Chapter 4 Piggy back ride

"Hey Tara". Vicky called but I ignored her.

Sammie bumped my shoulder. "Hey look at the bright side, at least you get to go underground with a boiling hot guy who's your future husband". I glared at Sammie and she raised up her hand in surrender.

"Look". Sadie came at me. "We were just trying to look out for you by looking out for ourselves, we all know what you are".

"No Sadie, I believe the word is what she is" Amy said.

"No, it's who she is". Vicky added.

"I believe the word is how she is" the unknown voice made us all turn and my frown turned into a glare once I saw who it was. Luca, he was smiling and I was glaring and my friends were laughing watching me glaring.

"Now, I believe the word is let's skiddadle outta here". Sammie added and they all left me with the smiling Luca.

"So tell me, Tara what's the plan". He asked.

I smiled at him now. "The plan is to just go in there and find the three sticks and get separated from you".

"Exactly, and that's why i said...."

I didn't wait for him to finish before I headed into our part of the underground tunnel.

"So tell me, how do you know the difference between this sticks". Luca asked but I ignored Him and continued looking around.

"You know we're supposed to be walking together right". He added but I didn't answer.

"Would you at least say something".

"Fine!, I'll say something. Stop bothering me and shut up!!!!".

Thunder seemed to strike immediately I shouted and I was almost tempted to believe my voice was the cause of it. Then the kingdom's alarm went off.

There was trouble.

"What was that". Luca asked.

I passed him and headed for the entrance but immediately I tried going out the entrance closed as a black Boulder from nowhere clashed in it.

"God no, we're locked in"

"What do you mean locked in, this is all an illusion there's no way that Boulder could be really there". Luca said.

I sighed. "Sure, try your luck".

He walked past me and pushed the boulder but it didn't even make a screech. "Impossible. It was just an illusion".

"Well now it's not".

"Don't you have any powers or something, are you just". He waved his hand all over my body before adding. "This"

I sighed in attempt to cool my brain. "Why can't you also do something, or are you also". I repeated what he did. "Just this"

"Don't compare me to you, I have powers. My powers are bravery and strength".

"Ooh, like bravery is a power".

"Well that's the case. If I get challenged I can't back down. I don't get scared and I'm absolutely not a chicken unlike someone I just met".

"What is that supposed to mean, I'm brave, at least I don't make fun of boys who admire me"

"Oh like I care, like I really care about who admires you" I thought about the conversation and what I said. Do boys really admire me or did I just say that to make myself feel better. Well the greater thinking was ahead. We we're stuck in an illusion. And I'm stuck with an handsome freak of nature that finds it funny to stare at me unclosed.

"Stop looking at me"

"How was I looking at you"

"Like I'm some kind of food you're dying to taste"

"Well I'll soon be tasting you, so feel free to stare back"

I was tempted to blush but then I thought over his words. Tasting me. "Oh God you're so vulgar"

"At least I don't hide it behind my friends" he replied. Why does everybody say that?. I don't hide behind them, I don't expect them to do anything for me. It's just that, they're always there when I need them. And it's not like I'll tell them no when they offer to help.

"Let's find a way out of here. I don't like being stuck"

"Trying to change the subject are we?"

"Seriously how can we get out of here"?

"Well there's no way out. We can only go out the way we came in and it's currently blocked"

"Well if we can't go out, we should at least know what's going on" I whimpered. I watched Luca walk back to the boulder and bent infront of it, then he laid his hand on the floor and then he inhaled.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm trying to know what's going on"

"By what?, By placing your fingers on the floor?" He didn't reply and after some seconds he stood up and looked at me.

"It's an Invasion to kidnap you" he said that like it was nothing to be scared about. So I asked the expected question.

"How did you get that by placing your fingers on the floor?"

"It's a gift. I use the floor vibrations to connect to tree roots and the roots tell me what's going on" he again said that like it was nothing special. So I asked the obvious question.

"A weird special gift. And I'm jealous of it, to be sincere, so why would they want me?"

"I don't know that, I'm not a seer"

"Well ask the roots"

" I'll pretend you didn't say that, but why would they want a powerless princess"

The words struck me deeply, the powerless princess. How cliche. But yes, why would they want me.

"We should at least try to get ourselves out"

"No, we can't risk you getting out, if they want you. You should remain hidden. I'm sure that after the invasion Mr blue or Brown would come for us". He said

Yeah, like I'm that important to come back for. But well. It was something to hope to.

I leaned on a wall. "We might as well find those sticks while we're in here".

He looked at me like i just became the most mysterious thing in the cave. "Really you're thinking of sticks in this situation"

"What ?. I can't stay in one place for too long. I get frustrated" Luca sighed and also leaned on the wall.

"You know, I was really hurt with the way you spoke to me" he said and I gasped in sarcasm.

"Really"?

"Yeah". He pretended not hear the sarcasm. "I didn't really mean the whole girl going crazy for me stuff. To tell you the truth. It kinda gets uncomfortable".

"Really?" this time I meant the question.

"Yeah, what do you think I wear a mask for, and back at my place it get boring being the only one with crazy powers"

"You said the powers like you have more that the power you showed and told me"

"I do, I'm a multi Tasker"

"That's a lie, I mean they're rear"

"But not extinct". He replied. "But I still can't believe you don't have any powers, I mean how's that possible"

You know the feeling where you feel sad and angry at the same time just because people keep asking you the same question that hurts you deeply. Well that's what I felt when he asked that question. " I don't know, I guess I'm not meant to have powers". Somehow I really meant what I said.

"Maybe you've just not found something to trigger it or maybe it's waiting for the right time to spark"

I would have been overjoyed if those words came from another person but at least a person did. And it lifted my spirits. "Well if you put it that way, then maybe" I smiled. -surprisonly

Luca suddenly stood upright and touched the wall. "The illusion is fading"

" It's either the invasion is over or Mr Brown is dying" I voiced out before I could stop myself. The illusion withered and I found myself staring at nothing in particular. The castle was where it was ten miles away from us. The school was still standing. But everywhere was exceedingly quiet. I wanted to take a step forward but Luca held me back.

"Something's not right"

"Don't you think I know that"? I tried moving but he still held me.

"It's a trap"

"Why would there be a trap"

"For once in your life trust me and stop questioning me" he bent and picked up a rock the he threw it into the void. Ropes and darts from nowhere attacked the rock but it was barely touched cause it was small and realisation kicked in. That could have been us.

"We need to be careful, something's going on"

"Yeah, why's it so quite"

"Yeah, I was thinking about the same thing, climb my back" he said and i did a 'what for face'

"Just climb" he snapped while bending his lower back. I sighed and went behind him.

"Has anyone told you how tall you are, so bend more" he sighed and bent his back more and I jumped on him. My actions may have or not but made him stumbled but he caught himself before he could fall. He hissed at me.
