Chapter 5 Divorce

After reading the letter Leo picks up her phone and dias Kunle's number. Luckily for her, Kunle answers her call after several days of failed attempt.

"Hello, Kunle, what is the meaning of this rubbish you sent? Leo said in anger.

" Leo, what rubbish? You mean the letter? I am sorry you had to find out about my departure this way" Kunle said over the phone with a cool tone.

"Oh, so you know it is wrong abi. Kunle you betrayed me and you left me and your son all alone for days without even calling to settle the situation on ground or to even check up on your son since i am not of importance to you as you find pleasure in making me miserable" Leo ranted

" Leo, i know i made a mistake but please let's not dwell on it too much, i have so much to deal with on my plate since my arrival here, my greetings and love to my son, i will be checking on you guys time to time " Kunle said and hangs the call.

Leo couldn't believe that Kunle actually left the country without letting her know even after hurting her so much,he just decided to leave the country and settle her with a stupid sum of 5 million naira as maintenance allowance. She felt like a used tissue which was tossed away after it's purpose. She felt Kunle never even for once loved her, well to think of it, he had only proposed to her after finding out she was pregnant while they were still dating, it seems like he just married her to take responsibility of the child that she later lost due to miscarriage.

Leo sat on the chair with a lot on her mind, she didn't know how she is going to survive as a single mother to Ayomide who is definitely going to need the presence of a father figure. The fact that she might soon resolved to begging to feed herself also played in her mind because she had this strong feeling that Kunle wasn't going to send them any money again and if he eventually does, it is sure going to be in a very long time. She had this feeling this 5 million was like Kunle paying her off.

She continued wallowing in her thought for hours until a message popped on the screen of her phone which brought her back to reality. She picked up her phone and saw a message from her network provider telling her to link her national identification number ( NIN) to her number. She disregards the message as it had turned to a daily routine of her network provider. Fortunately, the message brought her to her senses back as she stopped sulking over the milk that has been spilt. She goes inside her room, brings out a book and pen from the drawer by the bed, sits at the chair in front of her dressing table and starts to scribble some figures on the paper...

3 months later

Months went by, Leo seems to have accepted the fact that she is now a single mother to an 8 year old boy, the thing is that, she is still legally married to Kunle which makes her a single married mother as she termed it.

Her relationship with her twin was still on the very bitter side as she refused speaking to her or seeing her unless they had family occasions in which they had to pretend to be on good terms so as not to raise any suspicion from the family members.

Leo had decided to use a million out of the 5 million given to her by Kunle to start up a business, a small eatery to be precise, she had always been known to be a good cook and she had brought up the eatery idea to Kunle during a mid night convo in which he objected without a good reason.

Her business "Leo's Pot" was doing quite well as she had made a great impression on her customers within the one month since the eatery started. She had rented an empty shop opposite her building to open the eatery, she didn't want to stress herself as she couldn't risk having a major crises at this point of her life.

Kunle on the other hand had kept to his promise as he called every week but he only called through Ayo as Ayo had a small tablet he was using in which he had bought for him as a birthday present. He spoke to Leo only when he wanted to ask of Ayo's well being. He had seemed to put her as of no importance. Leo had already gotten used to it as she was beginning to go back to her happy and beautiful Leo.

Of a truth, being alone took her a toll on Leo as she needed the touch of a man but she had to brush it off whenever she felt that way because she swore not to stoop low as Kunle so as to be a good example to Ayo in whom she had started to teach him of the importance to treat females with respect. Ayo became her best friend as she had never kept friends on the orders of Kunle. She told Ayo almost everything and being a smart boy that he is, he started to get use to the fact that his father isn't going to be back soon so he decided to make his mom happy at all times.

As if the devil was always on her case, Leo receives a package on a sunday evening as that was her own personal off day. She guessed right that the package was from Kunle but she got the biggest shock of her life when she sees a divorce document in which Kunle had issued against her. This was what broke her completely......
