Chapter 4 Depression

Leo continue to stare into the television as she sat on the sofa in the living room, the scene she saw about 2 hours ago continued to play in her thought. She had ran out of anger and pain when she saw her own blood sister, her twin and her husband having sex in Wunmi's living room, she ran into her car with her feelings shattered, she turned on the ignition and zoomed off from Wunmi's compound.

She got home and luckily for her, Ayomide wasn't back from school, she tried to put herself in denial as she couldn't believe her twin could hurt her so badly, she turned on the television with the aim of wanting to get her mind off the scene she witnessed, luckily for her, her best show was being aired, she increased the volume to the highest, glued her eyes on the screen. But the show didn't seem to be helping her as her mind continued to play out the event. She started to cry bitterly as she couldn't deceive herself anymore, she wept bitterly to a point she started to feel her heart clinging in her chest, she had always been the weak twin as she constantly battles with her health due to the hole discovered in her heart years ago, she wept bitterly for the next 60 minutes and when she seemed to stop wailing, she feel into a deep thought which could be misinterpreted as shock, she continued to picture Wunmi and Kunle in her head until the loud tone that came from her phone, the tone pulled her back to reality, she picks up her phone and sees "Mrs Stevens" as the caller id. Then it dawned on her that she had totally forgotten about her son Ayomide

Mrs Stevens happens to be Ayomide class teacher whom starts to get worried when she notices Ayomide in school after 40 minutes since they closed for the day, it was unlike Mrs Adegoke (Leo) to be this late when it comes to picking up Ayo. She decides to call his mom and after several trials , Mrs Adegoke finally answered the call.

"Good day ma" Mrs Stevens said with a respectful tone over the phone. "Good afternoon Mrs Stevens, I am very sorry ma, i am on my way, i got stuck in traffic" Leo replied after clearing her coarse throat. "Ok, no problem, i was just worried, drive carefully ma, i will wait till you arrive" Mrs Stevens said. " Ok, thank you so much ma" Leo replied, she stands up immediately, goes inside to freshen up and change her outfit as her previous outfit had been soaked in tears and sweat. She rushed back outside after 5 minutes, tried to comport herself and leaves the house for Ayo's school. Ayomide was her life so she didn't want Kunle's stupidity to come in the way of her child's wellbeing.

3 days later

It's been three days after the incident, Kunle was no where to be found, Leo called him several times but he ignored her calls all the time. She had cooked up a lie which fed her son when he continued to ask of his father, Ayo was indeed very fond of his father, Leo had told him Daddy went for a business trip and would be back soon and when the little boy asked why he wasn't picking their calls, she told him another lie that the place he travelled to was bound to be out of service. She really hated herself for trying to defend Kunle, her anger intensified with the fact that she had been the one calling him instead of the other way round in the sense of him wanting to seek her forgiveness, she started to blame herself as been stupid for trying to call him. She tried to put on a brave face for the sake of Ayo's happiness but she seemed to always cry out her eyes whenever she was home alone.

On the fifth day after the incident, Leo gets an unexpected visitor. Wunmi her twin had come to see her. "what do you want here?" Leo asked with so much anger and hate in her voice as she sees the almost identical face of hers which happens to be that of her twin sis after opening the door to see who was at the door. "Can we talk sis?" Wunmi said with so much guilt in her voice. Talk about what? How you tried to steal my husband? Or how you and my husband had so much fun fucking yourselves, no tell me, what do you want to say to justify your actions" Leo said as she raised her voice in anger. " I am so sorry Tolani, i know i made a big mistake, you know i had feelings for Kunle before you met him, i thought i was over him not until 2 years ago, i am truly sorry sis" Wunmi said while crying. " 2 years? So you have been deceiving me for two years? So because you guys had a thing before, does it justify your stupid actions, i remembered asking you if you were ok with me dating Kunle before i accepted his proposal that year, why would you do this to me, me, your twin, your better half" Leo said as she starts to tear up. The two sisters are in so much pains, Leo couldn't stand the face of Wunmi which prompted her to shutting the door at her face. She sat down at the entrance and began to cry out her eyes.

Days turned into weeks yet Kunle was still no where to be found. It had been a challenge for her constantly lying to her son about the whereabouts of Kunle, she made sure to keep him happy at any cost. She slowly began to return to her old self until she receives a letter one sunny afternoon. The letter was from Kunle, she had been happy to finally hear from Kunle but she soon got to know that Kunle was not in the country anymore," i left the country to go and find greener pastures" the letter read according to Kunle. Tears starts to build up in her eyes as she sees a check of 5 million naira cheque attached to the letter which was for their upkeep according to Kunle in the letter. The fact that Kunle didn't mention anything about his infidelity to her drived her nuts....
