Chapter 10 Almost killed

In a flash, the hunter or who ever he calls himself pinned Cathy to the wall with a smirk. 'Does hunters have superpower?' I mindlink Cathy. She look surprised at first that i was able to mindlink her. 'They had a witch help them in magic. They're not ordinary humans.' Cathy turned him around and pinned him to the wall with a smirk. "You're one of those who captured my twin." She pushed him harder that he choked out blood. She had his eyes fixed on him but was killing him inside, she was cutting him inside gradually and that made him cough out blood. This power was only for the royals.

Could it be she was a princess?, the siren princess?.

Cathy released him and shifted a feet away from him. Her eyes turned pitch black. "I should kill you now, but there is more of you running over here, i smell hunters."

"What you did to my twin, you'll pay." She said and the next i saw myself with her in a strange place. Her eyes were flickering from black to blue, she was trying to control herself. "I could had left you behind, but didn't want you killed. Now, tell me who exactly are you?."

"I'm human."

"Oh shut up!. No human could do the things you do, are you one of them?" Her eyes suddenly with darkened about to attack me.

"What?. Hell no. I didn't know about hunters till now." She turned around from me. "You have the powers of a mermaid, i wouldn't say you're a hunter though you smell human. I cannot erase your mind. Your powers are blocking me."

"I don't have powers." I told her. "You know you have. Mermaids lie a lot." She turned back, her eyes now back to normal, not blue not black. She scrunch her face in disgust. "You're one of us." I told her but realizing what i just said. I just told someone that I'm a mermaid. "Haha. I am siren, i don't wish to become a mermaid."

"We're all mermaids." I continued. "Shut up

Listen, i don't want to admit i just saved a mermaid," She grabbed my arm."You will not say a word of this to anyone, or.." She pushed me away and smirked. "Go on. Leave me alone."

I walk into the sitting room and sat down on a sofa. This is hilarious, i didn't know there were mermaids and their hunters and a witch even. What more can i say?. I'm surrounded with supernaturals all my life and i had never for once met one not until today, in a very compromising way. And now, if i want to stay away, i would be on my way to Burundi. Because this place isn't safe. "Eloise." Mom calls walking down the stairs. I look up at her with an awkward smile.

"What's wrong?. Why are you back so soon?"

"Nothing." I told her and stood up to leave, on a second thought, I sat back on the sofa. "Mom, i want to go back to Burundi." I announced. She looked up instantly. "Why?" She asked.

"I just..just want to go."

"Look, Eloise. If you don't tell me what's going on right now, how am i suppose to help you?." I look down apprehensively. "Eloise." Mom calls me. "I met a siren at school and a mermaid hunter." There was silence.

I felt warm hands on mine and i look up at mom. She look into my eyes worriedly. "First thing tomorrow, you're going back to your hometown."

A sound suddenly woke me up, i look around and put on the incandescent lamp beside my bed. Another sound made me sprang out of my bed. I took a torch and walked downstairs, flickering my touch at any position of the house, I opened the entrance door and closed it, quietly making my way out of the gate. The night was quiet and dark, i didn't hear any noise and i cursed myself for ever thinking something was wrong. Damn, am i hallucinating?. I turned my back to go inside, suddenly a hand dragged me and pushed me on the floor. I was about getting up but a blow landed on my face, it kicked me and i fell right on the hard floor. I winced and coughed out blood.

A figure came closer to my body with an axe in its hand. "You idiot!." A feminine voice says before bending over at my figure. I couldn't see her face as how dark the night had become. I go to sit up but she wrapped her hand around my neck that i gasped for air. "Let..go!" I wheezed out. "Shut up!."She ordered.

" I want to see you dead, gradually and painfully until there isn't anymore life in you. You think you can stroll into our lives and steal Stefan away from me, destined or not!" She spat. My eyes widened as she tightened her hold on me letting my leg wriggled rapidly on the floor.

"Let her go, hunter." My mom says from the background. Her voice was calm as usual even in the toughest condition. The unfamiliar girl smirked.

"Who're you?" She asked. Distractedly Her hand was loosened around my neck. "Let her go, now!" My mom warned, her voice was louder this time. "Go in human. That's none of your busy." She said harshly and turned to finish me off. A great wind blew her off and sent her clashing on the floor, 5km walk away from me. The rough average of steps in a km is 1312, so there would be about 6560 steps in 5 km. I calculated, but what just happened now?. "Eloise,get inside now!!." My mom's voice orders harshly. Her voice was hard as rock and i knew i was in trouble.

She dragged me into my room and threw me on the bed. "What the fuck were you doing outside?" She yelled. "Mom. I'm sorry, i heard noise and went to check it out"

"And that almost led to your death. You could had been killed, Eloise. What happened to me?, why didn't you report to me?"

"I'm sorry. I was only checking it out. I thought we were about to be robbed."

"Shut up!. You know this area is hard for robbers to rob us. Eloise, i have taken care of you for almost 13years now. Listen, you're been hunted now, by witches and hunters. If you're not careful, you could be killed by them. Don't ever go off on your own again, i promised your mother to protect you. Tomorrow, we're leaving town. Start packing now!!"

I watch the door close and i layed back on my bed hugging my pillow. I had never seen my mom this angry. I was curious to check what was happening, what if it were robbers?.

The next morning, i walked out of the bathroom drying my hair. I was stunned to meet Dawn sitting on my bed with her phone. She looked up and smiled. "Finally, you're leaving this house for good. I can't believe i'm finally seeing you leave." I shrugged and wipe my body with the towel. "Is that why you're here?" I asked pushing up my track pants. "Yes. Just the satisfaction that you're almost ready with your bags." She looked with me steadily biting her lips. 'She's beautiful!' I heard her through her mind. I smirked.

"You can leave or you wanna watch me dress?" I asked with a sly smile. "Bitch.!" She cussed and left, jamming my door behind. I scoffed and turned to my mirror, I absentmindly ran my hands over my birth mark. I turned, carried my bag and walked out of my room.
