice is real. Don't worry. You should look for Kennedy then we will confirm if the voice is real or not." Scott replied and followed Kyle that was heading out.
"And you, harry?" He looked at him to know if he had given in to what Kyle said. Perhaps he believed the voice was edited.
"Trust me, we are in this together. I must confirm this voice. " Harry said. Both of them hurried to the parking lot. They hopped in the car and the driver drove out.
It was a long ride from the studio to Diamond stars. They alighted from the car. It was a bad idea coming to Diamond stars at that time. Cameras flashed on them from different angles.
'It's Harry.' "Tim, my prince charming" "He's here for me. Harry, I love you." Students kept murmuring. The guards rushed in and made way for them. "Move aside please." They ordered.
Students were trying to touch them but the bodyguards never gave any of them a chance.
"Thank goodness Kyle doesn't come. I can't imagine being stuck in the crowds for an hour." Harry said as they entered the private room.
"You know Kyle won't come around unless Davis forces him." Timothy added.
"She'll be here soon." Said Harry after a while.
"Really? I was about to summon her. Thanks buddy."
Kennedy stepped inside. She was accompanied by a bodyguard. Timothy gestured to him to excuse them. He left.
"Hello." She mumbled while staring at Timothy.
"Are you Kennedy Richard?" Timothy enquired.
"Yes."
"You sent a record to the contest website. Are you among the contestants?"
"Yes. I did." She chuckled.
"I don't think she's the lady we're looking for. Check her out. Her voice is so lame." Harry whispered to his ear.
"Really? What if she's the lady? Calm down, Harry." Timothy whispered back.
"You remembered the song right?"
"Y-yeah?" Kennedy knew she had made a mistake. She didn't know it was going to be that fast or they'd come for her. It'd got to her that she had created a mess for herself using Odette's voice was an awful choice. That wasn't what she was supposed to do. She picked on her fingers while looking down at her feet.
"Look at her, Tim. Her answer is lame, two she's fighting with her sleeve." Harry whispered.
"She's lying?" Timothy whispered back.
"If she's lying... Her answer will be confusing. Psychologist speaking." Harry said sarcastically. Timothy chuckled at his remark.
"Hmm." She cleared her throat. "I-I sang the song."
"All right. Kennedy, how about you sing now? I want to hear your beautiful voice." Harry said and bursted into delighted laughter.
Kennedy blinked severally while staring at them. She wouldn't sing. She didn't have the voice they wanted. Harry knew she was lying but he kept playing along. It had been a while since he had a nice time.
