Chapter 4 True crush

Another party was called by the class captain, Patricia. Of course Stephanie was invited but as usual she's absent in occasions like this.

Almost all the students in the school were present. Everyone were having fun except Ryan and Phil.

Phil had looked around for Stephanie but she was nowhere to be found in the party, he really enjoys looking at her even when he couldn't talk or go close to her but seeing her still makes him happy just that he doesn't shows it.

Ryan noticed him looking around and walked close to him with his drink in his right hand.

"Are you waiting for someone?" Ryan asked as he sat down on the chair across Phil's on a circular shaped table. "And how is that your business?" Phil replied rudely eyeing Ryan. He didn't even know why he asked, maybe because he knew Phil liked his best friend.

"You know, it will really help you if you could learn to mind your business." He said and left Ryan on his own.

Janet had been watching Phil's every move ever since he had entered the hall. She saw both Ryan and Phil talking and she was curious to know if they were talking about her. As soon as Phil stood up she went to Ryan greeting some of her school mate before getting to his table. She sat down exactly where Phil was sitting, placing her drink on the table and rest her back on the chair with her legs crossed. Ryan watched her as she sat down. " What's up"

"Hmmmm, I don't know... What were the both of you talking about?" She asked giving him an evil smile, now resting her elbow on the table and the back of her left hand under her jaw, supporting it. Ryan took a sip of his drink. " Why?" He paused taking another sip expecting her to reply but she didn't, she was watching him instead. " Well, it's not something important" he said, moving his gaze to the celebrant, she was busy receiving presents from her friends. He doesn't want to have a conversation with Janet, he had been avoiding her for more than a week. He tried all he could to make her feel something for him or even look at him but it was useless, she rejected him, it was okay to Ryan. He would keep on trying but what she did pissed him off. She insulted him in front of the whole school, she insulted the feelings he had for her. She made fun of him and shouted it out that she would never like someone like him, he disgust her. Ryan was hurt like as if he was shot so many times. He skipped class for two days. Stephanie wasn't aware of what Janet did to her best friend, she had gone home when it all happened. She was worried for Ryan, she called him so many times but no response from him. Ryan attended school the next day, decided to forget what happened and focus on his studies. Stephanie stopped him as he walked into the class

"Where have you been?" She asked as she followed him to his seat.

"You skipped class yesterday and a day before. Why? Is it because of what Janet did? Don't let it get to you, I'm here for you anyway" she said as she rubbed her hand on his back, Rachel had told her what had happened and why she thinks Ryan wasn't in school. The short girl who told Phil to sit behind Stephanie.

"Stephanie lesson is about to start please sit down" he said motioning for her sit, she listened to him and brought out some books from her bag and handed it to Ryan

"When you weren't in school"

"Thanks" He smirked.

Stephanie was alone in her room, on her bed. She had placed her phone resting on her pillow, folded her legs with popcorn in her hand as she watched the last episode of the movie 'what I like about you'. She has watched almost eight episode that day since she wasn't able to attend Patricia's party and she doesn't want to be bored, so she watched a movie. Her eyes were tired as the eighth episode ended and she ate the last popcorn. She plugged her phone and lay straight on her bed, she didn't realize when she started thinking of Phil and how brave she was to pour water on him. She laughed when she remembered the expression on his face when the water flowed down his face . She was scared, her knee weak, she didn't know what to do. Should she sit down and apologize? She asked herself but she ended up walking away expecting Phil to push her so she could fall on her knees and beg for forgiveness but he didn't. Why? She asked herself. She was too tired and fell asleep.

He stood up, avoiding Janet and her questions. The party was boring because he was alone, no one to talk to, Stephanie was not around. Even all the friends he has was boring to him that moment. He wanted to chat and play with Stephanie. It's just yesterday that he hadn't seen her and he misses her. He walked to the celebrant, wish her a happy birthday and left the hall finding Phil staring into space, his drink in his right hand. He walk passed him.

"Hey, I see your brave friend is not here today" Phil caught Ryan's attention, he really wanted to know why Stephanie wasn't around but he couldn't ask directly. Ryan turned to face him.

"Which friend?"

" Stephanie of course"

" Ohh, she's not attending the party, and why are you concerned? Wait were you waiting for her the whole time?"

"Why would I wait for her? You were leaving so I asked" like that was the real reason, turns out the bad boy wasn't that bad.

"I'm heading to her house anyway, it's too boring here, you can come along if u want. I've noticed that you're also bored here" Ryan said, squinting his eyes waiting for Phil to let it out.

"Why would I do that?" Phil asked, eyeing Ryan as he took a sip of the drink he haven't tasted since he took it.

"Because you like her"

" What?!!"

"I've noticed the way you look at her and even when she embarrassed you in front of everyone you didn't do anything to her. Of course you like her" Ryan explained

"So you were watching me all this time?" he asked, thankfully, he didn't denied it.

" No, I noticed it because that was the way I was to Janet" Ryan replied with a sad expression on his cute face.

" I do like her but it's useless , she would never like me when you are in the way" Phil said eyeing Ryan, he couldn't believe himself letting it all out to someone who is stopping Stephanie from looking at him. Maybe because he was tired of holding it in.

"Me? What do you mean?"

"Don't you know?.... Stephanie likes you, she does everything to make you feel comfortable. Of course you don't know when you are after a girl who has a crush on me" Phil explained watching Ryan being so confused and it was written over his face.

Now he knows why Stephanie had always been upset when he talks about Janet. He didn't say anything to Phil, he left him standing and head to Stephanie's house.
