Chapter 4 A CURIOUS DOCTOR

The next day at the store, Hayley and Tiana started making the dress ordered by their clients.

Hayley has always been good with sketching, so while Hayley was busy sketching the designs they intend working on, Tiana went to Back street fabrics at St Charles avenue to purchase the necessary materials required. They were really excited and couldn't wait to give it their best.

Hayley has been able to sketch four designs suitable for models in their twenties, mostly four feet tall, and light skin, they came out really nice, she couldn't wait to show them to Tiana. Hayley was now sketching the fifth design when the door to the store opened. She was expecting to see a customer but was surprised to see a tall masculine figure, a face specially sculptured by God that stops you in your track. A weak smile accompanied by a nonchalant gaze swept his face, off course that blush that accompanied it was a dead giveaway and could make any girl fall madly in love with him.

How the hell did he choose to become a doctor of all profession. Hayley taught to herself as she stood up walking close to him.

" Doctor Kelvin?!"

" Hi Miss Hayley, am glad you remembered me"

" What are you doing here?"

" I got your address from your folder"

" I know how you got my address, but that not the question, why are you here?"

" Won't you offer me a seat and perhaps something to drink"

" Sure! Here have a seat. What would you like to have?"

A fake smile on her face, cause more than anything, she just wanted him to go away and never ever appear before her again.

" Water! I will have water"

He answered those green eyes beaming with smile.

Hayley walks to the storage room, coming back with a bottle of water, as she hands the water over to him, he nibbled with his lower lips making him look more handsome.

" Thanks! So you are a fashion designer?!"

He questioned sipping on the bottle of water.

" As you can see. Why are you here doctor?"

" you'll be surprise if I tell you the reason. Curiosity!"

" What?!!"

She was surprised as the corner of her mouth lifted, she didn't know what to make out of these situation she was in right now.

" Yes out of curiosity. You see Miss Hayley, am currently writing a book on brain trauma, you know that kind of injury you had that day could cause Amnesia, long time coma, brain dead and most of the time death. It always hard to recover within the first six months but you recovered miraculously just few hours after your surgery. Since you left, I just couldn't stop thinking, the curiosity was eating me up badly, so I decided to come talk to you"

" Doctor! As much as I would have loved to answer all your questions, have got clothes to make with a deadline on the clock....."

" I know you are busy, I get that, so I will be quick. That day you woke up, did you feel severe headache, nausea or......."

" Doctor Kelvin stop!! I felt nothing! Am not some lab rat neither am I a patient, can you please take your research somewhere else, like I say I have a deadline to catch up to"

" Fine! I understand you are busy, how about over coffee or we can chat during your lunch hours?"

" What part of am busy are you not comprehending!!"

" Fine! But can I call you?"

He purse his lips, giving her that puppy pleading eyes. The more she stare at him, the more she is drawn to him, she just couldn't say no any longer.

" Fine! Call me but at night"

" That will be great! Thanks miss Hayley I really appreciate."

His lips curved into a smile making him more handsome. Walking out of the door, he bumped into Tiana but she was too curious for the full story that she didn't bother saying hi as she rushed to Hayley.

" Hayley! Isn't that the doctor at the hospital?!"

" Yes Tiana, it him"

" Wow! He looks so handsome today, why am I only noticing?"

" I think you will be in a better position to answer that, so did you get the fabrics?"

" Forget about fabrics, what did he want?"

" I don't know! Said he was curious about my quick recovery"

" Or rather he is curious about your beauty!"

Tiana spoke as she playfully picked out her tongue.

" That not it T. He said he is writing a book about brain injury and needed my help with his research"

" Uhmm....... I see! Only if he knew what you did to guys at college. Do you know I kept list of guys you rejected during college"

" See who is talking, how many boyfriend have you had?"

Hayley fired sarcastically.

" At least I had two boyfriends during college, but you, I just can't figure out what the problem is, I tried hooking you up with girls, but it also didn't work"

" That because I don't have such time, I have better things to channel my energy at"

" I really can't wait to see the day you fall in love, seriously"

" T. Can we talk about something more important. Did you get the fabrics?!"

" Yes your majesty! But they were quite expensive"

" Let me see!"

Tiana removes the fabrics from the box she just came back with, some were cotton, some were silk, but they were all very rare materials

" Wow!! T. The quality is so precious! I must say, you did a good job today"

Hayley praised her as Tiana was grinning from ear to ear.

" They want the sample of the design by tomorrow, do you think we will be able to meet up?!"

Tiana ask.

" Yes. I just finished sketching the design, they came out really good"

Hayley was now showing the sketch to Tiana, a proud smug on her face.

" The universe seems to be on our side"

Tiana pouted her lips as she carries the box of fabrics to the warehouse.

It was 1:00am, Hayley was fast asleep, but her phone kept ringing non stop, despite how hard she tried ignoring the call, the caller was persistent and won't stop calling. Cursing the caller in her mind, she picks up the call, her eyes closed and still half asleep.

" Hello!"

She heard the male voice, she has only met him twice but recognized the voice immediately. Sleep immediately left her eyes, she popped her eyes wide open and was now sitting upright.

" Doctor?!!"

" Have you been thinking about me?"

He ask softly but she couldn't tell why the question sounded like a flirt.

"What!.....no.......why would I be thinking about you?"

" That was a joke, don't get tense about it"

" You do know what the time is right?"

" Am sorry! I had a patient with serious trauma and I spent six hours in the operating room, am just coming out now"

" That must have been hectic, shouldn't you be resting now?"

" Yeah! Am really tired. I promised to call, I just needed to stick to my words"

As much as she hated it, it made her feel happy, she knew that was a bad sign, yet she was ignoring the signs.

" Okay doctor! You can go have a beautiful sleep now!"

" It Kelvin! You don't need to be so formal! How about coffee tomorrow. It Sunday and we will be having a sent forth party for a colleague that got transferred to new York, am inviting you"

" Why do I feel like you have something up your sleeve and there is more to these than just your curiosity and research?"

Hayley questioned.

" Am a straight forward guy, if I was interested in you, I would say it right away. Am just drawn to you, there is nothing more than just a casual Friend, I promise"

" Okay!"

" So is that a yes? Should I pick you up?"

" Actually no! Am sorry, I really can't!"

" Why is that, At least I deserve an excuse, don't you think?"

" Kelvin! There is lot more to the both of us than you can even begin to imagine. We are of separate world that should never come together, so it better you stop contacting me, please!"

" You know all you just said doesn't make sense right, but I will try. Have a good night."

" Thanks. Good night"

Hanging up, Hayley couldn't find sleep, her thoughts were clouded with him, a danger that should never have crossed her path, yet it did and won't go away.
