"He still hasn't called." Mindy said annoyingly as she checked her phone for the hundredth time in order to confirm that she hadn't missed any call.
"He will." Alisha said.
"But I'm already going. How are you going to answer him when he calls? You don't have a phone with you right now."
"Don't worry Mindy. He will know how to get in touch with me."
"Okay." Mindy said as she opened the door. She was going back to her own house "We will talk tomorrow morning, or aren't you coming to school tomorrow?"
Alisha sighed "I don't know. I will think about it overnight."
"Okay. Bye. Take good care of yourself. I will call you through your mom's phone later in the evening."
"Alright. I will be expecting your call." Alisha replied and waved at her friend as she drove off.
Thirty minutes later, someone rang the bell and Alisha hurriedly opened the door with the hope that it was Kelvin but to her surprise, it was a very young boy who smiled at her before handling her a letter.
"Someone said that I should give this to you." he said.
"Okay. Thank you." Alisha replied as she was handed the letter.
Alisha watched the boy as he ran off before opening the letter.
'You know where to find me baby' was what was written on the letter and for some unknown reasons, Alisha blushed. She imagined how Kelvin had held the pen as he wrote this to her and slowly put the letter on her chest. The word baby echoed in her brain for some minutes before she told herself not to think too much about the letter.
Everything is a game. She thought, locked the door and saw his car neatly packed at the side of the road. She slowly walked towards him with his letter still in her hand and smiled at him as he wind down the glass and gestured to her to walk to the other side of the car.
"Hey girlfriend." he said with his beautiful smile on his face as Alisha sat down in the passenger's seat.
"Hey, good afternoon." Alisha said back
"Hey good afternoon." Kelvin mimicked "Say something romantic or...cute. like hey bae, hey honey bunny, hey sugar candy, hey..."
"Hey babe" Alisha said and cut him off.
"Bae" he corrected "Not babe. I think bae is cuter than babe, or what do you think?"
"Okay. Hey bae."
"I'm fine. How are you doing?"
"Better I guess. My friend just left some minutes ago."
"Mindy right?"
"Yeah. Mindy."
"Since when have you guys been friends?" He asked.
"Since seventh grade."
"Wow." Kelvin said amazingly.
"Yeah wow. I and her and...Piaf" she added the last part slowly.
"That girl." it wasn't a question but an understatement.
"Yeah." tears threatened to roll down her eyes but she fought it back.
Kelvin turned sideways, in her direction and said "Alisha, if you want people to believe that we are actually dating, you have to start getting use to hearing Piaf and Zhang's names and meeting them without giving them the reaction that they are expecting from you."
"I'm trying."
"This is not a matter of you trying, it's a matter of you putting it into your actions."
"Okay."
"First of all, you need a phone. Nobody is going to believe that you're my girlfriend without you having a phone with you. And I'm going to be giving you this new one since you lost yours on that day" he said as he picked a small bag from the back seat and handed it to Alisha. Who checked out what was inside. It was the latest iPhone.
"Thank you but you don't have to do this. I've been planning to get myself a new phone. I was just waiting for the right time."
"Why are you turning this down? Don't you like it? I can get you a new one if you don't like it."
"It's not because I don't like it. It's because I don't think that you should be buying me things since we're not in a...real relationship."
"You collecting things from me is one of the things that is going to make people believe that we're in a relationship. Because a lot of my friends won't believe it if I tell them that I'm now in a relationship."
"Why?" Alisha found herself asking.
"Because..." Kelvin trailed off.
Actually, Alisha knew the reason why none of his friends wouldn't believe that he was in a relationship but she had wanted him to say it.
"I don't know." Kelvin lied.
Of course, you know. Alisha thought as she looked at Kelvin's handsome face.
According to the internet, Kelvin McSmith was one of those guys that weren't interested in a relationship. A lot of girls from rich families had tried their best to make him be in a relationship with them and had failed woefully. Apart from Kim Yoon-hye, a girl whom he grew up with. They had dated for six months, but still the relationship had ended the same way the others had. But shockingly, unlike his other relationships the reason why their relationship ended that way was still a mystery to the whole world.
"Let's talk about something else." Kelvin voice broke into Alisha's thought.
"Like what?" She asked.
"Like your dressing" he replied "I went through your Facebook page last night and I was like" he puffed "I mean you're dressing like a ten-year-old even though you're seventeen."
"I love how I dress."
"Of course, I know you do but if you really want people to believe that I'm dating you, you have to dress your age and that is the reason why I bought you some clothes and shoes on my way here."
He picked up some bags from the back seat and gave them to her.
"I will be expecting you to be putting one of these on tomorrow morning."
Alisha scoffed "it's not as if you will know if I didn't put it on."
"I have eyes everywhere." he said cockily. "I promise you that I will know. And the last but not the least, you have to be in school tomorrow."
"That...that I can't assure you."
"If you truly want this whole thing to work out, you have to be in school tomorrow."
"I will think about it."
"Call me once you have make up your mind. My number is already on your phone" he winked "Just press one."
"Okay."
"Okay then, we will talk later."
"Alright."
