Chapter 5 Oh God My Idol!

Anger, that is the only emotion that's taking precedence inside Adriana. She kept cursing as multitude of KC's picture keeps popping up in their school forum. Some of which are poorly edited to the point where her idol's hand looked unnatural. The posts are mean and is clearly meant to defame her idol. Some even had KC looking like she is sniffing something off of a tube while bent on a table, which portrays her as an addict. It annoyed Adriana to the core but she can't do anything about it.

Chantell also refused to accept her article, reasoning that Adriana must first come to school and discuss her content in front of the entire news club before her work is published on the school news paper. Adriana couldn't see the logic behind it though and something was telling her that Chantell is silently refusing to give a hand on the topic about KC.

All Adriana can do is curse all of them while rotting inside her room.

It is the sixth day of her punishment. Her parents refused to hear a word from her. They are admanat and firm on their decision. Her father even threatened her that he will personally visit their school and ask for her removal if she insists on her as they quote "incessant rambling about an Internet idol."

So, Adriana gave up and resorted to endless hours of tears while re-watching videos of her idol.

After KC posted her grievance about the picture, some students took her side again while others are still bent on believing that KC is hiding something. Adriana can't do anything but read and comment back. She felt like an idiot trolling their school forum, making sure that every post about KC receives a fair amount of her comment, fighting and protecting her from the sudden change of her fans. She felt appalled and unbelieving of how they immediatly turned their back on her Idol, after a single photo, that was clearly proven by KC to be a hoax, changed their perception of her. Didn't any of them truly held KC in their heart? Was everything so fake that they can hurt KC and treat her so badly in a matter of hours?

Adriana, kept shouting words of profanities to her bedroom wall and cursed her unsuspecting pillow and sheets in desperation.

Angela felt mortified as her daughter decided to keep herself locked up inside her room. She and her husband wanted to teach their Adriana a lesson, but not to the point where her daughter would fall into depression. She knocked on her daughter's bedroom door and immediately, Adriana opened it.

Angela suddenly felt a pang of guilt building inside her as her daughter's face came into view. She have dark bags under her eye, her face looks oily, which clearly states that she had not washed it in days. Her hair is messy and greasy looking too.

"Fine, if it's that important to you, I will allow you to attend school on Monday." Angela murmured as she wrapped her arm around her daughter.

The words have seemingly brought her daughter back to life, because Adriana immediately jumped out of her embrace and kissed her cheek over and over while saying thank you and assuring Angela that she had learned her lesson.

Sunday morning. "Just one more day" Adriana kept repeating to herself as she stare with wide eyes at the mind blowing comments about KC, continuing to dominate their school forum. She even resorted to e-mailing the Dean for an immediate action on KC's matter, but unbelievably, the Dean replied with "It's just a phase."

Just a phase, how can the Dean say such words when it was KC who brought the school nmerous number of students, herself included.

Adriana spent the whole of Saturday night and Sunday to finish and finalise her article about the bullying that KC received in their forum. But what truly bugged Adriana is that KC seem to have faded and disappeared from social media. Her last post was that of the video, explaining her side. After that, none came. Her tick-tock, Instagram and Facebook account is bare of new posts.

Adriana spent a restless Sunday night and when Monday morning came, she put on her best looking dress, painted her face with the fiercest make-up look she could come up with, done her hair in perfect bun, and chose a bright red heel to go with her look.

San Juaquin High she murmured as she stepped out of her car. The five storey building painted in light pink and embellished with gold linings stands so proud before her. The ground the school covered is too vast that it has its own golf course, with a turf grass that's maintained regularly. A basket ball court, a swimming rink, a huge gym and small edifice built for each club the school has which totaled to thirty. Her news paper club is located near the basket ball court, so Adriana walked with her heels click clocking on the pavements.

She almost fell face first when someone bumped into her while shouting, "The Prom Queen is dead." At first, Adriana did not give it any deeper meaning, believing that its a result of the dwindling number of people supporting the idea that KC is innocent of the things she is accused of. She proceeded to trudge the pavement leading to her club when someone grabbed her hand and said "They found KC's body a few meters from the back wall."

Adriana did not say anything in the first ten seconds, she allowed the words to fully sink in digesting and separating every syllable as if the sentence would miraculously give a meaning other than what it entails.

"Adriana, KC is dead" someone said, but Adriana felt frozen in place, unable to move from her spot.

"Dead, KC is dead" the words kept bouncing in her ear, consuming her senses, sending her body to shake until tears began to pool at the corner of her eyes.

"The police are coming" one student yelled, while the others, who was coming from different directions went past Adriana. She can hear crying and whispering but still, her body refused to move. Her tears began to fall and when someone purposely tugged on her hair, Adriana finally snapped out of her shock induced state.

She ran towards the pooling number of students headed for the back wall. She didn't care if she bumped into people. All that mattered to Adriana is to confirm if the words are true.

Two meters away from the back wall, which was not truly considered as part of the school because it was erected as a barricade between San. Juaquin High property and the church near-by, Adriana saw a familiar figure laying sideways on the ground. She is wearing a turquoise colored spaghetti strapped dress. One shoe is still on her left foot while the other is missing. No blood is in sight or any distinct indication that an accident happened.

What is present though, are the various scratches and what looks like red ring shaped marks on the the girl's hands. It covered her from fingers to shoulder. The girl's long hair is sprawled around her head and her face barely gave way to her identity. The Dead girl's face is oozing with what seemed like puss, her cheek is blotched and her eyes are red with a single trail of blood coming from her left eye down to her cheek.

"That can't be KC" Adriana yelled, her voice seemed to echo despite the openness of the space that they are standing on.

"It is her, look at the necklace and the ring." one student yelled.

Adriana let her eyes linger over the body on the ground. The ring, it is a custom made jewelry which was given to KC as a gift from a famous jewel brand. It is the only one in the world. The necklace is a token kept by the reigning prom Queen that is to be given to the next winning candidate.

Adriana felt her heart sank, as it fully dawned on her. Katherina Cecillia Sylvestre is dead!
