Chapter Five

"We're here." The car stopped in front of Lucy's house. She saw her father come out to open the wooden gate for them. David entered the car in their small yard. She noticed a red Jaguar parked in their yard. They didn't have a car, so she knew it wasn't theirs. She also did not know anyone who had such a fancy car to visit them.

She hurriedly got out of the car when it stopped. She felt suffocated inside the car with David. Her hands tremble in fear.

Lucy fixed herself when her father walked towards her. She kissed her father's cheek and greeted him. "Do you have a visitor?" she asked, hoping that her father wouldn't notice her trembling voice.

"Oh, your soon-to-be in laws is inside our house, Lucy," her father replied with a smile.

She frowned at what his father said, but before she could ask again, she felt David's hand encircling her waist. She stiffened at their body contact.

"Good evening," David greeted her father. He was close to her father because he'd often been in their home since they were children. David's father owns the company where her father works.

"Good evening," her father replied, patting David on the shoulder. "I didn't expect you to be together. I thought it was Martin-- what happened to you and Martin, Lucy? Oh, well let it go and if you're happy with David, I'm happy too," her father said tearfully and then hugged her tightly. For sure, her father was shocked at what the thing turned into. She has had a relationship with Martin for years, though.

"Dad..." she can only say. She couldn't tell her father about her situation, even if she wanted to. She felt David's arm tigthened on her waist. She looked at him, David looked at her too, with a warning in his eyes. His eyes look at her intently, as if saying that if she says anything against him, she will be sorry.

She just bowed and zipped her mouth. He's like warning him not to object. She was swallowed. Although she wanted to contradict what his father was saying, she could not because of the threat that David had told her three weeks ago.

She was afraid he would make the threat real. She looked at her father, who turned to David. There was a smile on his lips, obvious that her father liked David. If her father only knew what kind of person he was, would her father allow her to marry him?

Definitely not. He would probably kill David and her father would go to prison after that. Or sued David for what he did to her. But even if they win, how can she be sure that David will not sue his father either? Her father will also be imprisoned. She has no choice.

"Let's go inside," said her father and went inside the house first.

She stopped David from following her father. "What did you say to dad?" she whispered angrily.

"What should he know," she ignored his answer and mumbled more.

"What did you say?" She wanted to cry at the tension of it.

"Tsk... I said we've been understanding for a long time and we're getting married because I suspect you're pregnant. They're already inside-"

"P-pregnant?"

He grinned. His hand went up and caressed her sunken stomach. "That's not surprising," he said, his eyes twinkling as if he were dreaming. He bent down and kissed her belly. She was shocked by what he did, so she didn't move immediately.

When she recovered, she would have answered but Donya Matilde, David's mother, came out of the door. She looked sharp staring at her. The Madame is so elegant in her expensive dress that covers her body that even though she is old, she is still very beautiful. Her jewelry is so shiny that she thinks she can't buy it even if she saves for the rest of her life. Their house looked like garbage because of the Madame. It was very awkward in their simple residence.

"Mom," David greeted her and kissed his mother's cheek.

"Good evening, Madame," she greeted her with a bow. 'She can't meet her critical gaze. She even remembers when David once took her to their mansion when she was only twelve years old to show the dog that his daddy had bought. There she first faced David's mother. She slapped her when she saw that her shoes were dirty. because she accidentally stepped on the carpet in the living room. Donya Matilde also told her to stay away from her son because she was a beggar.

She came home crying that day, feeling sorry for herself. So she wonders how David was able to get her mother to come here.

Donya Matilde ignored her. She just nodded and turned around to enter their house.

She looked at David. He grabbed her arm and pulled her inside. It was as if her nervousness had doubled.

They caught up with their daddy and mommy, who were sitting on their sofa. David's father, Don Arturo, smiled at her. He looks very much like David and he's just like David's older brother. Elegant and handsome. Opposite them were her grandmother and her father, who were obviously uncomfortable with the guests.

"G-good afternoon, Don Arturo," she greeted the Don.

"Good evening, Grandma." She approached her grandmother and kissed her on the cheek.

"Daddy. Call me Daddy, Lucy. After all, in one week you will be part of the family, " Don said happily.

"O-one w-week?!" She couldn't stop raising her voice because of what the Don said. The don's forehead wrinkled. David walked over to her and squeezed her shoulder.

"Didn't we already talk about getting married soon?" There was a threat in his eyes when he glanced at her. "We're getting married one week from now, Lucy," was not a statement but a command, and she knew she could do nothing but follow it. So she just bowed her head and never said anything.
