Chapter 4 The memory pot.

Mike sat down , waiting for him to go on "I heard you went to court when I sent for you earlier " he said .

"Yeah " he responded and he smiled "and you won ?" He said in a questioning manner but with much confidence "yes" he said and his smile broadened "Exactly my point Mr Ross , you're good but overworking yourself too much " he said and Mike wonders where this was going .

"You need some rest ...in life you don't need just money ,you also need to take care of yourself ,don't be offended, I'm not saying that you're only working to gain money " he said "I'm doing it to make money " Mike admitted and the man stared at him .

"What ?" Mike asked "Aren't you doing this because you love me and my firm " he said and Mike stared at me in a weird manner ,trying to check where that thought came from probably "I'm doing it to make money " he said and the man sighed in Defeat .

" Anyways ,you're doing a big and recognizable work in my firm which has made me who I am today ,I remember those years when I was young like you and was always going to courtroom to defend criminals ,my passion for the safety of the citizens were always clear , I was indeed outstanding " he said in a way that made it seem like he was reminiscing on those days .

"i was also the best in my firm so I decided to build mine " he said "i thought you always accompanied witnesse " Mike said .

" I didn't do that all the time " he corrected immediately and a smile almost curved in Mikes face "what were you saying before " he was forced to ask because he was never really interested in his fake story .

"Oh ...as I stated earlier on , you work too much and it's September ,that's 3 months before Christmas and I'm not giving you a leave for Christmas so I decided to choose now " he said and paused like he was expecting something from me .

"Are you giving me a leave ?" I asked and he smiled "yes but I felt like you wouldn't agree since you probably have nothing to do so I fixed that agenda and boom!" He said , revealing a ticket in his hand , I collected it from him .

It's a ticket to New York ,scheduled for Saturday ,what exactly is he planning "That was supposed to be for me but I want my best employee to have it so when he comes back , he'll make me proud more often as usual .

"Thank you but u have a trial tomorrow " he said "I'll send Simon " he said "it's a minor case ,so have and don't bother coming tomorrow ,see you in 2 weeks time " he said and I checked the date on the ticket , two weeks in New York, are you kidding me ? .

"Why two weeks?" He asked "so you'll have a long rest , now smile and go back to your office " Mr . Gary said and stood up from the couch ,headed to his main chair to show that he was done with the discussion.

Mike left , headed to his office ,he sat down and stared at the ticket in my hands , it's a company that organized it and according to this ticket , he's to leave in two days time .

He has to call his mother to bid her farewell ,his uncle ,he could even spend the remaining two days with his mother but he has to pack so he has no choice , he'll just see them when he gets back .

He picked up a folder that was laying in his table to read and think of solutions , oh ,he's supposed to not work ,now what was he going to do .

" What are your plans towards the current job ?" Mary asked with her hand folded on the table in a way like she was stretching her fingers with a pen in between her middle finger .

"I think we can use a beach to advertise this scene and maybe make use of a celebrity " she said and Mary could get a picture of what Jana was painting and it sounded good , really .

They're to advertise an umbrella and a chair ,it's very easy to use , very small to carry , saying this words are only giving her more ideas .

"The celebrity will lay on the chair and it might affect her convenience so she'll use it and to maintain her skin " Jana continued "Easy to use and convenient in transportation" Mary added and they all caught the picture already .

"It's a very good idea , I'll say , I really love that idea " Mary said and Jana blushed "Thank you ma " she said and Mary smiled at her , she always love Staffs that work for the progress of her company.

" You and Kenzie should be able to pull this out " she asked "Yes ma" Jana and Kenzie replied and she smiled , that's a success and a relief.

" Okay ,what are we working on again because Jamie told me on Monday morning that he was working on something so I was expecting you to say something " she said in a gesture of 'continue' .

" It's true that I'm working on something bit it had not come to an end yet " Janie said , arranging his papers simultaneously.

"Say it and let's work on it together " Mary suggested and he placed his papers in the table "it's about a drink company that's new , I thought it was easy and that I could do it in my own " he said .

Jamie is new here "you're new , calm down and work with us for a while or better still , go to Mrs. Hart when you have any challenge or come to me , my door is open to any ideas .

"Okay ma" he said "so ..what ideas have you gotten so far ?" Mary asked him " i might need a club ,the drink can be used to celebrate so I just thought a short video of clubbers enjoying might boost the sales " he explained .

"it's a good idea , but don't use just any club ,use a more popular one ,when you find out the club , let me know I'll talk to the owner " Mary said and he smiled .

" Thank you ma " he responded gratefully ,this is his first real work after he got his job so she could only imagine how happy he was .

"Okay ,I think that's all we have to discuss " she said and they all nodded "Yes ma " Jana responded which she appreciated because she doesn't like the nods ,so informal and a little rude.

"Okay ,then , we have come to an end of this meeting ,so I want you all to go back and do what I've distributed already " she said and they started packing their papers together .

They were not much that was working with her , they're only 4 and they're all helpful which is why she gives them a raise every end of the year to appreciate their worth .

She got up on her feet "I have a meeting with Mr. Downey and I can't say when I'll be back but I'll try to be early " she said and got up on her feet .

She checked her watch and it was 8:30 pm , she still got time to do a thing or two in her office before departure.

She walked to her office and closed the door before balancing in her chair ,Mr Downey is close to her so she's not surprised that he wants to have an official meeting over a lunch at his restaurant.

He's rich and famous and he's a good man ,very good and he can be a person's role model , he always brightens up at her sight and indulge her in deep conversation that made her understand his family's deepest secrets , that's how they talk but it's a pity the talky side doesn't reciprocate ,she just laughs at what he says .

She opened her shelve and found an old newspaper ,she raised it up to meet with her eyes and the headlines came to sight

"The suspect behind the assault of Linda Malcolm has been apprehended" which made her stare into the air for a very long time .

Pain was moving through her veins which were surprisingly hot , she was not calm , not herself anymore .

The news broke a memory pot ,the headlines are very familiar , except the name , in her own case ,it wasn't Linda Malcolm , it was Mary Jane.
