Chapter 5 Who am I

"Come-on Isabel, say something." Mr. Andrew tried breaking the awkward silence that had engulfed the room.

"Say something!" She fired back as she aggressively stood up. "Do you really take me this stupid, that you would make up stories about mom. All because of her!" She gestured at Sophia.

"Isabel listen to me, I am not lying!" He stood up, walked over to stand in front of her. "You my sugar plum I would never lie to you on such a delicate matter."

"Are you kidding me!" She chuckled. "You would never lie to me, after just telling me a bullshit story about witches, vampires.... And magic!"

He sighed, stretched his hand to a glass cup on top of the dining table. "Huc trahendum!" He muttered underneath his breath, and the cup flew over to his hand, like a magnet had pulled it over.

"Jesus!" Isabel gasped, taking a step back from her father. "See I am not lying, everything I told you is true.." He stretched the cup to her. But him proving everything was true, was even more worse for Her.

"N-No...." A few drops of tears left her eyes.

"Isabel I'm sorry for lying, but now you see that I did everything for you.."

"No!" She yelled, gesturing with both hands. "You do not get to say that, what happened to Lara, my mother, after she was caught?"

"She was captured and judged by the council." He turned his face down to the floor avoiding eye contact.

"Then what happened!"

He took a deep breath and lifted his head up to stare at her directly in the face. "The council killed her."

Hot tears began to fall from Isabel's eyes. "So you're saying you're not my father."

"I may not be your biological father, but as far as I'm concerned, I am your father. I raised and loved you, no matter what your last name is, you are my daughter."

"After my biological father fell from the cliff, what happened to him?" She wiped the tears off her face.

"He went into hiding for months making everyone believe he was dead. But when he heard of your birth, he came after you. Wanting to capture you and teach you chaos magic, so you would end up just like him. That was the major reason we kept on moving, in order to keep you from his evil grip."

"But you don't know that, maybe he just wanted his daughter."

"You don't understand, you still think there's good in him, but believe me there isn't. Isabel you are the most powerful witch to have ever existed, from the bloodline of both Amethyst Achak and Zarel Namer. Your chaos magic is ten times stronger than his, and any that came before you. This is why he wanted you, not because he loves you."

He took a step closer to Isabel, slowly held her hand, giving her some feeling of comfort. "Trust me, it doesn't matter, Isabel, you are still my daughter."

She held his hand tightly for a few seconds, before moving back, pulling her hand from him.

He exhaled. "So now, you know everything. I didn't move us across the world for work, but for your protection. If the council were to find you they wouldn't hesitate to kill you, while your biological father would use you. This is why we need to go."

She hastily turned back to him. "Go? what do you mean go? Do you mean we need to move again?"

"Yes, what happened in Nomay today will draw magical attention to this town, and we best not be here when they come."

"No... we can't, I can't...I was just starting to feel at home. You can't just-" She paused and stared straight into his eyes. "What happened today?"

"Isabel, what do you remember?"

"I was having headaches and a hard time so I went to the ladies room to clear my head....then...."

"You caused a magical earthquake in Nomay, one that would normally require twenty of the most powerful witches or wizards to cast."

"Oh my God?" She slowly held her head with both hands as she walked back to sit down. "Was anyone hurt? oh my God-Did I kill anyone? I thought my mother casted a spell that would stop my magical Powers?"

"That's exactly the problem." Sophia finally spoke after being quiet for so long. She continued, "What you experienced today was a magical panic attack, all the years of your magic being blocked just faced you all at once."

"What?" Isabel was dumbfounded.

"Listen, normally when a magical blockage spell is casted on someone at birth, it lasts forever. Yours was estimated by me to last till your eighteenth birthday, but I was wrong. Your powers being too strong, forced itself to manifest a day before suggested it would."

"So you're saying that the blockage spell is broken?"

"Well.. No, not quite the spell would be broken at midnight when you complete eighteen. For now I suggest you and your father leave Nomay tonight-"

"No, I can't!" She cut her short. "There must be another way, I can't leave not now. What about Julia, what about my life here, I just can't. Can't we fight back?"

"Fight back?" Mr. Andrew cut in. "No, we can't. We can't fight against the council. How is Sophia, me and you, a witch who but a few minutes ago didn't know about her powers, going to fight dozens of witches and wizards or worse stop your father from taking you."

Tears ran down Isabel's checks once more as she sobbed. "You don't understand me, you never do, I can't say goodbye all over again."

"She saw you Isabel, Julia, she saw you When your powers were manifesting. She will probably never talk to you again even if we stay."

"No, you don't know that." She fired back. "Don't you dare say that about the only true friend I have ever had!" She stood up and walked over to the front door.

"Wait, Isabel, where are you doing?"

"I can't say goodbye, not now, l am just starting to love this town." She opened the door and walked out.

"Isabel! Isabel! Come back here now." He yelled but she ignored him. He took a step forward, going after her but Sophia walked in front of him, with her hands folded on her chest.

"She has just learnt her mother was killed, she's a witch and her father isn't her biological father but her uncle. Give her a break. Let her get some fresh air, she will be back."

"She better be, it's already 7:05 pm and we need to be leaving at 10:30pm, before the spell breaks."

"Trust me she'll be back, just go pack up and let her clear her head. I'll help you pack up."

"I can't ask that of you."

"Good thing you are not asking, I'm offering. Now let's go upstairs and start packing."

Mr Andrew stared at her for a few seconds "Fine...." He sighed and they both went up stairs to start packing.
