Chapter 8 Finally In The Big Leagues

Tara's POV

After a week of absence, Tyler finally returned to school. We hadn't seen Jackson all week either which suited me fine. However, I knew that since Tyler was coming back, he too would be back.

I was sitting in class all alone as Shin Oh was sick.

The teacher was away for the first hour, so I put on my earbuds to mute the noise in the classroom and began to scribble on a piece of paper.

I was so absorbed by the music I was listening that I didn't hear the chair next to me move.

It wasn't until the teacher for the next class arrived that I finally looked up from my scribble. At that moment, I saw that there was someone sitting next to me, sleeping on the desk.

Just seeing his silky black hair and the tattoos on his arm, I knew right away it was Tyler.

I got up suddenly and leaned as much as I could against the window. I was completely terrified.

'Is he serious?' I wondered.

"Miss Stones, the class is about to start. Sit down!" The teacher motioned for me to sit.

Tyler turned to me with his glassy, soulless green eyes.

I sat down and pushed my chair as close to the window as possible, without looking at him.

As I put my cell phone and earbuds away to follow the lesson, Tyler suddenly put his hand on mine. I remove it at once, as if an electric shock had just passed through me.

He casually took my earbuds and put in his ears while closing his eyes.

What the hell was he doing?

Throughout the class, he had my earbuds in his ears and put his hand on my mobile phone, as if to prevent me from taking it.

I kept glancing furtively at him.

'What could have happened to him for his eyes to be so glassy?' I wondered.

At the end of the class, everyone was talking as they left the class. I saw Evan give me an annoyed look as he left too.

Tyler and I were the only two left in the classroom, and I was wondering how I would get my mobile phone back. There was no way I would go without my phone.

Tyler was deeply asleep. He had a heartbreaking sad look on his face.

Once again, I reached out my hand towards his face to grab his strand of hair which hung over his face. However, I quickly changed my mind. There was no way I would give in to this moron.

Biting my lip, I tried to sneak my cell phone out of Tyler's grip. While I crossed my fingers hoping that he wouldn't wake up in the process, I received a text message.

"Damn it," I murmured.

Tyler woke up and looked at my cell phone screen. Then he sat up casually.

"Your code..." His voice was low and sleepy.

I didn't answer him.

What did he want to do with my mobile phone?

He turned to me half asleep, his green eyes still glassy.

"Your code!" He insisted.

I hesitated for a second and looked at him. He didn't seem aggressive, so I decided I'd better not provoke him.

In a whisper, I gave him the code, "080801." With the same casual attitude, he inserted the code and unlocked my phone.

I was intrigued as to what he was going to do when I suddenly heard his chair squeal.

"Take it!"

Tyler handed me my cell phone. His eyes were even more expressionless now.

I took the phone hesitantly.

"Your boyfriend sent you a message," he whispered. And without another word, he walked out of the classroom.

I looked at the door when he left. All this did not bode well.

I looked at my mobile phone, wondering what the hell he could have done with it, when I saw in my contact list the name "Tyler."

He had just added his number to my contacts, as if there was any chance that I would call him. He was definitely crazy!

I closed the contact list and checked my mailbox. I had a message from Dylan.

[We're waiting for you. Are you planning on staying at school today?]

I hesitated. I thought it was better that I stayed in class for a while. Dylan would see right away that something was wrong

What was more, Dylan must have seen Tyler in the yard, so he wouldn't worry about me.

[I am finishing a little exercise. See you at noon.]

Tyler's POV

When we got back to class, I went straight to the back of the classroom to sit with Evan.

After this crazy week, I really needed to calm down, and I knew that with Evan, I would be able to recharge my batteries for a moment.

Since what happened with that bitch, and the guy I shot, I hadn't had a moment's rest.

My father came back to the villa the next day and told me to take responsibility for this matter. It turned out that this man I shot was part of a rival gang. For my father, it was time I stopped doing the little cushy jobs.

We had therefore revamped our gang. The first thing we did was to find a fitting name for it. It was The Serpents, in tribute to my mother who loved everything that had to do with snakes.

We went to Miami to stock up on weapons because all we had were a few small arms.

I had officially entered the big leagues as my father would say.

My mom went crazy when she found out that I was really following in my dad's footsteps. We had to put her in the hospital for two days for her to calm down.

I was sure Bryan had something to do with it, but I hadn't seen him since our conversation at the bar.

Jackson had decided to drop out from school and devote himself to the gang. As for Evan, he preferred to stay away from all that. His father having died six years ago at the hands of a rival gang. He preferred to stay away from that and take care of his mom.

The day passed quite quickly. At closing time, I walked straight to my motorbike. I took out a cigarette and lit it while watching Tara, who was waiting for Dylan and the others near the car.

Her blue eyes looked at me for a moment. I held her gaze and kept my face straight, showing no reaction. When I heard Dylan's voice, I put my helmet on and drove off.
