Chapter 4 Think beyond the sacrifices

Now that Friezzie had to leave home for her higher studies and her father just recovered from his stroke. She was in a dilemma. She knew that it would be difficult for her to leave her father with a family who loves only money and not her own dad. She wanted to support her dad financially and therefore, she knew the fact that in order to have a better financial future, she would have to sacrifice her duties for a few years and get a decent job to support her family.

Her father is indeed one of the richest businessman in the city but with his health issues, he had to sell his business away to another rival company. There was no regret though as the family had enough commercial buildings and apartments to stay financially secure. However, unlike other brothers and sisters of her father, he was adamant of having something of his own apart from the ancestral riches. Though it was only a shortlived achievement in his life, he is happy that Friezzie gree up to be like him.

She was not like her sisters who dependent on money. She dreamt of becoming a successful woman with her own abilities and capabilities. The society may not accept the fact that a rich girl like her would work in an organisation like a servant to some boss (as society people designated), she didn't care much about human beings. She was an animal lover but she was not a fan of human beings. Her sisters also teased her as having manly hands because they were not soft. They had callus mainly because of her insistent practice of Taekwondo. She loved being strong and show off her Taekwondo skills. She was also good at rotating a stick around her wrist like a sword.

She does not remember where she learnt it but she remembers a man teaching her whom she assumed to be her father's friend. Her father is a former footballer of a prestigious club in the city. The club players comprised of players of different countries including Nepal, Malaysia and China. Her father since she was a small child encouraged her to learn boxing just for fun and even helped her learn a few self defense skills. She remembers her father telling her always "when you grow up, you should know that you will have to become a strong sportsperson." These words echoed in her ears whenever she thought what to do with her life and how to achieve her dad's dream.

'Clap clap' dissolved in her thoughts, she came back to her senses when Abby clapped her hands close to her ears. It woke her up from her thoughtful world. "Abby, ehat are you doing here?" She frowned. "If you can jump from one building to anothet to reach my home, I can at least walk across the pavement, climb the stairs of your home and enter the room right." Abby replied confidently.

She gave a smile to her and gestured her to sit next to her. She explained what she was thinking about and finally said that she would study in her hometown for two more years and then fly to another city for her graduation.

Abby's face brightened and screamed so loud that her father came rushing thinking her Friezzie was in trouble of some kind. Seeing Abby he said "Why on earth any girl would scream in her friend's house like this. I thought some thief must have entered. Damn you girls are crazy." Her father kept his hand on his waist and waited for an apology. Abby said "I am sorry dear uncle. I didn't mean to scare you. This will not happen again."

"Aww...It is alright. Go grab some snacks from the refrigerator. You will love them." He turned his back and went back to his study table to continue working on his property work. Friezzie just smiled and felt glad that her dad has recovered so quickly. For the next two hours, both the girls sat in front of the laptop to check for schools offering admissions. They were checking for the syllabus, location and tried to confirm the nearest school to their homes. Abby and Friezzie lived closeby. They didn't wanted to travel so far as they had to come back and go for taekwondo and yoga classes respectively. They were already late in doing the admissions and now they're left with only two options. She didn't mind joining the school that her dad recommended as long as Abby accompanied her. With Abby, she would still feel at ease.

Abby interrupted her thoughts and said "you know I won't be able to join the school your father has shortlisted. The subject that I want to study is not offered in your school. I am afraid that we will end up being in different schools this time." Friezzie was aware of this fact and it did not surprise her at all. She gave a satisfied smile and replied, "I know you already and I know uncle has chosen a school for you already. I am happy that you spoke about it and I am not surprised at all." She further added, "Even though we will be in different schools, we live close by. We can meet wherever we want and now that we are getting our personal cell phones, I think we can text each other all the time."

Abby's face brightened and looked at Friezzie with an angry look "I don't mind texting you but I hope I find a boyfriend soon. Otherwise it's a waste having a cell phone. I will just be bored texting you."

Hearing this, Friezzie narrowed her eyes. Abby knew what was coming her way. Friezzie held her palm into a fist and while she was about to hit Abby, she managed to escape from her room. She ran behind her but could not catch her. She looked back and spoke loudly, "You will remain as my dangerous tomboy friend always. See you later."
