Chapter 8 Hungry Kisses And Heated Touches

/ 1

Can someone please tell me where the heck my luck ran off to?!
This can't be real! Women like Layla can't have guys like him as a husband! And by guys like him I mean, handsome, rich and sexy all in one! What could he possibly do with her? Money is one thing but apart from that she's got nothing going on...Then again, he wouldn't have married her just for money since he's already loaded. So could it have been an arranged marriage? Any parent with class would want their son to marry a rich woman, right?
Ugh! I really don't know what to think. Nothing seems to put my mind at ease.
Josh made his way to my side, Katie went to stand beside Harry while Jason stood infront of us. The moment his eyes met mine, they didn't avert, not even for a second. The look he was giving me was indecipherable. I could hardly even find it in me to not be intimidated by his dark abysses. The side of his lips twitched and he opened his mouth to speak, more than likely to me, but Josh got the bright idea to open his annoying mouth before he could do so. "Haley, this is Jason...Jason this is Haley."
Jason gave me a full-blown smile, holding his large hand out for a shake. "Nice to meet you, Haley."
I sent him an awkward smile as I placed my hand in his, his own swallowing my excessively smaller one. Somehow, I felt mesmerized by this small gesture. I'm not sure but it must've been the warmth he radiated or the fact that our hands fitted perfectly together. His grasp was a little too tight and his stare was so intense that I almost caved in to the urge to take a step back. It was as if he wanted to bore a freaking hole through me!
Could it be possible that he knows about me and Layla's sour relationship since highschool days? Or is it that he's unable to resist admiring me despite being married?
I hope it's the later.
"Nice to meet you too," I finally managed to say. He slowly released my hand from the handshake, his smile broadening. Even then, we didn't look away from each other. We continued to stare, both of us seeming to be too captivated by the other.
Thankfully, before things got out of hand, we were interrupted by Josh, his high pitched squeal forcing us to break eye contact. "Now enough with the meet and greet...Let's have some fun!" A stupid grin formed on his lips and slowly, he brought his hand up, hoisting the liquor he was holding in the air.
My eyes zoomed in on it, a feeling of excitement building rapidly. Josh's presence has actually proved to be useful!

We seated ourselves on the two couches in the centre of the living room, Jason sitting in front of me and Harry sitting to my left while Josh and Katie went for more liquor and glasses from God knows where. The silence reigning between the three of us was awkward from my end, seeing as the eyes boring into my skull was rather uncomfortable. I had no idea why but Jason was staring at me...he was staring so hard that I couldn't help thinking that he was trying to memorize every inch of my face.
He's weird...and hot...and sexy.
"What kind of job do you do?" Harry broke the silence, thankfully causing the eyes transfixed on me to avert to him. I sighed in relief.
"I took over my father's company a few years ago."
Harry nodded. "I'm planning on running one myself," He told him, looking proud of himself.
They continued their small talk while I; who knew nothing about business, kept my mouth shut and silently waited for my friends to return with the liquor.
Josh soon came rushing forward with four bottles of vodka in his hands, two in his right and two in his left.
Where the hell did he get all that!? Were they sending around apple juice just to irritate me?
Katie came a minute later with five shot glasses on a small tray. She laid them out around the vodka bottles that Josh had already set down on the table. I immediately grabbed a glass, ready to pour myself a couple shots when Josh gripped my hand.
"We're playing Truth or Shots," he informed, bubbling with immense excitement that nobody else seemed to possess.
With an irritated grunt, I yanked my wrist out of his hold then reluctantly settled the glass back in its place. Leaning back, I happened to have looked forward without much thought and spotted Jason's confused expression. I can tell that he's not a regular party-goer like I was. The poor guy doesn't even know what Truth or Shots is.
"We take turns to ask questions. If the person you ask doesn't want to answer truthfully, then they can take a shot instead," I nicely explained for him.
My words took a few seconds to soak in his head before he nodded in understanding.
"Let's get started!"
Ten minutes in the game and I was barely able to keep myself upright. "Why'd you marry Layla?" I fired another question at Jason.
Harry butted in before he could answer. "Is there a specific reason why you're breaking the mood by asking a million questions related to Layla?" He asked as he threw his arm over Katie's shoulders.
"Isn't that a bit too much exaggeration? I only asked five questions!" I defended with slurred words, swaying to the side and catching my balance at the last minute. Frowning, I turned my unfocused eyes to Jason. "Are you answering or not?"
Jason stared at me, a slight unnoticeable twitch at the end of his lips that only I may have seen. The action just made me all the more curious, but to my dismay, he grabbed the shot and tipped his head back, drinking it all.
"It's your turn, now," I said bitterly, shooting him a resentful glare for having avoided my question.
He straightened up, unfazed by my glare. "Really? Then I'll ask you a question, Haley..." This time, he displayed his smirk for all to see. "Have you ever had a one night stand with a married man?"
Well damn...
