Trinidad's POV
Home was a two bed apartment located in the heart of the city, I hardy stayed here because my missions sent me to different parts of the world, this was just a place I could lie low and just relax for a few days before the next mission came up,
All my plants were dead, I hardly ever saw my neighbors and when I did, I never said a word to them, so I guess my plants paid the price for my bad manners, well it's not like I gave a damn about the stupid plants anyway, I had only had them because they came with the house, well at least now I didn't have bother with watering them which I only did when I was bored and that was almost never,
I took the key from the rug in front of the door, I opened the door and walked in, I threw my bag on the floor and walked straight to the kitchen, I opened the fridge and pulled out a can of beer, I popped it open and raised the liquid to my lips, it was cold and refreshing, I didn't care if it was just 11am right now, it wasn't like I was going to leave the house again today and I had no friends who might unexpectedly drop in and find me drinking in middle of the day,
I grabbed two more cans and a leftover pizza I saw, I wasn't sure how long it had been there but after careful inspection, I figured it was good enough to eat, at least I was sure I won't die from food poisoning, my body had been injected with 25 different lethal poisons in small amount to the extent that my body became immune to them, so I was sure pizza that had gone a little bad wouldn't kill me,
I took the beer and pizza along with me to the living room and collapsed on the couch facing the TV, I picked up the remote and switched on the TV, I flicked through the channels until I came across something entertaining, I settled for a talk show,
I threw the remote to a corner on the couch and settled to drink my beer and eat my pizza.

It was my 3rd day without food, I was hungry and starving but above all of that, I was angry, the matron at the orphanage had refused feeding me because I fought with Tommy Reddington, he was a big boy with a nasty face, he had tried to take my doll away so I had jumped on him and bit his right ear until it bled, it had taken the matron and two other staffs to get me off the crying boy, when they finally got me away from him, he ran away crying and screaming on top of his voice and I was smiling, I was very certain that was the last time he would bother me again,
After that the matron had grabbed me roughly by my skinny hand and threw me into the laundry room, it was cold and smelt of dirty laundry, she had told me that she wanted me to learn my lesson, she came every morning to check if I was humble now but I refused to show her that her punishment bothered me but today I knew that if I went another day without food or water I will surely die, so I told myself that I could just submit this time because I didn't want to die in this filthy orphanage,
I had spent all my life here, I was 10 years old and I was told my mother had come to the orphanage when she was in labor and she had given birth to me and died shortly after, so I was named at the orphanage,
The orphanage was the closest thing I knew to hell, growing up here, one had to learn to survive at a very young age, the matron and staffs here were wicked and mean, the food meant for the orphans were distributed among the staffs while we were left to suffer in hunger,
I didn't want to live all my life here, one day I will leave this place behind and never look back, so today I will beg if I had to, I couldn't die here,
So when the matron came that morning, I was ready with a meek and resigned face, I put in my best effort to make myself look humble,
"Have you learned your lesson Trinidad?" the fat woman said, she was looking down at me from her nose,
"Yes Ma'am" I answered, my voice had never sounded so humble,
She nodded her head "Of course, 3 days without food and water will surely calm you down" she said with her voice that sounded like a door hinge that desperately needed oil,
"Yes Ma'am" I said again,
"Very well, you are free to go now and once you leave here make sure you take a bath then head to the kitchen and have your meal and put on one of your nice dresses, today some people are coming over to see if they can adopt anyone of you pests, and I hope they choose you so that i can finally be rid of you and your problems" she said,
I felt my heart fly in joy, I looked forward to adoption day because I knew I could actually leave this place if one the families chose me,
"Thank you Ma'am" I said and ran past her,
I could hear her hurling insults at me but of course I didn't care, it was adoption day after all,
I darted into my room and ran over to the bunk which I l slept, I pulled my supposed good dress from under the mattress, it was a sky blue worn out dress with dark blue flowers stitched on it, it had been given to me by one of the older girls that had been adopted, it was pretty but old,
I folded it and placed it on the bed and ran over to the bathroom, thankfully it was empty, it was way past the time when we normally took our baths, I am sure the other kids were having breakfast by this time,
I took my time in taking my bath since I hadn't had one in the last three days, I scrubbed and washed my red hair till it shone and smelt like the soap we used in taking our baths, when I was satisfied with just how clean I was, I dashed out of the bathroom and ran all the way to my room, once inside, I quickly slipped on my underwear and my dress, I brushed my hair with a little hair brush I had gotten from one of the older girls again, then I headed to kitchen,
The other children were still eating, I quickly took a plate and went to collect my food, it was a piece of bread with thin broth, I scrunched my nose but I took it without a word, I found a place to sit and quickly ate my breakfast telling myself that today was surely the day I left this place forever,
10 minutes later, we were told to assemble in a place known as big room, it was the place we normally gathered when such things were happening,
I was the first one out the hall, by the time I got there, I saw the matron talking with well-dressed man with long hair that was tied at the back, he was tall and the matron looked like a waddling penguin beside him,
When I ran in, he turned to look at me, his eyes were not kind but they didn't look like the ones the people of this orphanage had so it was still okay,
"Can't you walk carefully Trinidad?" The matron said in a harsh voice but she quickly remembered she was in the presence of a guest because she quickly softened her expression and threw a smile my way,
I ignored her and kept looking at the man who was now walking up to me, he walked until he standing right in front of me, I didn't look away, I kept looking at him, he looked different from the other people I had met before,
He knelt before and said "What's your name little girl?"
"I am Trinidad" I answered,
And then he smiled, no one had ever smiled at me before and though his eyes still weren't kind, I felt at ease with his smile,
"I am Mr. Perez, would you like to go home with me?" he said, the smile still on his face and then he held out his hand to me,
I smiled back and placed my skinny hand into his outstretched hand.

Present day
The sound of my phone made pry my eyes away from the TV screen, I looked at the caller ID, it was HQ, I quickly answered it,
"Report to HQ tomorrow for your new mission agent Fox"
A voice said once I answered and the line went dead.
