Chapter 4 Caught between a rock and a hard place

Jerry thought about everything, with the money he could buy a lot of things, he could add it to his mother's business. He remembered that saying, 'Opportunity comes but once'. What he was confused about was why she chose him? They were lots of cute and rich guys, why didn't she chose them?. Even if he didn't want to accept, she was still gonna blackmail him because her dad own the company.

Being smart, Jerry knew he could make money from this. "How about 20,000 dollars" He knew Elena was damn rich, so the money wasn't a big deal.

'If twenty thousands dollars should be withdrawn from my account, then dad would be curious about what I used the money for. But I have to do this, the money is nothing' She thought to herself and smiled at Jerry.

"Okay. 20,000 dollars it is...Let's meet at my house later in the day, we'd get ready from there" She said to him. "Just your number, so I can reach you, and also text you the address".

"Um...The thing is-is um, i don't have a phone. Just write the address in a piece of paper, I will show up" He felt embarrassed saying it.

"You don't have a phone?" Elena tried her best not to chuckle, but she couldn't. "Tell me your address, I will send someone to come pick you".

"No!" Jerry quickly rejected, he knew that his parents would question him to death if a car comes to pick him up. "The first plan is better".

"Where can we get a sheet of paper from? I don't want to ask Westley....You know what, i will type the address in this phone, and then you can have it".

"But how?" He didn't understand what she was talking about.

Elena didn't immediately reply, she typed something using her phone, and then gave Jerry the phone.

"Take it. The address is there already".

"i-i can't accept it. This is your phone, what if someone calls you? I can't take it" He declined the offer.

Elena sighed in frustration. "Look, no one calls this line, it's just for irrelevant purposes. And besides, you can return it after the business party".

Giving that kind of expensive phone to him, was one of the ways Elena was using to text Jerry's honesty.

"Thank you" Without waiting for her to say anymore words, he took the phone and walked out of the car.

When Jerry arrived home, he saw Lillian waiting for him outside the house. He smiled and walked up to her. "You didn't have to stress yourself by waiting for me".

Lillian scoffed immediately. "Really? Since you've started this job we haven't been spending time with each other. Babe, you are now treating the job as your girlfriend" She lamented.

"Am so sorry. You know I love you more than anything.... Listen, the job is just for a while, I will quit soon once i've gathered much" His explanation was short, he wasn't a chatter box.

"Oh, i went too far, didn't I?... I am sorry, it's just that i missed you so much. You don't have to quit because of me, i understand everything" Lilian started regretting why complaining about the job.

"Thank you. Girls like you are rare. Thank you so much" He flashed her a smile and planted a soft kiss on her lips.

"We had a deal, do not use the 'thank you' words.... So, there's this place around here, where we can eat and spend some time together. Go get ready, I will wait for you" She informed. She noticed Jerry's sad and confused face, then quickly added "Don't worry, treat on me".

At that moment Jerry felt he was caught between a rock and a hard place. He had a date with Elena that same day, how was he gonna handle Lillian?

He thought of an excuse, but nothing came. "Well-i-Aria said-she said....." He couldn't even put a sentence together.

Lilian was about to say something, but stopped when she heard the ringing of a phone - iPhone. It was coming from Jerry's pocket.

Her eyes widened in shock. Where did Jerry get a phone from? He didn't have money to buy any.

"A phone is ringing from your pocket. Jerry, how did you manage to buy a phone?" She was too curious.

Jerry felt his throat went dry. Elena had told him that no one would call, why was the phone ringing?.

"Jerry?" Lillian had been calling him, but he was too lost in thought. She dipped her hand in his pocket, and brought out the phone that was ringing.

The number that was calling was saved with 'My other line".

What confused Lillian was that the phone was the latest iPhone. Where would Jerry get that kind of amount from?.

"Explain" It was only a word, but it made Jerry frightened. Seeing that Jerry wasn't saying anything, Lillian picked the call, and then placed the phone on her ear, waiting for the caller to speak.
