"Is that all you are going to say like nothing ever happens?" She huffed with indignation. Her father wagged his fork.
"Calm down Aurora. We understand everything, it's a hard choice. You're free to come home whenever you like now."
"You are the one saying that. I will not welcome you until you go back to Celeste and apologize for be insolent. Haven't I taught you as a father?"
"If you are talking about that now, maybe I should remind you that you never show me anything but coldness. Do you even care about me at all or feelings? You abandon your only daughter and force her to do something she never wants. I've been living with my Aunt ever since I was kid. Attending some stupid witch class. Mom are you a witch?" She hit her hands against the table and her mother flinched back.
"You are our only daughter and that is why we have to stop you. You mother is never a witch." Hammond calmed down and tried to talk to her.
"What am I?"
Her mother put a hand on her shoulder. "You are my adorable daughter. Do you remember your favorite place? Let's go to the garden." She never budged an inch from where she was sitting. Vanessa took her hand and walked her out.
She was pissed off by his silence, it infuriated her as he ignored her.
"How is Charlotte?" She tried to start a conversation as they walked around the mansion.
She shrugged, picked at her fingernails. "She is doing perfectly following your instruction. Mum, do you remember what you told me the other time?" They stopped walking for a while. Vanessa grinned. She knew there was no way to avoid the topic she brought up.
"Of course I do. What do you want to know about them?"
"I saw a wolf last night in the woods. It seems like the wolf was injured." Vanessa blinked severally. Why did she encounter a wolf.
"Did the wolf hurt you?" She asked, examined her body.
"I was so terrified. Not at all, I'm good." Her mother came first in her heart. She had been the only one that understood her in every angle. "I don't really know how it gets there because people live around. I'm just bothered. "
"Any strange experience yet?"
She stared at Vanessa suspiciously. She always asked her that question every time she visited. "What kind of experience to be precise? Strange love, cramps or what exactly?"
"Like something indifferent..."
"Only that I've been having strange dream every night and a strange guy always come to me. Sometime we will sit at the shore and when I look at our reflections... Something isn't right." Neither did she recall the nightmare nor the face. She was concerned and perplexed.
"And what again?"
"We are always together in my dream and there this woman..." She exhaled deeply. "Don't worry mom. It's just a dream."
"Why don't you tell me everything. I'm listening, I'm never getting bored of listening to that sweet voice of yours."
"It's just that I don't know how far the dream is going. The strange experience you're asking is I'm always feeling prick of jealousy every time Kevin ignores me. There is this voice in my head telling him to kill him." She could scarcely control her words.
Vanessa chuckled. The strange experience she was referring to was her wolf. Was she able to communicate with her wolf. She didn't want to be the one that would tell her she was a werewolf. They had to keep it a secret till she was able to communicate with her wolf. She never wanted her to live that way for the rest of her live. One day her mate would find her and need her. Though she had no doubt since Celeste told them it was a matter of time.
"Since you believe in his love then you shouldn't feel that way. Come to think of it, with the feeling, what if he is thinking about you right now?"
"Are you insinuating that I should give him a little more time?"
"If you want to."
In any case, she loved him and that was what she was so afraid of. What if he was trying to breakup with her. She knew she was losing him. It was infuriating, frustrating and heart shattering. Had he found someone better than her?
"If you continue thinking too hard you might get a splitting headache. Let's check the garden." Vanessa interjected her thought.
WHEN THEY GOT back to the pack, Lawrence left Griffin to meet his father. When he walked into his chamber, he was barely engrossed in his reading. Lawrence didn't want to interject his reading so he made a U-turn.
William W. Greenfield, a man of disguise. The man of diverse interest and a keen lust for power. He had to get the power even if it included killing the whole pack. He removed his innocent gaze from the book and put it down on the table before him. Crossed his legs, sitting confidently.
"I thought you don't want me to bother you. " Lawrence said, moving away from the door.
"I look disturbed that's why I'm trying to distract my mind. What is it you have for me this time?"
"Nothing important to discuss about." He walked up to the next couch, he sat down. "Your little plan is going to get Blake killed. What are you going to do about that? If Griffin later finds out that the person that you sent to get the book of justice from the pack house isn't really from Blake's pack house, I'm afraid he wouldn't back off till he finds out the truth. You ought to be thoughtful before making plans and you never said anything to me about it. Blake thought they killed a man of his pack never knew you killed him and switched the bodies. Father, this is getting out of hands."
"The two packs underestimated my power I'm only teaching them a lesson. The plan worked out as I wanted it to. Don't worry, I won't get in your cousin's head."
Lawrence sighed. "I don't care about what you're going to do to him, I only care about myself." He snapped.
He had no title. Everyone addressed him as an elder not Alpha. He was never an Alpha. His elder sister, who happened to be Griffin's mother was a Luna. She married a true Alpha but died few years after she had him. She fell ill and it was a terrible illness that no one in their pack could cure.
Griffin father was alive and healthy than ever. He was a healthy man and would always be for Griffin's sake.
"He caught a glimpse of his mate at the hospital today. I couldn't see her face because she left before we could get closer."
"His mate?" He wouldn't ignore the fact that he was concerned about it.
"I don't know who she is but I'm going to find out later. I think Griffin will be planning to go back to the city, his father will take over until he returns. Father, I will be going with him in order to provide you information of his every move. "
"All right. Be careful and make sure he doesn't find out you're my informat."
A smile of mischief plastered on his face as he watched his father quietly.
He had been the one telling William Griffin's move. Griffin never found out because he trusted him and he had no reason to doubt him. Lawrence had been there for him ever since childhood and he never thought of a reason to doubt of him.
Lawrence had been guarded of his thoughts whenever he was with Griffin. Griffin never noticed and he trusted him with everything he had.
His uncle was ruthless in his criticism. He disguised himself to be the innocent werewolf among elder, nevertheless he was the most dangerous werewolf. What he was after was what Griffin had. Power!
"ARE YOU SURE SHE'S THE ONE?" Norman Whitefield enquired. He sat in his glory looking at his son. Merely looking, one could say he was a young replica of his father. Apart from his grey hair, they had many things in common.
"My wolf is never wrong. Lucky me he wasn't distracted when I was. I didn't seem to notice in time but he did." Griffin complained to his father.
"Are you planning to go look for her?" He nodded apparently.
"Yes dad."
"You can just go ahead but why are you here?" He pouted his lips. His father knew he was going to ask for favour. The authority in his eyes wasn't there anymore, he looked at his father with affections in his eyes.
"I want you to be my Alpha when I'm away." His father chuckled at his statement.
"I'm old for that. You can ask your uncle to do that for you." An unpleasant countenance that put his father in a state of confusion appeared on his face. He shook his head in disagreement.
"I want you to take over because I trust only you and If any important situation that needs to be deal with immediately comes up I will be right here. I won't leave my subjects to suffer when I'm away. You'll be my substitute because you're once their true Alpha. "
"How can I say no that you when you're bribing me with your sweet words. Okay, I give up. Go on and return with your mate." He said, making a hilarious countenance.
"Thank you, father." He muttered.
